Our phones were in our cross body purses and were stolen on the dance floor. The thieves are clearly professionals as we had our purses on and in front of us. The worst part was that the general manager was a huge jerk. When we reported our phones had been stolen, he shrugged his shoulders and said "It's a big city, things happen". No sympathy, no support. Went opening night - had a BLAST. Packed, but not uncomfortable. Service was swift and friendly. Dimly lit and sexy. Bottled cocktails are pretty brilliant - no waiting around, no breaking delicate glasses if someone bumps into your elbow. These guys make it easy to grab your drink and hit the dance floor (or photo booth, or skee ball). The Mother-In-Law (Tom Tom tamale with chili 'n' fixins) was the ideal "soak up the booze" snack. DJ was on point, playing everything from The Specials to JayZ to Queen and kept the party going. If you're not having fun here you're doing it wrong, y'all. read more

CAUTION! Your wallet may get stolen here! I went with a group of friends over the weekend and someone bumped into me and I instinctively grabbed my purse to find that my wallet was not there. I looked at the middle-aged man who bumped into me and asked if he had taken my wallet and he said no. I grabbed him and didn't let go and told him to help me look. I shined my phone light on the ground and there was my wallet, open, on the ground. I'm certain it didn't fall out of my closed purse. Fast forward to the next day and my friend realizes that her wallet was gone. She called slippery slope to see if someone had turned in a wallet, and they said they'd need a description of her wallet because THEY HAD FOUND SEVERAL EMPTY WALLETS. This place is fun if your wallet doesn't get stolen, but unfortunately this seems to be common at slippery slope. I won't be going back, and I would advise that you don't either. read more

Downstairs bar was sooo rude. Yes, the we're having a difficult time with the credit card machines, but rolling your eyes at customer is NOT okay. Upstairs bar was way more mature, classy, and great customer service. Would have been 1 stare if the upstairs bar wouldn't have saved the place. Over all, good vibes. What an appropriate name for this place. This is where I would assume the "Slippery Slope" to questionable decisions begins or ends up. Logan Square has become the new Wicker Park...or is that an insult? I will let the residents of those communities squabble about that. The fact is simply this: Logan Square is the place to be right now in Chicago. This particular strip of Milwaukee with Revolution Brewery, Cole's, Emporium, and now Slippery Slope just to name a few. This place is poppin' off on Friday nights, and I would assume Saturday night too. The very front has the skee ball area, and there are a few booths in the middle. Walk in the back room/dance floor and there is the photo booth, where you will find the ladies doing the duck face poses. The music on Friday was a mish-mash of 90's jams and some current ones. The bartenders are pretty awesome, and they serve some cool cocktails in glass bottles. This is a nice addition to Logan Square, and I will def be back here when the weather gets warmer and the ladies are twerking in their sundresses. FYI: Malort shots are $4. I came here with a group of friends to celebrate the end of our exams and boy was this place dead! The place is kinda dingy with a tiny tiny dance floor. I'm not sure why people call this place a club, because it's more of a dive bar with minimal room to dance in. The DJ that night was pretty horrible and played strange music that no one knew. We tried requesting some songs but alas, our words fell on deaf ears! I thought it was pretty cool that they had a photobooth ($5 for 2 copies of 4 pictures) in the corner so to amuse ourselves me and some friends took some silly ones. It's cool how they decorate the bar with these photobooth pics! There's also skeeball ($1 per play) if you're in the mood. Note, this place is CASH ONLY! If you're looking for a grungy dive bar, this is the place. Otherwise, move on and find a better place to dance with your friends. read more

