Consider yourself warned if you read this review and then go ahead and allow Slidell Moving to handle your belongings. We've moved several times, and this was by-far the worst experience we ever had. Slidell Moving was the contracted carrier to move my household goods as part of a military move. The deceit started with the packers who marked every single item as dented, scratched, badly worn, etc. They even did this on brand new items. There is no other reason to lie in this manner except to protect themselves when they later break your items. Our packing was scheduled to be 2 days. However, we were told by the packers that they are forced by the owner to pack quickly and move on to another job, despite being scheduled for 2 days. They said the owner will fire anyone who doesn't do this. When they loaded the truck, the owner told us it would be a direct delivery, meaning the truck was immediately enroute to my new home. This turned out to be a lie because they stored the truck in a hot, humid, non-climate-controlled location for 3 weeks in the dead of summer. Next, they lied about the weight. When loaded, we were told the weight was around 17k. Later, the company lied and said it was 19k. This was an obvious deceit to defraud more money out of the government. When the truck finally arrived, it was a different truck than what was originally loaded. All of our belongings were carelessly loaded into another truck with heavy items sitting on top of fragile items. Several items of value, and high sentimental value, were carelessly packed without proper padding. An irreplaceable wedding cake stand and a large, 6' tall model ship were destroyed despite us telling the packers how important those items were to us. In the end, we received over $30,000 in damages. We reached out to the owner, Roger, who turned out to be a complete jerk of a human being. He was rude and crude on the phone and did not care about the damage his company did. He spoke to my wife in a manner that no real man would ever do. Furthermore, he rudely said he does not care about negative reviews and said "that's why I have insurance." As I said in the opening, you've been warned. read more

Slidell Moving covered down on our military move from New Orleans, LA to Fort Leavenworth, KS. They provided door-to-door service, and the same crew packed, shipped, and unpacked our household goods. Unlike most of my CGSOC brethren, my wife and I emerged from a hellish PCS season mostly unscathed, with nearly every item intact, and with a furnished house well before class/work began here at the Leavenworth schoolhouse. The men on the crews that packed and unpacked our goods were fantastic. They worked hard and long to get us out of our home in New Orleans, and then efficiently in moving us into our place in Kansas. They couldn't have been friendlier, providing the kind of "familiar" service that we grew fond of in NOLA. This was my best move in ten years of Army service. read more

Moving is frequently a harrowing, terrible, stressful experience. I have had gang-bangers try and hustle me (ref: Starving Students, http://www.yelp.com/biz/starving-students-movers-south-san-francisco?nb=1 ) Stuff broken / mishandled on other moves, etc... Watch the movie "Moving" with Richard Pryor, you'll understand... I also have had pleasant experiences... They said they would arrive between 8-9 am, at 7:50 am they arrived. They were polite, they hustled, and they worked as if they genuinely cared about the products they were offloading / moving / carrying up a flight of stairs... The one dude was probably one of the strongest guys I have ever seen. He was carrying hundreds of pounds, like it was nothing. They were absolutely spectacular. Moving in general, is a nightmare.... but with this well oiled machine, it was a pleasure and honestly the best moving company I have ever used. We (my husband and I) have moved 5Xs in 4 years, so I know a thing or two about this topic and the people were fun and polite, but more importantly, careful with my things(chandeliers, mirrors, deer heads) If you are around the New Orleans to Baton Rouge corridor i would suggest making your life easier and calling these guys! read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE. On Aug 1st, Slidell Moving moved me as part of a military move. My shipment was postponed for 3 weeks for whatever reason. I know it had arrived, but it got bumped and I had to spend an additional several weeks in hotels. The movers had told me that it was the busiest season for the industry and that things died down after August. By December, they did not call back despite several of my attempts and the military claims calling them 3-4X to either evaluate, inspect or repair the hardwood floor they damaged. They keep taking down my number but to no avail. They do not own up to their responsibilities. They dragged the corner sectional of part of a 6 piece sectional sofa (the largest piece) and damaged my hardwood floor. They used a weak battery operated screw driver to try to reassemble my bed. They weren't able to install the screws into my bed. They left the nails sticking up out of the holes initially, and I had to arrange a second date for them to return 1-2 months after the original move. When they finally came back, they had to borrow my power tools and use much longer nails to screw my bed slates into the bed. Now, I have 1" long nails that stick out past the slate boards. This doesn't work for me as I have a dog that crawls under the bed and I store things beneath my bed. As part of the military deal, they're supposed to unpack my things and install my furniture (TV, bed, etc), and they only partially installed my bed. I had to take the TV carefully out by myself out of the boxes. I had to find the power cords to reconnect my power reclining chair. The movers were nice, but they would step out for what I suspect were extended smoke breaks. Update: it is late April- they still haven't fixed my floors 9 months later. read more

I can't begin to adequately express how disrespectfully our belongings were treated during our move. On top of nearly every piece of furniture arriving damaged, our belongings were quite literally just tossed and dumped into boxes. A box (already contained...) of our son's newborn and NICU items was carelessly dumped into a giant box of other items. Some pieces are still nowhere to be found, and irreplaceable. The original box? Nowhere to be seen. Countless boxes were unnecessarily mixed, pieces of our lawnmower? In a kitchen box. Fragile ceramic dishes? Tossed carelessly in giant boxes unwrapped, coordinating pieces in different room boxes. Espresso machine? Disassembled and split over three boxes for no reason. Homeschooling craft supplies? Emptied from their containers and dumped freely in boxes, now needing to be fully resorted and contained. Unpacking has become an insanely frustrating process trying to find our items, only to find they have been dumped out of original containers/packaging and/or broken. The disrespect from the packing/loading team is astonishing and disappointing. We have moved with professional movers previously and the experience was nothing like what we've experienced with Slidell moving, this company and team should be ashamed of the "service" they provided. read more

