Avoid at all cost! Could not rent our normal place (which we love), because our dog is getting older and could not handle the stairs. Big construction project that the owners knew about but either did not tell Sloane or Sloane did not tell us. Four of our six weeks we stayed was dealing with everything. So much for a nice quiet, relaxing time at the beach. 8:00 am wake up every morning and work till 5:00. Street shut down. Dirt and dusk over our cars every day. Can sit on porch or even have a door or window open. Driveways ripped out or blocked. Glad I rented this expensive disaster. House has lots of issues also. Major CF! One star because you can't give zero or negative. read more

I rented a condo in the Continental through Sloane. I knew it is an old motel (1960s?) and so didn't expect a lot. I got quite a bit less. The condos are individually owned, but are managed by Sloane. The first condo I was in was pretty bad. No AC in the living room (!), mold on the bedroom and bathroom windows, wifi/ TV not working, electric jack in bathroom not working, badly stained bath-tub, an ancient stove so rusted and dirty that I would not cook anything in it. Sloane is not responsible for the condition of a unit, but they could be more attentive to cleaning. The floor had not seen a wet mop in a very long time. Bring house shoes! But the stove and microwave are so old, chipped, and rusted, that no amount of cleaning will help. I must give Sloan, and their front desk person, Susan, high marks for listening, trying to fix, and eventually offering me another unit. Sloan got the wifi working, sent someone to replace the bath socket, which still did not work. But perhaps they could be most selective in the properties they agree to manage. Unit 104 is horrid. Only positives I can offer about 104 are the towels are nice quality, the bedding was clean, the dishes and glassware are good quality. The second unit I was in, 201, was much cleaner than 104, but still has the ancient rusted dirty stove and microwave, and some pots and pans that should be in the trash. Putting a coat of paint on walls, and hanging some decor is not enough to upgrade an old space. Since the rules require the renter to wash all dishes, providing dish detergent and a couple of kitchen towels would be helpful. Be sure to bring paper towels and a hair dryer. read more

Zero Stars. Sloane is a scam. They'll take your rental deposit with a smile and if you cancel, they will tell you they've re-rented the property at a lower rate and keep your $500 deposit- a June rental cancelled in January! Such a scam! My suggestion, never do business with them. They're looking for ways to take money any way they can. read more

For nearly 40 years my family has been coming to Sunset Beach, NC and using SB Vacations and SB Properties for our rentals. This is our first (and last) time using Sloane (Summerwind @ 1105 E Main St through Sloane Realty). Although the staff is extremely pleasant, the company standards on what are livable conditions are beyond extremely low. We were welcomed by standing water, leaks and mold in the kitchen cupboards and the bathrooms. Also mold on ceiling vents above the beds. My mother-in-law was greeted by an electrical spray from a ceiling light not properly repaired. Loose steps in the house, no usable porch furniture and duct taped windows. This should never be on a rental program and we suggested they inform future guests of these deplorable conditions if they continue to rent. read more

Poor customer service. Rented a beachfront house from them for $12K. They called the day before check in to inform us that the hot tub was not working and the part was back ordered. We asked that the owner make some concession due to this. They said there was nothing they could do and refused to contact the owner. We asked to speak to the manager of Sloane and was informed that we were speaking to the manager. Very unprofessional and discourteous manager. If you have a choice, rent from a different company. read more

Would give them a 0, but can't....rented from these people about 15 years ago and had a bad expreience....thought they might be more customer friendly, so tried again.....no luck. They basically feeel they can jerk you around because it is the beach....have had much less trouble and much better experences with VRBO and AIr BNB....would never recommend these cheats. read more

