From 12pm waiting and they showed up at 5 pm. Took 5 hours to move a simple job one bedroom set and an office w 20 ready to go boxes two tvs a round table and armor . They over charged me and broke my tv. One guy looked totally high wobbling all over the other was throwing up. Asking me for water and food almost dying of dehydration and were sloppy when their boss said they were late for taking lunch. This people seemed like they got picked up from the corner and had no idea what they were doing. DO NOT HIRE THEM u will pay the price like I did. The people they sent other than the girl were not fit to do the job and I lost a tv because of it and paid two times more the quoted time because of their unprofessionalism and they even lost the key to the truck. I got the run around every time I called and lost over one thousand dollars because of them. I don't wish that for anyone. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY this move was a horrific experience. My fiancé and I opted for Family Movers because of their good reviews and competitive pricing, thinking it would save us from the exhaustion of another DIY move. Unfortunately, they showed up extremely late with no heads-up, despite our repeated calls and only getting through after speaking with the owner, Brenton. The move itself was fairly quick and efficient, but any positives were completely overshadowed by the movers' behavior. Keaton and another mover started bickering, which quickly escalated into shouting and cursing at each other--right in front of me and my family. It was so unprofessional and honestly just added a ton of stress to an already hectic day. To top it off, we were charged way more than their high-end estimate, which felt unfair considering the experience we had. While hiring movers saved us some physical effort, the emotional and mental stress, along with the unexpected cost, left us regretting our choice. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. And do not sign your "bill" at the end of service if you have any damages to your property! They consider the bill the contract and it states that they will not cover more than 60% of the move. I understand that it is ultimately our fault for not reading the fine print, but it was presented to us as a bill and not a contract. But we did have damages, major damages to both furniture and property, and the owner Brenton still did not give us even 60% of the moving costs. We had damage to our sectional, bed, newly painted walls and millwork of our previous home. The men he had do our move did not properly wrap our furniture and ended up even bleeding on our couch. Before signing the "bill" I confirmed with him on the phone that he would work to compensate us for the repairs to the couch so I did not think I needed to put anything on the bill (again, silly me). When I reached out to him regarding the couch, he said that he didn't actually owe us anything and out of his sheer kindness would give us $600 and fix the millwork. I appreciated the offer to fix the house out of his pocket, but declined the offer based on the terrible experience we have had. I do not want anyone associated with this company on my property again. We "settled" on about $900 which is neither 60% of the move nor enough to fix the couch, let alone all the other damage we now have. I expect him to retaliate via comment as he has with other negative reviews, but feel I have described our situation accurately. If you are looking for reliable and honest movers, I do not recommend this company. Find someone with insurance who will fix their mistakes (and hopefully they don't even make any) and not guilt you in the process. read more

