My mom and I had a good experience here in March. We both got a facial, massage and pedicure. At the end of that appointment we rebooked for August. When we came for our appointment they said someone had called and cancelled my mom's appointments and they could not fit us in. Scheduling is a nightmare and they don't send confirmations. In person it took us 30 minutes to get scheduled just for it to get cancelled without our consent. Just the headache of scheduling made us question if we wanted to return and now that we got cancelled we definitely won't be back. read more

My natural nails are growing extra strong and long with the Builder Gel application, which lasts up to three weeks before I need to get a fill. My last massage there was less than stellar after having my appointment rescheduled (by them) a couple times. I decided to give them another shot. Booked yesterday, ended up spending all day today in the ER with my son. Knowing I wouldn't be able to make the 5:45 appt, I called at 2:30 and was offered to reschedule with a $30 fee or cancel with a $30 fee. This spa reminded me of a lesser version of the famed Princess Scottsdale. It had amenities that were indulgent before services (dry cedar sauna, "experiential shower", salt room and fine spa shower products) but the service was my favorite. Lori was most accommodating, empathetic and hospitable. She stayed late as I took some time getting ready after my massage- with no complaints or hint of negativity. Lastly, the best massage therapist (aside from an authentic Lomi L therapist in Scottsdale) is Rachel. She was thorough in all my focus spots but made it feel zen and peaceful. I can't believe all she accomplished in 1hr. I will come to Spokane just to have her deep tissue massages! This place is extremely unprofessional, crooked and has zero clue how to operate a business within the beauty industry. Stay away at all costs. I booked a full day of services for my wife for a valentine gift. My wife called a week before the scheduled appointments letting them know that she would not be there for the appointments and would need to reschedule. They didn't answer the phone (they rarely do) so she left a voicemail and then called her back. To which she called them back again and left a second voicemail reiterating what she said in her first message. They knew over a week before the appt that she would not be there and canceled. They called the day of the appt and said that she no-showed them!!! It seems like a pretty obvious mistake on their part and I had to speak to them on the phone. They admitted that she did call and cancel, but they never removed the appointment from their calendar and wanted to charge us for not showing. They charged me $90 on my credit card and still tried saying that they were in the right without admitting any fault of their own. My wife and I are both in the beauty industry and know how this works. I've never heard of such foolish management. I disputed all charges with my credit card company and won the dispute. They have no money of mine and have lost all business from us. There are real professionals in this town and La Rive is absolutely NOT IT. Stay away at all costs. A shame to watch such a beautiful facility managed so disgracefully. read more

We planned a birthday celebration for my daughter and two best friends at La Rive Spa because they allow 2 extra hours in their spa and pool after the 85$ pedicure we all reserved. Loved the pedicures! The spa was disappointing and deceiving. We expected a quiet spa pool and hot tub experience. It was the public pool full of screaming children! We went to this spa to get manicures/pedicures before my best friend's wedding. We were very disappointed in the services we received. That is, except for the food we ordered, which was outstanding. First, the scheduling for the spa needs to be improved. The technicians did not know who had gone back for their services and were constantly coming to get the same person or a person who had already been taken back. Once taken back, I received a plain polish manicure/pedicure, which was nothing special. My total was $132...WHAT? The same price as my friend who got a gel polish manicure/pedicure (...that chipped the next MORNING). Before leaving, I asked the hostess at the front desk, who was checking me out, why I paid more for my plain polish manicure than a gel manicure? She had no answer, took my receipt and my phone number and I have YET to speak with a manager for an explanation. Oh and one of the bride's gel white tip COMPLETELY off not even 10 hours later. Their products HAVE to be old or expired...or the staff is incompetent of how to correctly apply polishes. This spa is at a 4-star hotel but you will receive no where near 4-star service. I've used La Rive for their day pass, which was a great experience and I recommend - for $25 you get access to the fitness center, lounge, sauna, and hot tub. They hype up the experiential