Tera, the "era" in Monera, as she puts it, is one of the business partners and was very friendly and helpful. The clothes here remind me of another store but more affordable. Each area is categorized by color: blues to the right, browns and whites straight ahead, violets in the back of the store. Open doorways weave in and out of the dividing wall, allowing customers to float freely from continent to continent... er... section to section. Beautiful, plush scarves caught my eye, as well as some of the old writing table decorations. One room in the back was filled with an assortment of accessories, like jewelry, hair barrettes, and hats. Incredibly well organized, this shop is like strolling through a fashion museum. Prices were a little higher than expected, and although there were two salesladies in the store, neither of them acknowledged that I was there. That bumped Vintage Marketplace down to three stars. I'd still stop back for a browse though. The window display changes frequently (and, in my opinion, is the most elaborate in Hyde Park), so something new will likely draw me in again.

If you are looking for a place to shop that has unique fines that are picked up from different designers, this is your place. I love the different options that they have to offer. Now, they are pricey! It is not your typical Boutique where are you can get a shirt for $30. But on the flipside, their items are definitely high-quality and as I mentioned unique. What I really like about this place also is you can take your items home and try them on However you would normally wear them. They take down your card number and will give you a call the next day to see what you thought. If they don't hear from you, they will charge you for all of the items (or if you like them of course) or you can bring them back as long as it's in the 24 hour. I don't know of any places that do that, but I will for sure keep coming back!

The collections are high end, and they damn sure come with a price tag. Would I wear everything in this store? Absolutely! Could I afford anything in this store? Nope. I did not like the styles everything was different dull shades of brown from purses and bags to clothes. I was asking her about her oils for my skin care routine and she made it very clear she was not interested in serving me or people who look like me AT All. I couldn't remember the name of the store but felt it was important to warn people especially in the OTR community that she is not for us. She was making the ugliest faces at me and I asked her which one if her oils would give me skin a glow she replied side eyed, "Any of them". I left and never went back. The oils were already pretty pricey which I didn't mind until I saw how nasty she was. I'm still looking for a great home decor place as well as a friendly business to help me with my skin care needs.

Although I did find out that they were getting ready to have a nice clearance sale to send out the spring/summer clothes and transition to fall/winter. The last day of the sale they actually did a bag sale. I made it in on one of the sale days and bought some nice clothing at a more reasonable price. They also had some decor items. The store is fairly small but they packed it full of good shopping. I also found a pair of shoes that I liked. I actually paid more for them than I would have liked but they were unique. I am sure I will stop in again. I may make it when they are transitioning over to spring to pickup some deals on winter clothes.

But I did find the employees bickering with each other over how to set up their ring light and technology so they could go live on Facebook and sell virtually. This should not be done during store hours, or should be done in a backroom where customers who are physically in the store aren't treated like second class citizens to your Facebook lives. Clothes were packed heavy on racks, so I can't imagine they get much business on the sales side.

Shopping local is important for so many reasons and 45/46 has a ton of great gifts for the man in your life! I love the shave kits with old time-y accessories, not to mention they smelled amazing. I also loved the different assortment of unique socks, bow ties and cufflinks. Then they have the usual polos, button downs, suits, shoes, pants etc. For once men can get something that is not just a square boring pattern, but actually unique and stylish. A great little store, a little pricey, but worth the money for the quality.