Plus, they're served up by friendly and cute waitstaff. If you've got some energy, there's a small dance floor with some great music. We celebrated a friend's birthday on a Saturday night at Slippery Slope and had a really fun time. Décor: DOWNSTAIRS: From the outside you could easily miss this place, it is VERY unassuming: just a door and some glass blocks with the bar's name in red neon. Upon entering the main bar area you immediately notice, and love, the Christmas lights hung from the ceiling, a cool touch. Oh, there is also Ski Ball (nice!). The bar itself is a good size, running nearly the whole length of the main room, there are a few booths, and (what I believed to be) a small dance floor in the back. The overall vibe of the place is hipster-casual (aka my favorite vibe to a place!). When we arrived it was pretty dead, but boy did things pick up later in the night! Décor deux: UPSTAIRS: Depending on what time you try to head up you could be in a pretty slow moving line on the stairs to get in. However, it's worth the wait. Upstairs is totally different than downstairs - it feels like it has been untouched since the 1970's and is very cool. There is a lot of wood and low seats along the bar. Plus they play entirely different music than downstairs (which is awesome). The vibe, while different than downstairs, is also very chill and relaxing. Bathroom: It's a bar bathroom, but not in terrible condition. Upstairs' bathroom is much nicer. Staff: The bartenders were all outstanding and super friendly. Not only did they provide guidance on drinks/liquors but they also just kind of shot the shit with you if they had a minute (which they did when we first arrived). Additionally, the bouncer, coat check girl, etc. were all very nice as well. Great staff. Drinks: We had a whole bunch of things, but mainly hung near the house cocktails. We had a BEES! (which came in a little bottle and was tasty), a Slope Fashion (very well made), their homemade Blueberry beer (pretty tasty), a Moscow Mule (very well made!) and many, many others! Upstairs we tried a few more house cocktails (I forget which ones) and I had an Old Style (which isn't available downstairs... or, at least, it isn't on the menu). Value: None of the drinks are expensive but they are well made and the great staff is a great bonus. You get your money's worth here. We are big fans of this place and will certainly be back again in the future! read more

The upstairs has a more sit down and chill at a speakeasy vibe. Pretty nice upstairs, but I must say that it might look like a craftcocktail spot, although the drinks were average. On weekends, the line can be around 20 min long, and the music is generally pop and some oldies. Come here to dance and try to hookup. Had loads of fun here with my friends. We wanted a place to hang out that wasn't a club but wasn't so casual. This place is perfect but it does get very packed. The downstairs area was not that great since it was jammed packed and you could barely walk but the upstairs area was more relaxed and less club/party vibe. We hung out in both areas for a couple of hours, had some drinks. The blueberry house beer was pretty good and the drinks were cheap. Overall I would visit again. read more

GO EARLY! Seriously, it's the truth, this place fills up QUICKLY. We went for my girlfriend's birthday and had a blast. The DJ was playing 90s R&B and the drinks were all very cheap. Was even taken aback by one of the waitresses. I've worked with people with disabilities before and learned sign language to assist, and sure enough, she signed, "b" to get my check for my name. Not really relevant to the location, but still kind of fun to mention. We arrived around 8:30 and were among the 7 people who were there. By 9, there were about 25 people... by 9:30, at least 100... It fills up insanely quickly and the line began to form around the block. Skiball was pretty fun, but one of the machines was down, so we had to wait a while. The photobooth was $5 a session (a bit steep for a photobooth) Overall, I'd say it was pretty fun. read more

Being from New York, my expectations for nightlife in other states is usually low, as no one else does 4am & it's hard to find a place open somewhat "late." Meeting with some friends who are from the area, after dinner, on a Sunday, suggested The Slippery Slope. I was game. As soon as I entered, it felt like the bar I usually go to in NYC. To my right was Skeeball. The bartenders were very attentive. The drinks were good. About 15 minutes after we arrived, the place had a good group of people. Great DJ. It was just a fantastic spot! Why is the blueberry beer here famous? It's honestly nasty. I know it's supposed to be a fun gimmick but the blueberries in the beer are small and sour and the beer itself was so bitter that I couldn't taste anything else. There are some cheap, nasty beers and shots here and some overpriced, overly sweet, albeit cute little bottle drinks. The dance floor was empty for the most part (why were we only people dancing??) and the music was pretty shoddy. 8 get that maybe they're going for a dive bar feel but the bar straight up feels dingy and dirty. I did not feel clean being there. And, big bar, tiny single dirty bathroom? I don't get it. Service here is nothing special. Skee ball is overpriced but a fun idea. Opted to give this two stars instead of one because I was drunk enough off of $1 beer to have a good time despite the crappy bar. read more