Rented an ocean front home for a week in May. Cannot express the level of disappointment I have with everything related to our rental experience. The home was absolutely filthy. We spent our first full day of vacation cleaning, (alongside the Sunday morning visit from the man Sloane did send to clean the very stained upholstery in the living room.) Other than that, no one came to clean the areas we complained about and I never had a conversation again with Ayme in the office about my concerns or complaints. There was not a working ice maker to be found, banisters, shower curtains, bed spread, windows, living room carpet and furniture, refrigerator were all dirty. Guy who came to fix our elevator said he wouldn't ride in it!!! We should just use it to load luggage and not ride in it at all - not what we were hoping as we rented to property because it would be easy access for 90 year old relatives! We have been coming to OIB since 1970 and renting for the past 12 years and have never staying it a place so bad before. read more

We recently stayed in the Colony II building that Sloane Realty owns. Overall, we really enjoyed our family vacation to Sunset Beach! Pros: This location is a simple 5 minute drive to the beach where there is convenient parking. It's also a convenient drive to Calabash (check out the Calabash Creamery!), a Food Lion, ABC store and just about anything you might need during your stay. Sunset Beach could really use a Target however... There is an outdoor pool, indoor pool/hot tub and exercise center that is reserved for renters. The grounds are clean and well maintained. There is also a grill for communal use. There is TV provided with 700+ channels, just in case it rains. Cons: No Wifi? What is this, 2004? Enough said. The interior of our unit was a little dated. It kind of felt like we were staying in our grandparent's condo in Naples. There was also a little bit of a cleanliness issue in one of the rooms but it seems like that was probably just an oversight by the cleaning crew. In an age where AirBnB is providing amazing (and modern) places to stay, this kitchy resort might want to consider stepping up their game. Overall, I would recommend this place, especially if you're there to hit the beach and get some sun... Let's face it, that has to be the only reason to go to Sunset Beach! read more

Awful customer service. The ladies in there acted like they had somewhere better to be and like they were all better than the clients they were supposed to be helping. They were inhospitable and rude. Incredibly unimpressed with how they handled themselves when checking in to the place we rented and we will plan accordingly next year in booking somewhere else with someone else. read more

Stayed at one of Sloane's properties on Sunset Beach recently. The property was in a state of disrepair and clearly hadn't been properly cleaned or maintained for years. There was trash behind and under furniture, food crumbs all over beds. The carpets were filthy and showers covered in mold and mildew. Discovered water leaking from shower upstairs into kitchen light during our stay. Broken fridge and dishwasher parts. Missing screening on porch and deck was in state of disrepair including missing tread on stairwell. Broken door handle at entrance so getting into the house was very difficult. Reported it at beginning of our stay and never got a response. Also sent an email at end of stay with all the repair items listed above and never received a response. Not sure if they are fully to be blamed or the owner of the house. Regardless they should have responded and in my opinion, drop that house from the rental program. read more

We recently stayed in the 1105 East Main Property managed by Sloane Realty - accessed via VRBO. PROS: The property location was great, 2nd row and walkable to the Pier. CONS: Bugs: Upon arrival, hundreds of Sand Gnats (No See Ums) - throughout upstairs bathroom (in tub, on window sill and on toilet below window); - along kitchen countertop; - bug infiltration continued throughout stay: - purchased bug spray to control issue; - rental company indicated exterminator could be provided, however: 1) maintenance should have been performed BEFORE arrival; and 2) did not want chemicals around children under 6 years old. - Lori Ann indicated she personally inspected the property prior to our arrival - if performed, terrible oversight by management. - Requested cleaning service was provided: - Arrived 18 hours later; - Upon entry, cleaning person stated that he remembered property's bug issues. Internet access: EXTREMELY slow DSL dialup; spotty coverage: - when accessed typical results as follows: Conway SC server 1.4 Mbps down/ 0.4Mbps up Property condition: Property in poor state of disrepair - particle board above stovetop flaked into food preparation area; - dishwasher not anchored to countertop; - not childproofed: - extension cords connecting electronics; - 1" gap between floor and screen door, allowing for more bug entry. SUMMARY: I would not recommend using Sloane Realty for property rental services. read more
