Oh boy, I'm making use of my unlimited membership and LOVE IT! It's nice to walk into the lobby and be greeted cheerfully. The ladies working here are always so pleasant. After a long day at work, this is much appreciated. And here's a big compliment coming from a germ phob... Thank you for keeping such a clean place! The variety of services is nice, too. I like being able to mix it up. Don't let the name throw you off. Yes, they have lots of tanning options, but they also have skin care options. One of the worst tanning salons in Spokane when you make an appointment and you go into 10 they put somebody else in your appointment slot so you have to sit and wait and then when you go to cancel, they don't tell you your freeze credit gets deleted but the staff will tell you you need to use it so when you go into actually use the money that you paid for the company takes it because you canceled on them. I believe the employees should tell the customer. That's bad business. read more

I was a customer of Slick Rock when it first opened, and I eventually canceled my membership because of the constant congestion in the parking lot. Customers leaving appointments were frequently blocked in by vehicles waiting in line for the coffee stand. After several years, I decided to give Slick Rock another chance because that issue appeared to have been resolved. Unfortunately, after approximately 3 months of being a customer, I am once again considering canceling my membership. My primary concern is the appointment scheduling system. On multiple occasions, I have scheduled appointments online only to arrive and discover that my appointment is not on the schedule or has been moved to a completely different time. In some cases, I have been scheduled during hours when I am at work and would never have chosen those times myself. When I raised this concern, I was told that the company does not have a technician managing the system and that scheduling errors are affecting many customers. Frankly, this is not an acceptable explanation. A business with multiple locations should invest in a reliable scheduling platform, technical support, and a user-friendly mobile app. The current system is outdated and creates unnecessary frustration for customers. Customer service within the salon is also a significant concern. It is common to see multiple employees behind the counter while only one person is checking in customers. Meanwhile, several customers wait in line despite having scheduled appointments. I have personally waited 10-15 minutes simply to check in, only to watch employees focus on product sales while appointments fall behind schedule. As a customer, I schedule appointments to accommodate my own responsibilities and commitments. When I arrive on time, I expect to be checked in promptly and receive the service for which I am paying. Instead, I frequently find myself waiting because staff members are engaged in lengthy sales conversations while appointment holders stand in line. The constant sales pressure is also excessive. I am asked about purchasing products virtually every visit, sometimes on consecutive days. While I understand retail sales are part of the business model, there should be a balance between promoting products and respecting customers' time and preferences. Capacity is another issue. It is often difficult to secure appointments because there do not appear to be enough tanning beds to meet demand. Customers who work traditional business hours have limited scheduling flexibility, and the current availability does not adequately account for these realities. Finally, I was disappointed to receive a call the day before Bloomsday informing me that my location would be closed and that I could be rescheduled at the South Hill location. Better communication and advance notice would have allowed customers to make alternative plans. Many of us have busy schedules and cannot simply drive across town on short notice. My family currently has three memberships, and we're all considering canceling. Conversations with other customers while waiting in line suggest that many share similar frustrations. I believe Slick Rock has the potential to provide an excellent customer experience. However, the company must address its scheduling technology, customer service processes, staffing priorities, communication practices, and overall operational management. Customers are the reason any business succeeds, and when basic expectations such as accurate scheduling, timely service, and respectful customer interactions are not met, loyalty inevitably declines. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and implements meaningful improvements. read more

After I had used up just about half of them they told me it had expired so too bad, you've lost all your money. No discussion. I have been a Slick Rock customer for years. I feel like they're always trying to pressure me into buying something more, and getting me on some kind of 'gotcha'. Today I went in to this location (South Hill) and after never having had an issue with needing a membership card to access any services, the woman at the counter asks me if I have my card, tells me it will be $5 to replace it because I lost it. I tell her I have never had or needed a card, and she tells me I got one when I signed up (which would have been 4 to 5 years ago lol), and that it will be $5 to replace it. I tell her I'm not paying for that several times, and eventually lets it go. Then, I go for my usual sauna...which they have since "upgraded" with some kind of salt treatment. That's all fine and good, but I find out that the 25+ saunas I have paid for and not yet used, are now 20 minutes instead of 30 minutes. When I explain that this isn't what I paid for, she tells me, it's because they've upgraded. I tried to explain to her that I didn't feel like I was getting what I paid for because I want time in the heat, not salt, but it was like in that movie where the protagonist tries to explain that water makes plants grow not gatorade, but instead of "Brawndo: it's got what plants crave. It's got electrolytes." it was more like, "The sauna's got what customers crave. It's been upgraded." Anyway, they didn't offer me any kind of refund/discount/compensation or even sympathy, but said I could call their customer service number if I wanted to ask for a refund. She also said, if I didn't like it that "you can leave." There have been so many minorly irritating instances over the years like this with slick rock, and I finally decided to take the time to leave a review because it needed to be said even though I haven't written a single critical public review of a business in probably the last decade. read more

