He was honest, direct and ultimately assured me his help. I'd consulted many doctors regularly who never addressed my overweight or even suggested that I had problem. I can't say enough about how much I satisfied on the procedure, which was performed by Dr.Hamamji. Most importantly their staff are the best in providing care. Dr. Hamamji and their staff made me feel comfortable throughout the weight loss procedure, and answered all my question in the initial consultation. I'll also say that Dr.Hamamji and his staff were there with me after having the surgery. So many people feel difficulty due to unavailability of staff and surgeon in post surgery period. I was forced to seek a new doctor to help me with my cosmetic issue because my prior doctor had…read morepassed away 4 years ago, so I contacted my friend who knew a few doctors and she recommended I see Dr. Angel Gomez-Garcia, so I meet with the doctor and explained to him my issue and what I needed to have done. I noticed that there were a lot of problems with this doctors office from the start such as him not being fully staffed, he didn't even have a secretary, a consultant nor a stable office, he rents the space and moves from one office to the other. I researched him a bit but I did not find any negative comments, he felt unstable but since he was referred by my friend who knew him and he was available to do the surgery before I went on vacation I agreed to have him do my surgery. I ignored all the red flags and trusted him and my friend so I schedule the surgery with this doctor, the nurse sent me across town for an exam, she told me to go there to take the X-ray, she told me I did not need an appt because they were waiting for me, I drove almost an hour and found out Dr. Gomez's office never contacted them and I needed to book an appointment ahead of time and I had to schedule an appointment for a different date, than this doctor told me I needed other things done, I had them done and than he scheduled my surgery, to my surprise he forgot I was suppose to have surgery that day, so he rescheduled me again for another date than he said the OR was not available and reschedule me again this time he had me drive all the way to Orange County I drove there early in the morning and when I got there he started to conduct a prep op exam I thought it was odd he was doing this 20 min before surgery, mind you he never told me what I could or could not do other than don't eat before 12am. Most doctors request a medical clearing done by an MD, a cardiologist, and blood work prior to surgery.... This doctor only requested the lab work and said he would handle everything else because he is an MD. I thought he knew what he was talking about so I went along with him and did the pre op questioner with him and than when we get to the operation table the anesthesiologist asked me if I had gotten a clearance from a cardiologist and I told him that DR. Gomez had done everything already, he told me I still need a clearance from the cardiologist and the cardiologist is the online who can clear me for surgery along with my MD. He told me that there is no way he can operate that day do to the fact I have not been seen by the cardiologist and I do not have prior clearance from my MD and that he can not go based on the only thing he has which is lab results and Dr. Gomez's clearance. I was than told to get off the op table because I needed to be seen by a cardiologist PRIOR to surgery. I told him I was never advised to do that and than he sends me to a cardiologist near by to get a clearance done there. I was told to not eat anything and come back with the paperwork from the cardiologist so he can operate me later. I was at the cardiologist till 5 in the afternoon and was told I needed other test and asked me why I was sent there I told her the doctor and the anesthesiologist took me off the table and asked me to get her to sign off on the surgery and go back, even the cardiologist was discussed with the way this doctor was handling my surgery as these are things should be done at least a week prior to surgery not the day of.. I guess this doctors only concern was getting paid, he sent me from one surgical center to the other, than he told me not to eat and to go see his cardiologist and get a paper from her and go back that day and get operated later, any doctor would know that a medical clearance sometimes takes several days and several test need to be done prior to signing off the surgery. I have never seen anyone so hungry for money and not actually care about your well being, he put my life at risk, scared the life out of me, luckily there wasn't anything wrong with my heart but the fact that he thought he could over write all the procedure and simply sign off on the operation himself is unreal, who is to say he could simply write off on the surgery because maybe his house note or car payment was due that day and not because it is safe to operate that day.... The lack experience, consideration, poor staffing and professionalism is horrible there. I ended up going to a different doctor who gave me a list of Cedar Sinai doctors I needed to visit prior to surgery. Once all of those requirements were meet I was given a date and the operation was done. Dr. Swartz took really good care of me, I felt safe and well taken care of the staff was amazing and it was nothing like Dr. Gomez's office. Dr. Gomez has a lot to learn, and needs to understand that his patients are people and not cash cows... Don't go to him, your life might be at risk.
