Had a decent selection of newer vinyl at fair prices. Large selection of used CDs as well. Lots of new band graphic tees as well. I didn't find what I needed today but I will definitely come back in the future. read more

Really cool record store, lots of Vinyls & CDs but they do not carry Cassette Tapes. It is a little small but they do have a rewards program which is pretty cool. I really enjoyed my time there looking for albums. read more

This place is super heavily weighted toward classic rock used vinyl. The selection within this realm is pretty decent, although prices were a bit high. They also have a new vinyl selection, but it was focused pretty strictly on Top 40 type material, and I was unable to find any of the new records I'd been looking for. The worker there was very friendly, I get the impression they are a family run spot. What I really disliked about the place, however, was the condition of the used records. Prices did not seem to reflect the condition of the records, I found some examples where two used copies of the same record were sold for the same price, but one had several deep scratches on it (bad enough it shouldn't even be sold, or at least in the $1 bin) and the other was relatively clean. When you're paying $10-20 per record you shouldn't have to consider that it might be nearly unplayable. Even worse, the couple gems I found in the $1 bin were actually shattered! Like major cracks down the record and pieces broken off and missing. This is completely unacceptable, this is what I expect at a thrift store, not a record store. I hope they clean up their bins and trash the broken records instead of pawning them off on folks who don't think to check. read more

Well, well now...today I was in Woodhaven/Trenton w/ some stuff to take care of and figured I go check out this music store I used to go to every Friday after work when I lived in Woodhaven--Slick Disc. Located in Trenton, go east on West Rd, cross Fort St, look right and don't cross over the bridge kids! Slick Disc is one of the last indie music stores in the area, very nice selection, and always, always great folks to deal with--sincerely! Actually, without question, I would say they are the most friendly and helpful of the indie stores I've been to in the area...cough cough intials R_o_A cough messy/rude...cough and D_M cough snobby cough rude cough...At Slick Disc they say hi when you walk in and ask if there's anything they can help you find. If they don't have it, then they're more than likely to ask if they can order it for you. Prices on new cd's are competitive to big box retailers. They also have used cds, vinyl, and dvds as well--all reasonably priced. Rock t-shirts, accessories, music themed purses, guitar strings, straps, picks are also stocked. For you skateboarder kids, there is a corner in the back that carries all kinds of things you'd find in a skateboard shop...decks, trucks, wheels etc. too. I'm glad I went as I had a nice conversation and ended up trading in a couple cd's and picked up some Stray Cats and Rev. Horton Heat. read more

I went into Slick Disc for the first time today and I was very pleased with my experience. The staff are helpful, friendly, and enthusiastic. I was initially amazed by the wide variety of CDs, vinyls, and apparel throughout the store. I will be coming back! read more

My best friend and I visited this establishment several times during the COVID19 pandemic and this was the 1st and last time that we will ever be and feel disrespected again. We first started going to Slick Disc back in June of 2020. The staff was friendly, helpful and they had a nice variety of music. We were taught that the 1st impression is important and they made a good impression on us. So yes we kept going back. But today (Monday, January 18, 2021, we were DISRESPECTED in one of the worst ways possible. As soon as we walked into the store, an older lady that worked there demanded that we use the sanitizer right away. Now with the pandemic going on and the new strands that has come about we didnt take it the wrong way. My friend instantly used their sanitizer that they had at the counter and I used my personal supply. As we were walking around looking for records to purchase, we noticed that the variety of music has decreased TREMENDOUSLY. In other words their selection didnt target BLACK people as well. In addition to the music selection, we noticed that other people were coming in and no one barked at them and demanded them to use sanitizer right away. We looked around and as usual for the Trenton area, we were the ONLY BLACK people there. So with the DISRESPECT that was given to us, we turned around and left the store. We didnt make a fuss, disrespect anyone, because one we ARE better than that and why waste our ENERGY on someone who is highly IGNORANT and too OLD to know any better. We were taught that our money can spend anywhere and Slick Disc has truly lost a VALUABLE customer. We gained by not spending our money. They've lost by losing valuable customers!!! read more

I seriously have to wonder how this place is still in business. Everything is overpriced and, oh yea, it's a freakin CD store.

They are just an ok record store. New arrivals were poor, just a little better than a garage sale. Jazz section was just two bins, a lot of Herb Alpert. Had a huge Crosley record player display - Hey how about ruining your records by playing them on a Crosley? The Crosley display was almost bigger than the record section. They also had a bunch of t-shirts and collectibles, that I'm not interested in. They had a good amount of new records. The reasons to go to this store are new records, collectibles, and a so-so rock section. If you are getting started and building your collection it's worth going to get some standards like Boston or Eagles (but don't get a Crosley.) I like a way bigger jazz section, better new arrivals, and a better classic rock section. I won't be back. read more