By the owners own admission the quality of service provided has declined. His movers damaged both the home we were moving out of and the home we were moving into as well as multiple pieces of furniture. WHEN PRESENTED WITH A BILL DO NOT SIGN IT! The bill is actually a contract that limits the owners liability to 60 percent of the total cost of the move. In the end the owner failed to even meet that obligation for damages. Pool Table Moving Review: I had a great experience with Family Movers. They were very responsive, asked a lot of clarifying questions before the job to make sure they could deliver & they sure did! They were able to break down a 3 slate Italian slab pool table (very very heavy), and move it to another part of the house in ~2 hrs for a reasonable price (in comparison to others). On time. So much went wrong I don't even know where to start. Movers showed up separately and over an hour late. They set my start time the minute the first person showed up, but did nothing until the other 2 showed up 1/2 hour later. I requested 3 movers so it would go quicker , that was a costly mistake as one mover did nothing but drive the truck and give me the bill. Speaking of bill, I was VERY clear about how many boxes I had and listing the furniture individually ( 10 pieces of furniture and 47 medium size boxes) and was quoted it would take 2 hours and $450-$500. We decided that a 26' truck would work, yet they brought a 2nd truck and tried at the last minute to put 6 chairs (regular sized) in it so they could charge me an additional $200 - the 26' truck was only 3/4 full and more than enough room for the chairs. I finally spoke up! There was NO need to use 2 trucks and continue to money rape me. There were MANY breaks taken (just to add time ) and they even stopped at the convenient store to get drinks when we were FINALLY ON OUR WAY, almost 4 hours in !! BUT, they didn't just go in and get drinks, they took 45 minutes and called it their "lunch break" and charged me for it ! The appearance of one of them frightened me so much that I didn't argue. They broke a planter and instead of even saying they were sorry , they said ,"we weren't supposed to move that anyway." When they finally left their "lunch break" they disappeared for over 1/2 hour. The move was literally 1.3 miles away and the "lunch break" stop was even closer , so it took them about 40 minutes to drive less than a mile ! I was given the bill $1750 !!!! I flipped out as that was nearly 5x the amount I was quoted. So, they acted as if they were doing me this HUGE favor by reducing it to $1500. I tipped the 2 that actually worked very well. I messaged the owner with the issues that literally replied with a "?" Nothing else , just the "?" Do NOT hire this company. It was the worst moving experience of my life (I've moved 13 times in my life,) Hire someone else, ANYONE else. I gave them 1 star because the stuff eventually made it to its destination, but would have given 0 stars if that was an option. :( read more

They were really nice and effective but the only reason I'm giving two stars is because they did the job. They broke the screen on my television. Didn't put my furniture together properly and up charged me 6 mins outside of the two hour span when I know they were completed well within that timeframe, but I wasn't present. I saw another review where a customer was promised to pay $384 and he came with the $415 price. Same thing happened to me. They gave us an China cabinet but now I need to purchase another television and put my furniture together. Lesson learned, get movers that have insurance attached. read more

I scheduled my move in the beginning of January for the 30th. I scheduled for the earliest spot to have the day to get it done. I was told they'd be here between 9 and 10. The day before they call to schedule for a window of 1-3. At 2 I get a call that it's been pushed back to 4. At 4 I called and was told 5:15 but that they'd call back asap with an update. At 4:50 I call and the line is going straight to voicemail. I call about 7 times before I actually get someone to answer. Each phone call was less professional than the last. I ended up having to call a friend to help and he and I, after a very stressful day of wait-and-see, ended up moving everything ourselves. Do not hire these people. Moving is stressful enough without the "professionals" completely dropping the ball. I wish I had believed some of the bad reviews instead of being drawn in by the lower cost. And since I can't reply I'll edit: so like I said in my review my move was January 30. New Year's Eve is December 31. It's kind of interesting that you can't keep track of the amount of people you have stood up. As far as professionalism goes, I think this exchange speaks for itself. I do recommend Family movers! I have moved over 21 times as a retired military wife. I hired Brenton , with Family Movers, to move my mothers belongings house to house a distance of 92 miles apart . The service was scheduled for 10am. The day started with a 1 hour delay but ultimately did not matter because the two guys were so fast with loading they had it loaded up within two hours. I had my boxes organized and furniture tightened up, ready to load The morning delay was caused by a truck malfunction. They had to change trucks. Which left them short of shrink wrap and short on moving blankets which it first concerned me, but the move was short distance ( 1.5 hour drive) and mostly interstate travel so they padded the furniture with paper after the moving blankets ran out, my mothers furniture arrived without any damage at all. Brenton's experienced loading techniques kept everything secure and protected during the move. When we arrived at my mothers house , it was a sprinkling rain. They kept a steady pace unloading and took every precaution to handle moms furniture with care . One of my moms favorite items is a big monster fern in this huge black cast-iron pot, which was quite a handful but they did it without complaining and they were so nice about resetting it on cement blocks for my mom. I would say this was one of my easiest and uneventful moves in 40 years ! The actual cost came in slightly less than estimated . This company has VERY fair pricing and I would DEFINITELY HIRE AGAIN . I used the Yelp projects tab to get estimates and my move was insured by Yelp and additional $2500. I had copies of FAMILY MOVERS / license and insurance within minutes of asking ! Brenton is very communicative, and would answer a text or a Yelp message almost instantly. I never waited for an answer- it was most impressive . . I was searching for a moving service that could do an out of state move (New Orleans to Atlanta) with very little notice, and Family Movers was able to deliver. Just a few days after we came to an agreement, I had a 1 BR apartment packed up on a Monday, and everything was unpacked the next day on Tuesday. Overall, Family Movers did a good job helping us move across town. Nothing was broken and a few items were lightly scratched, but I chalk that up to the risks of moving in general. My only advice is to not pay extra for a third person. We only requested two movers and they arrived with a third person and said if we wanted him to help it would be an extra $50/hour. Since I had already moved all of our smaller items and boxes to our new house, it felt like there was almost always a third person just kind of watching or waiting for someone to be available to help him get the next piece of furniture. My boyfriend was around the entire time and able to help but every time he offered they would just say "oh we got this", but this just ended up costing a bit more money without really saving much time. read more