showers on their website, but it's maybe 90 seconds and you have to restart the shower. So it's not relaxing, just this weird brief experience. I had a wedding this weekend and my toes were looking pretty brutal - dragging on the floor of a lazy river will do that. I usually go to Zi Spa but since that's an hour away, sometimes I'll go to Davenport or Spa Paradiso in a pinch. La Rive offers 2 hours of free childcare at Kids Quest, and my son loves going there so I thought I'd give their salon a test run for an actual service. I booked the strawberries & champagne pedicure - it's a $70 pedicure. When she showed me the color wall and asked me to pick a color, I said I just wanted white tips. She said that was extra, and as I started to say "well how much?" she said they didn't have time anyway because you have to tell them you're doing white tips when you make the reservation, and she's booked back to back so they can't add it on. I've never heard of a full service spa charging extra for white tips. When you go to the mall and pay $25 for a pedicure, yeah, I expect every "bonus" thing to be an extra fee. But when I'm paying for one of their most expensive pedicures, I shouldn't be charged $12 extra because I want white tips. And I get the same pedicure at Zi Spa - soaking, cuticle work, callus removing, paraffin wax. And they can get the job done in 30 minutes, so it's weird that it takes so much longer for them that you have to make it part of the reservation when you book. I checked on their website to see if it's an add-on, and they do have French Tip Enhancement at the bottom of the page. But seriously... I see the expensive pedicure I want, I'm not going to scroll to see if the particular paint job I want is considered an add-on because who wouldn't assume a $70 pedicure comes with whatever color you want. I made my disappointment known to the stylist and she said "yah... I've only been here for 2 months, I don't understand it either. And they don't give us any break between clients so I can't just quickly do it." And then said the reason it takes longer is because they use quick-drying polish. (can't you just get non-quick drying polish? I'll sit in the lounge longer waiting for it to dry!) I thought she got the calluses off really well because my feet felt smooth there, but by the time I got to the wedding 2 hours later, they felt rough again. And when I got a closer look at the polish, it's on the sides and tops of my toes. I'm not happy and am out $85 because they automatically add a gratuity to the bill and you have to say you don't want to tip that much to get it lower (La Rive - this is an aggressive tipping practice) I might go back for the day pass again, but I'm going to stick to Zi Spa when I need a pedicure, or other spa services. And a tip... if you order food to be eaten in their dining room, be sure you check in with the staff. When I went for the day pass, I ordered a salmon salad. I thought it was taking a long time, and noticed a waiter from Masslow's set something in the kitchenette area, but assumed that was something else. After 45 minutes I asked the front desk person and she said she totally forgot, and went and got the salad that had been sitting there for 30 minutes. read more

We were excited to go as a couple to celebrate our anniversary---Shockingly was dissatisfied- from the front desk gal who couldn't count money, didn't know how to take a partial gift card payment, to the awkward signature sloppy, slappy fast paced facial with unpleasant smelling products---it was less than relaxing. The pool area is shared with the hotel, so not private. There was only one room to be together as a couple, too. We just couldn't wait to just get out of there...$400 later. My husband did mention the massage was good and the pedicure was decent...the pedicure room was obnoxious with a employee gal talking about streaking and documentaries... less than impressed. Well... I was very excited to bring my friend here for a companion massage. Booked the on Thursday for Saturday evening at 6:30 showed up a few minutes late due to parking but when we walked in she asked for a last name and I gave it to her and she doesn't have my appt. Mind you I drove almost 2 hours to come here. Went and sat for a good 10-15 minutes while they try and find my appt. Keep in mind I confirmed this appt 3 times. Date time and everything. 