The slick rock journey...... 4/25/25 signed up tanned which was good and tried a hydro bed it was the only thing available. 4/26/25 south hill no massage chair or beds no hydro 4/28/25 infrared sauna breaker not working North 4/29/25 water room in the valley level up services not explained drive 25 min to location to be told it's $35 I canceled. Why did the scheduler not say something when booking over phone? Called customer services. There were no refund possibilities and this is my first week of signing up, disappointed with not being able to use part of my package and no options to downgrade before the next billing cycle or any refund of that current package. I let them know that that was OK I will properly cancel, leave my review and depart.I go back to Palm Beach tanning I've been with them for years and never had any issues. I tried to give slick rock tanning a try because it seemed they had so many other services l. The guy tried to bribe me to stay they said to just downgrade next month to tanning and they would give me two free spa services. This made me laugh because it is their spa services that are not working, I kindly said I would consider however I will be canceling. I will continue to attempt to use the services until I cancel because when you sign up, you are locked in for two months. 5/3/25 back at south hill location trying to get into a massage bed on my lunch(I work Nextdoor). I get a 30 min lunch. The massage bed is 15 min sessions. I stood there waiting to get helped for over 15 min. No one asked if I had an appointment, said hello, much less look at me. They stare at the computer screens even with no one in front of them. Again not able to use services. Super frustrating I came here and not palm beach tan just for the massage beds next door to my job. Today I'm asking to cancel! Absolutely biggest waste of my money! $200 for what? Sariah the girl that works at the south hill location was less than pleasant and told me I should have booked an appointment. Would it have mattered if not even spoke to when walking into the building and being ignored? I could see her breathing so heavy after I asked that question. Slick Rock is an absolute scam. If you EVER go here for a single service, pay for that one service and never ever sign up for a membership. They'll charge you, never explain certain charges, and in the fine print will even charge you to keep an account open but not use their services. You will be forced to battle them with your bank, making a claim for the charges. If that wasn't reason enough, every time you walk in you feel you walked into a car dealership where its predator v prey and the sales associates inside Slick Rock try to upsell you on every item possible. They are very friendly and informative, giving their knowledge to the customers so we are able to choose which of the services we want. The tanning beds are of the highest quality and the hot services are the best available. I have availed myself of all of them and look forward to my next visit. The management has very poor customer service with unprofessionalism as company that offers memberships . The membership is a scam extra costs and charges . I've witnessed a customer be treated so poorly as I stood in line to get information . The customer had a promotional email on phone attempting to purchase a package . The package stated what it included with cost . The worker responded that she didn't think it included a service although it stated that it was included and part of deal In emailed language . She called the manager and the manager said it was a typo (mind you, an email blast from slick rock that went out to everyone opted in to receive emails) and refused to honor the "typo" that clearly stated the service that the customer wanted was included in the package promotion . That is 100% poor customer service as everyone around witnessing we're appalled . Don't be blindsided with all them fees and give them that cc to store! read more

While the salon is clean and the beds are up to my standard, i will no longer be doing business with any Slick Rock location. The employees are great but it is clear to me and many other customers that they are not treated fairly. I have heard horror stories from employees about upper management and in no way shape or form can i support this salon. so the employees are mostly good but this is a review of the business practices Slick Rock Tanning maintain. If you become a member which they desperately want you to be then above and beyond the normal price of say $21a month (which gets you a free tan once a month and the price is lowered for any other tan throughout the month) you are charged an extra $21 per year for maintenance and whatever else. At any other tanning salon you are not charged a maintenance fee because that is already baked into the price. a price which is already the highest in town. And if you want to cancel your membership you have to go into the salon to do it? Even though they have a website you create an account on and can book appointments you cannot cancel your membership unless you go into a salon by the 25th of the month? I was just called by the salon to let me know that I was not double billed on my card - it's a maintenance fee and pays for on call salon workers? read more

We'd had a pretty good experience here until recently. They have a good selection of tanning beds, infrared saunas, water bed massagers, etc. The staff has been friendly and amicable for the most part. During the COVID-19 pandemic we, along with most people I imagine, put our accounts on "freeze" which essentially means we pay $5.45 per month to keep the membership going so we don't have to pay the various start-up fees again once the membership is re-activated. The fact that they still made people pay the monthly freezing fee during a pandemic where the membership literally couldn't be used is suspect in itself, but that's how it worked. Then in late 2020 our credit card was compromised so we had to get a new card number. Of course our monthly $5.45 fee was no longer automatically processing because of the new card number and we forgot to inform them of the new card number. After two months of the freeze fee not going through they cancelled our membership. We did not receive any communication during this whole process (either via phone or email). As such we didn't realize the freeze fees weren't going through and we also had no idea the membership was cancelled. We then went in to reactivate the membership and were told we'd have to start a whole new one with the various start-up fees instead of just reactivating. We expressed the situation of the new card number and were willing to pay the freeze fees we missed to bring the account up to the current date and then reactivate. They refused and said the only way would be to re-start and charge us initial fees again. Essentially they just wanted to take advantage and pocket more money. The manager of the store we were at called in to their customer support team and explained the situation and that team also refused to let us catch-up on the membership. The manager then said they couldn't be expected to notify customers when they're payments weren't going through because "we're a local business". Apparently they were implying emailing people is too hard? It's sad they're unwilling to work with people when an honest mix-up happens. We understand they have to look after their business and not let people scam them, but this is a pretty cut-and-dry instance that could have been easily handled and everyone made whole. They took the greedy route instead (even though they would have made up the amount of the start-up fee in probably two months given their monthly rates). Take your money elsewhere please. read more