I live down the street so I am here more than I would like to admit. However, I do not recommend going anywhere near this place on Friday or Saturday as the line is insane and the crowd is odd. It's a fun place if you want to get trampled and shoved while a bunch of drunk people flail around and attempt to dance (I use the word 'dance' very loosely here) on a very tiny dance floor. Contrary to the name, this place isn't bad. Came on a Thursday and it was very mellow -- empty dance floor, ample space at the bar. Started off with a cheap house blueberry beer? From what I remember it was fine enough, so no complaints except what is it with hipsters and mason jars?? They made a good gin+tonic though, so cheers to that. The Heavy Feather upstairs was where it's at. Even though it was 70's themed and casual, it still felt way classier than the peasants (or should I say... pheasants) below. I guess I should leave a separate review for that. Random note, I don't know if I'm ignorant or what, but this is the first time I've seen literal individual bathroom rooms at any type of bar. Since Bonnie's passed away, may she rest in peace, we go to Slope. If you show up after ten, the line gets super long, and it gets very crowded, but if you want to drink and dance, just go. Really strong and tasty cocktails that come in a bottle, which means no waiting for drinks to be poured. All bathrooms are for all genders. I liked this place a lot! Great music and a DJ and woooo, those drinks. I had an old fashioned and man, it packed a punch (in a good way). It was so crowded the night we went and it was a pretty mixed crowd. It did get really hot and we were all a sweaty mess lol. Get there early-ish! The line is long long after 12am. Went to the Slippery Slope's "slopening weekend" last night for a couple of hours. -I liked the DJ, but my friends were iffy on the mix. If you like dancing, there's plenty of that going on. It was easy to make elbow room for my moves, and no dudes tried to grind on me, so they had all I really require for dancing. -Lots of people were there, and we waited in line for about 20 minutes. But there was no cover fee. -The house cocktail was delicious, but again my friend had problems getting drink service. I say 4 stars, but my friends might say 2. Try it out! read more

If you tell me a bar has skee ball, I'll probably want to go. I went here last Saturday night with five others. It was early when we got there - around 8pm - so it was pretty empty. I ordered one of their bottled cocktails, the strawberry gimlet, which was delicious! At $8 a pop, I was pretty impressed. As the night went on, the bar definitely got more and more crowded, particularly in the small dance floor area/room. I would definitely come back to this place for the atmosphere, drinks, and skee ball. My one minor complaint is that the placement of the restrooms is a little strange. You need to walk through the dance floor to get to them, which can be a little difficult when it's packed. Other than that, 10/10! read more

So every time I wanna know where to go in Chicago to find something new and different I always asked my best friend cause he knows all the place to stop by. After 40min in logman and eagle me and my bestie decided to stop in this new bar in Logan square. This place was AMAZING, bar was so late back, people are so chill and music was do damn cool it was like vintage, retro/oldies Etc bar. Other great thing is that their drinks are already made in cute small bottles but with the same taste like if the bartender make on front of you. Atmosphere was cool. Drinks were decent at a great price ($6-$8). Came on a Saturday night and it was PACKED. So packed my friends and I had decided to leave because there was no room to move, dance, or breathe. Otherwise it's a cool place with friendly staff and I always see them cleaning so that's awesome :) they have a cool photo booth which is a plus. Upstairs was nice as well. EXTREMELY disappointed with the lack of customer service at this bar. The bouncer denied re-entry to one of the friends in our group because she did not have a stamp. (This is not to mention that he had just seen our group, including our friend, leave the bar a few minutes prior.) My friend explained that, upon entry, the bouncer did not ID nor stamp her, an error on Slippery Slope's end, NOT on hers. She calmly and maturely offered the solution to give him her debit card, so he could check to see that it was in the system, as she had spent close to $50 individually, and our group close to $150 collectively, in drinks. The bouncer began yelling and rejected her explanation/solution with UTTER disrespect. I understand that it may be a taxing and exhausting job to work with intoxicated people all night long, but there is NO reason to treat anyone the way in which he treated our group. BOTTOM LINE: I've never felt so disrespected as a customer and will never spend another dollar supporting an establishment that allows its employees to treat its customers in such a derogatory manner. read more

This was the 3rd bar of mine for the night but the impression was great. I enjoyed it for the skeeball option. Trashy funky music I had a dance party to briefly and the drink selection. I would not call this place a Dive Bar by any means and its a pretty cool place to experiment with different drinks they offer and try something you might not otherwise get without some crazy price tag. It could be posh but only if over dressed people came in but otherwise you get such a huge mix of people there I couldn't classify it as anything other than a bar than is doing something different and thus attracting many different crowds. The music is always fun, I just wish the bathrooms weren't located in such a hard to get through spot, and they should get rid of the pre-made glass bottles. Makes me feel like a child tbh.