Very hastily moved my furniture. They agreed on $200 for the move but I guess since I was given a "deal" they ended up putting holes in my wall and broke my new dresser I've had for less than a month. Instead of taking the dresser drawers out they left them in. When they were unloading my dresser from the truck all the drawers fell out breaking my new furniture. They were nice enough to come out on Memorial Day and he explained to me that he was very busy because of the holiday. Just wish my particle board dresser would have been able to withstand falling on the ground. You get what you pay for I guess. read more

I'd never had a bad experience hiring on Thumbtack until these people. I hired them to move my old mattress and box spring to the curb, and to move around other furniture in my home. I have in text that we agreed on a rate of $200. I also have in text that we agreed that the box spring and mattress would be coming out of the house. No extra fees were discussed, until after the job was completed. Then it was suddenly "that'll be $415". I asked, excuse me? We agreed on $200. He said he was going to go fix the rate. Then he comes back and says it'll be $394. Hah, what a discount! Still almost double than what I expected to pay. He tells me that since they're taking the mattress and box spring to the dump, that it's an extra $200. Why wasn't it discussed up front? Why am I only told this after the fact? I told them that it's not what we discussed and he was so rude, "sorry for the miscommunication but I guess I can go bring the mattress back inside! This is what things cost" I felt bullied into paying this, so I did so he would leave, and I figured I could dispute it later. I tried contacting two different numbers for this company with no response. I finally got in touch with someone and told them what happened, and he said "let me call you back in 5-10 minutes." 40 minutes go by and no call, but I get a text with this itemized bill and why it suddenly totaled $394. I tried explaining what happened to this guy and showed him the texts too. No response. A day later I try calling the number on the invoice. This time someone answers, and when I tell you RUDE! I couldn't believe they'd talk to a customer that way. "You wanted us to do all that for $200? Come on. This is PLANET EARTH, and on planet Earth, everyone knows that taking things to the dump costs money." Everyone except your team apparently, who agreed to remove the mattress/box spring from my house and didn't tell me it would be any extra money until after the job was already complete... Oh, and they have you sign an invoice before they do any of the work, and then scribble the amounts in on it later. Con artists, skeevy as hell, avoid them at all costs! You can see from my attachments that we agreed that the mattress and box spring were going to be removed, and that junk removal" was a separate service being offered that was not discussed in my job at all! read more

They were very quick to respond to a search that I initiated online with a great price. They had plenty of blankets and moving equipment. It was a bit of a complicated move: from storage unit to home to a pod. They were courteous and careful with our belongings. All the elements of the move went smoothly and efficiently. I had no damage to my furniture at the point that it was loaded. The only thing lacking was cord or bungees to secure the furniture in place. They waited while I made a quick trip to buy bungees. That would be my only suggestion is that they had cords or bungees or told the client that they needed to have those on hand. Now we just have to wait and see how well the furniture weathers the move! It seemed to be packed tightly ! I was appreciative of how quickly it was all done! read more
