We stopped by to kill some time before our movie, and I decided to grab some snacks before we leave. The cashier who took our order was not very friendly, and not surprising either given past experiences here. After waiting for a bit, our bakery items still hadn't been handed to us so I went to check. One of the baristas (I believe her name was Courtney?) didn't acknowledge me at first and curtly asked if I had already ordered. I explained that we had a movie in 10 minutes and just needed our bakery items. Instead of simply grabbing them for me, she responded with a rude attitude saying orders are processed in the order received. I would understand if I had ordered a drink but I was just waiting on cookies and a brownie, something that takes zero effort to grab. The interaction could have been handled much better and unfortunately this level of service seems to be the norm here. That being said, aside from the unfriendly baristas, this Barnes & Nobles is clean and well organized.

See you later I'm gone…read more.. 12 year old at counter with no personality or customer service training, no customer greeting , sparse used section, too many repressings and loud obnoxious guy behind counter whose voice overpowered any music they may have been playing but based on selection of vinyl offered doubt they had any real taste anyways. Travelled all over country and nothing unique here or any real personality. clerks with no greeting made me feel like they could care less if customers were there or not.

Great shop! It's…read moreabsolutely huge! It feels like it goes on forever! They have tons of books, CDs, Albums, movie memorabilia, manga, comics, clothes, etc. the list just goes on! It's very relaxing and quiet. The staff was very personable and knowledgeable! Wide range of prices, but it's really all based on the condition of each individual product, so I think the value is pretty spot on.

Do you have mail order for your t-shirts?…read more We were the couple that came by 2 weeks ago on 3 consecutive days/nights and bought the two green "Memphis - Music Forever " t-shirts and a coaster. We admired the vinyl records collection, especially the soul/R & B collection which were actually reasonably priced. Al Green, TP, EWF, and other superstars. Malcolm was there the first two nights and we chatted with him. He is the owner's son - but clearly is more or less the owner- and was so personable and friendly that he is THE reason we bought swag here. We checked out the other Beale Street souvenir shops but this place was more than a step above the others, way better! We went to Graceland, Sun Studio, Stax Music, Four Way restaurant, Cozy Corner bbq, Charlie Vergoss (overrated), Kooky Canuck, and Sunrise biscuits - but Memphis Music Records Tapes & Souvenirs had the best vibe of any of them (Four Way was a close second, highly recommend). All because of Malcolm and the variety of inventory they have. Thank you!!! I would've bought more but my suitcase couldn't handle more!

I love it even more when the records are organized and have labels to help you find things so much easier... They also had areas for their new arrivals + a pretty large sale section!