15 minutes the lady comes out and says she doesn't have my appt and that they nothing available. She says we can go back and enjoy the spa without the massage but at the point I was pissed. Went back with a lady gave us our robes we sat down for 10 minutes and left!!! In regards to those who are posting negative reviews due to a recent media event, please remember to take into consideration both sides of the story and not jump to conclusions. I am not trying to say one is right and the other is wrong, but for the love of cheese, use some logic and listen to both sides before publicly bashing on a business. The staff all seemed very kind and knowledgeable; I did purchase a Moroccan Oil body souffle here for myself. I haven't been able to find it anywhere else in the Spokane area! Unfortunately, I moved away from the area prior to being able to book any services, but once I have the chance to visit, I will make sure to book a visit to the spa. Took my mom for the 'companion package'; we got massages in the same room. PROS: -Great spa with neat amenities like the 'experimental shower', a nice lounge, and a great co-ed hot tub area with water fountains into the tub. -Great massages therapists. I live in a Vegas and have tried many spas but of course I know to lower my expectations when traveling outside a world of 5 star spas. CONS: -I am all about the whole experience and this was a mother's day thing for my mom. She never gets spoiled like this and for the cost (high-end) I expected a little more with the intro. I ran to the car to grab our spa bags and the lady was rushing me even tho we were 15mins early, which I thought was strange. They took my mom back while I was running to the car and when I got back to meet her near the lockers, she had no clue how to work her locker. I know this is silly but it's also uncomfortable for someone who has never had a spa day. -MAIN CON: No explanation of the facility at all from anyone; no one showed us or told us where anything was..we just had to explore and find what the amenities were and where we could go. I really didn't like that because spas can be awkward and a little overwhelming if you don't know how it typically goes. ALL AND ALL: Our massages were great and the room we were in was really neat with a huge tub. We both dozed off and we had a lot of fun. I think the environment is comfortable, relaxing and beautiful. It's awesome to be greeted upon check-in by Tracy. She's friendly, upbeat and ALWAYS accommodating. She's one of the best things about La Rive. I was really surprised to read a negative review about Gina. Gina has personally done my nails for about a year. She is ALWAYS so personable, kind and I never run out of things to talk to her about. She also has given me some great tips to try at home to better my nails. My fiancée and I had our second couples loving retreat massage yesterday. It was incredible. We have received it as a gift twice now and thoroughly enjoy each time we go. First we start out by getting a tour of the many amenities there are including: the experience shower, sauna, co-ed spa pool and lounge. You are then offered one complimentary beverage: champagne, Chardonnay, red wine, or mimosa. Or you can choose the non-alcoholic option: cranberry juice or orange juice. After the tour and drink options, you are given a plush oversized robe and slippers to wear around the spa while you relax or wait for your massage. After I slipped into my swimsuit and robe, I sipped on Chardonnay and waited for my masseuse to come gather me and my fiancée. Once they came and got us, they took us back into this large room with two incredibly comfortable massage table that have warmers and plush blankets, a large jetted tub they pour aroma salts into with candles everywhere. There was also a large shower that has extra sprayers and glass walls. In the center is a relaxing, cozy fireplace. They told us to relax and feel free to use the aroma therapy bath or whatever we see fit for a half an hour and they would come back. Once the half hour arrived, we slipped under the sheets onto the table to receive a massage that is almost God-sent and orgasmic. The massage therapists use oils, hot towels and rice bags to cover your eyes as you escape into what is nearly entire body pure bliss and relaxation. Once our hour massage was finished, we were free to use the amenities as long as we liked. So we used the co-ed spa with jets and stayed for nearly an hour after our massage. I used their experience shower which was an arrangement of sounds and dimmed colorful lights that included misters, multiple nozzles that sprayed you and an overhead free fall of water. These included: Amazon rain, arctic mist, thunderstorm and one more that I cannot recall. It was an experience that was quite interesting to say the least. After my shower, they had an arrangement of hair dryers, curling irons, etc. along with different types of toiletries (makeup remover, hair brushes, cotton balls, q-tips, lotion and mouthwash). For the amount of money you spend (nearly 350+ for what we decided to do) it is definitely worth it if you are looking for a place to relax, get a mini buzz or even to gift to someone you love. The entire staff is friendly, helpful, and in no way stuck up or snobby. In my opinion, this spa day was worth every single penny that was spent on it. I have heard people complain because they are expensive but the quality of the products that they use and also the extras that you have access to by far make up for the