Slick Rock tanning is a beautiful facility. It is clean, modern and bright. Just don't count on tanning there if you are pale. I was refused service because I am "too fair." I am fully aware of the risks of tanning. I am also aware of my tanning limits. I would not, with this knowledge, have selected a tanning bed and laid there for the full length of time. I would have started off with two minutes for a while, before gradually increasing the time (gauging my skin as I went along). I was refused this opportunity. That is fine. I have since found another, reputable, salon that is allowing me to tan and is willing to let me spend my money. I've been several times and am already noticing a slight difference in my skin tone with no adverse effects. read more

The woman working was extremely nice but for my first visit I made an appointment for a spray tan the day before my vacation and did everything I was told and it came out not only streaky but tanner splattered All over, I looked like a leopard after it developed and it really put a damper on my trip being speckled. I had to apply store bought tanner from Walmart to try and even it out and even that worked better! Don't know if it's the machine or product but it was awful I will never be back or recommend them to anyone for spray tans read more

After trying the red light therapy once, I decided to sign up for a membership. I started on a smaller package, and once I realized I was paying more than the upgraded "unlimited" package, I decided to upgrade my plan. They don't take American Express, so I used a different credit card that has a VERY large limit and hardly anything on it since I generally use my AMEX or debit. There was never an issue with them using my card prior to this, and my monthly membership was already coming out of this card, but the gal could not get it to work suddenly. After wasting 30 minutes of my time, and using the wrong address, etc., I was upset that they clearly didn't value my time. I offered the AMEX and then remembered they don't t take AMEX either. I had a few hours to do something for myself that day (which I don't get very often being a stay at home mom that runs my own business). They were rude and clearly they didn't want my business so I told them I would just take my business elsewhere, rather than offering a THIRD card. I went across the street to buy some groceries. Oh, card worked fine!!! (me rolling my eyes). I read their reviews while I was waiting in line at the grocery store so I popped back into their shop just to make sure they didn't charge me a cancellation fee (something I read they had done on another bad review). Thankfully they did not charge me a fee. Phew! They had to cancel my membership to start me on the new membership, rather than upgrading my membership (as their system doesn't allow upgrades without cancelling first). So basically, I go in one afternoon, as a client who wanted to upgrade my plan, to someone who will never step foot into their salon again. WORST customer service experience ever! I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had a bad experience with them. There were plenty of solutions they could have offered me. They didn't have to lose my business, but they did. They also kept referring to to their "IT guy." Maybe they just need a new IT guy. They talked to him a couple times while I was there (he was in the back room the entire time - couldn't be bothered to actually come out and help them), so I'd say he's partly responsible for this happening too. I used to work in IT and my husband still works in IT and this is clearly not a real "IT" department. What a joke! Aside from that, I will say the girls have always been nice up until this day. But these girls had no idea what they were doing and clearly don't know how to work the system, and I was patient with them for long enough. They made me feel like my money wasn't good enough, so I'm out. Thankfully I found another salon that offers red light therapy and is more than happy to take my money! So good riddance. read more

Slick rocks unlimited spray tan price is amazing however depending on who you get checking you in you will HAVE to carry your membership card to be able to tan which is ridiculous. Most of the girls are extremely wonderful and the facility is VERY clean! Unfortunately today however I came in to get my spray tan and after being checked in, going in the room fully undressing with my blending lotion and hair net on and literally stepping into the booth I heard POUNDING on the door. I open it up hiding my naked body behind the door and am told apologies but someone has a appointment to tan and I would need to get dressed and get out so the other person can tan. I was beyond livid. I said nothing except "ok", removed the lotion & hairnet, dressed myself and left to wait for the other woman who took forever to get done. Now I completely get that someone had a appointment but when you screw up and let someone else in to tan you don't come knocking to kick them out. Not to mention if you see their naked, lotioned with the darn net on their hair you definitely don't ask them to get dressed and wait. You simply apologize to the other girl that you messed up and let someone in to tan forgetting their appointment. If they weren't the only option next to the crappy & disgusting palm beach tan I would cancel. Obviously training on how to handle this type of situation needs to be addressed. read more

Was told I needed to come in next month or send an email. Sent an email the next month. No response. Went into the south hill location. While visiting Spokane I saw Slick Rock was open on Sunday's. I have been tanning for two weeks getting ready for vacation and was happy I could continue tanning. The one tan I got at Slick Rock got me darker than the past 2 weeks of tanning. I was so tan my sister couldn't believe I could ever get that tan!! So happy I want to drive the 2 1/2 hours to just tan. Customer service was great, locally owned, and now my favorite place to tan ever!!!!! read more

Have lived on the south hill for a couple years now and am extremely happy this has moved in. With their all inclusive memberships I now feel like I was wasting my money anywhere else. I can try any of the brand new tanning beds or any of their other services for what I was paying for just tanning at the other local place.