Jeremiah and his team were awesome. They were able to pack and move my mother in law from one place in one day. They started at 9 and had us unpacked and moved completely in by 3 . They came the next day and were able to pack up all our heirlooms among three family members. They completed the move by 4. All our heirlooms were intact after we arrived home with nothing broken. The apartment was completely moved successfully in 2 days with no problems. I would definitely use them again and listened to me and followed my suggestions and modified as necessary to successfully complete the move. read more

I went through Allied Van Lines to coordinate my cross country move. Allied Van Lines contracted the move out to Slidell Moving. We moved a 2 bedroom apartment and our car. The representative sent out to perform the estimate misinformed us of the services provided and his estimates failed to account for the services we requested. On the day of the move, the movers were about 4 hours late, due to really bad weather (not their fault). They took about 8.5 hours to load everything up and did not treat our property with any semblance of respect. My car was supposed to be placed in a car cover and then shipped. I called the driver, the central office and both verified that the car would be covered after it was loaded in. The movers placed items of mine into the car without my knowledge after loading the car into the truck, causing damage to the interior of the car. The car was not covered as requested and promised by them. The payment which was supposed to be due upon delivery was then demanded prior to delivery (completely counter to the policies of Allied Van Lines). The representative also told us that any boxes packed by the mover would be unpacked by the moving company. The unloaders refused to unpack any of the boxes packed, this was because the estimator forgot to include the unpack charge, which I would have happily paid, but was not told it would be a separate charge. On Delivery, a number of our valuables arrived damaged requiring me to fill out a lot of claims forms. The office staff in charge of keeping us apprised of the status of our cargo and when it would arrive at destination was not proactive, requiring a lot of phone calls from me to determine when I needed to schedule my flight to accept the cargo. The claims department also left very vague requests - I would fill out their forms and send them in only to find out they needed additional pictures or items which were not included in the initial form. The workers who unloaded our property on arrival, however, deserve 5 stars. They were professional, efficient and respectful of all our property. I wish they could have been the ones to load us. Overall, this company does not have it's service together. Their performance made our move much more complicated and created a lot of hassle. Moving companies are supposed to take the hassle out of moving, not add to it. I was extremely disappointed by the end of the move. I was lied to and misled by the representative and had to pay for his mistakes. Please do not use this company. I would not wish any of the stress they created on any other person or family trying to juggle a move. Good luck. Hopefully they can fix all of these issues, but they need better leadership. read more

They were contracted to pack my household goods prior to being shipped to Port Arthur, TX. During the packing, one of their staff broke an expensive Alaskan mask that I had purchased 8 years earlier and made a crude effort to repair it without informing us or taking responsibility. I have now found the damage and terrible repair attempts. This company is dishonest, deceptive and totally without accountability or integrity. What kind of professional adults act like this and treat people with such dishonesty? I wouldn't trust them to pack a lunch. read more

By far, the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. Unprofessional, very poor customer service. My company contracted them to move me from one state to another. The crew just had total disregard for the furniture and personal items. Was just in a hurry all the time. Took things apart with little respect. Dropped and broke furniture. No communication between themselves. Didn't mark boxes. Decided they weren't going to take certain items. There communication was awful. I had to call them to get a status of where they were and when they were going to arrive to unload. When they did arrive, were two hours late. Just dumped stuff all over the place. Were suppose to put things back together, never did. Just left things as they were with missing parts or broken. I have missing items they just never delivered. Either delivered to someone else or kept for themselves. By far, including management, have very little respect for their customers and there possessions. Even if they charged half price for moving, this company is not worth the hassle. Stay far away from contracting them!!! read more

My situation was unusual due to a screw up with the JRB Belle Chasse and Jacksonville, FL TMO (or whatever they are calling it these days). Our original movers canceled the day of our pack up and we were left in the panicked situation of not having a mover with 1 week left on our lease. I am only giving Slidell Moving & Storage (SMS) the second star because they picked up the contract immediately and scheduled the pack up before the lease expired. We had two pick up locations, a storage unit and our apartment. They arrived promptly to the storage unit, packed it out and loaded it in 3 hours. We agreed on a time the next day for the apartment pack out and load out and went home. That is when everything went down hill. The driver called me back saying the SMS changed their minds and they were coming back to pack out and load the apartment. From the moment the crew arrived they were rushed through the entire pack up. The crew also also didn't work well together. At times there were some overt disagreements between the crew. However, some of the crew did take the time to try to flirt with the building security guard. When it was time to pack up high value fragile items there was always confusion if the company was going to build crates for those items at the warehouse. The crew left after 10pm. The foreman was the last to leave and he had to take 3 items in his personal truck because the crew forgot to load them into the moving van. When our household good arrived. There was no organization to the pack up. Parts to furniture and electronics were not packed with the items they belonged. 3 boxes were missing and none of the high end fragile items were packed in crates. Luckily the only serious damage was to my carbon fiber canoe. We told the movers that it needed a crate. SMS must not have listened because the canoe arrived just wrapped in cardboard and broken in half. Now I am in the middle of the claims process. read more

They don't like stairs, and will just ignore your box labels!! The day after they unloaded our truck, we found at least 40% of the boxes downstairs were actually boxes for upstairs--they were hiding under the downstairs boxes! Now we have to get more movers, as its a big move. read more

Movers were nearly 4 hours late. During that time, I was able to load our rental truck myself, with the help of a few generous friends and family. Customer service was terrible - completely unapologetic, and actually seemed annoyed at my frustration for having to wait hours for movers that never showed. Would not recommend. read more