cost. Since my husband and I were spending Valentine's Day apart, he surprised me with a spa package from La Rive. I'd been wanting to try the services here but heard mixed reviews. I've always been a little apprehensive of spa services from a big hotel or casino because I feel you're mostly paying for the brand name. When I came in on a gray, rainy Monday, I was pleasantly surprised. My spa package included a 60-minute facial, a 60-minute massage, lunch, and champagne. I also had free roam of the lounge, sauna, and co-ed spa room. There are amenities galore in the women's spa. Each guest gets their own locker, access to the showers (which were awesome and now I want a three-headed showerhead), blow-dryers, curling irons, hair ties, you name it, they got it. Each guest also gets a huge robe and slippers for their services. In both services my robe was kept in a warmer for the duration of, and let me just say, nice touch. VERY nice touch. It was just so lovely to slip into a toasty robe after a session of relaxation. I started with the facial. Actually, I started with hanging out in the lounge for a bit. There is water, snacks, fruit, reading material, chairs, and loungers. I would've been happy just lounging all day. I was then called back to get my facial. My esthetician was very nice, can't remember her name now. Awkward moment: I was so busy Snapchatting my awesome spa day to my gal pals that the esthetician came in when I was just slipping into the sheets i.e., topless. Not sure if she saw anything but I wanted to laugh so hard. I wouldn't have been embarrassed if she did, I've gotten Brazilian waxes from at least half a dozen different women. So, eh. The facial itself was also very nice, although I like a lot of steam and I felt that portion was kind of short. But my skin was very clean and soft afterwards, even after washing my face at home a couple times. I had a little gap between services so I went back into the lounge. Then came my masseuse. Oh, how I needed a massage. I might not have an office job anymore but my body felt out of whack still. I usually gravitate towards male masseuses. Not to be sexist because I try not to be, but males just have upper body strength that most women don't. Or they are just gentler on pressure for whatever reason. And I like a lot of pressure. My masseuse did not disappoint though. I have her card and will probably request her next time as well. 60 minutes is not long enough, I always go for at least 90. But I felt immediately better after the massage. She also used a warm neck pillow which was just fantastic. I was completely relaxed! I drank my champagne, ate my lunch, got buzzed, and hung out until I was safe to drive again. I sat in the sauna for about 10 minutes and I had the co-ed spa all to myself so I turned on the waterfalls and did laps in that bitch. It's seriously the biggest spa I've ever been in. I definitely want to come back and get a couple's massage with my husband. It would be the perfect way to relax and unwind. I also want to try some of their other services, such as the seasalt scrub. In the past I have enjoyed their services but my last two visit have been extremely disappointing. The last visit I did not receive the facial that had been requested for me, I did not receive the complimentary lunch, and they had lost my records again. Someone from the spa called to apologize about the lunch and offer me a complimentary lunch the next time I was in town. We live 200 miles away so we had decided to travel back in 3 weeks to meet some family. We called 2 weeks ahead to schedule the vitamin A facial, received a confirmation call on Friday, checked in at the front desk. Shortly after my scheduled appointment time the manager sent the assistant to tell me that there was a scheduling error and that I could receive a complimentary massage at 10:30 and come back at 6:00 for a facial and that the would discount it for me. The manager didn't even come talk to me herself. I let the assistant know how disappointing this was that I was from out of town and that I had other plans that day and that this was the second time that this had happened. I left the spa. The manager once again sent the assistant after me to offer me a coupon however I did not take the coupon. The first time shame on you the second time shame on me. Went for a couples massage, my husband enjoyed his but mine felt like she was literally trying to tear my muscles out from under my skin... I was excited to find a new local spa after Spa Paradiso closed. The facilities are beautiful but unfortunately the service was not. My daughter and I went for the signature pedicure. The first sign of trouble was the extremely limited color options - less than 20 colors and only one red of any shade. I really like the Sparitual brand and the full color line - but La Rive only had the odd choices. The pedicures were done by hairdressers who clearly didn't like doing pedicures. ( they told us).
