I didn't understand why he needed more money if I still had almost $20K available, but I never got it back. Being new to law, I think he was afraid of the court system and wanted to walk instead of fight. I was able to salvage the train wreck from a terrible mortgage loan he and his friend orchestrated for me (to pay his fees) and got a load modification through my original mortgage company. So, I came out better. Anyway, you don't need to take my word for it. Just look him up on the State Bar's website (https://apps.calbar.ca.gov/attorney/Licensee/Detail/240436). Bruce knows this legal landscape like the proverbial back of your hand, but beyond his legal acumen he has the grounded common sense that you don't find in most people, let alone attorneys. For example, he knows when a legal skirmish might be frustrating to us, but it's not worth spending his time and our money on because it's inconsequential to the outcome. There are multiple judgement calls along the way, and we relied on his judgement 100 percent of the time. I'm glad we did. I hired Lorman in 2021 to work on a case, and he dropped the ball. He did not work on the case starting around spring 2023, and almost seemed to have forgotten about it. About 17 invoices later, he suddenly seems quiet. He told me he would be working on the case. Of course I would expect that, as he is my attorney. Now, As the court date approaches, October 2023, he called me, 8-9 weeks out, and gave me excuses why he didn't work on the case, has no depositions, has a need for a continuance. I have waited two years for a court date and this is unacceptable. Luckily I had emailed him. Otherwise who knows what would happen to my case. He also has another court case that day. So I was pushed to the back burner? He gave me about 3 excuses anf then said he would need 3-4 weeks to get an associate to work on a filing for me. So did he retire and not tell me? Unprofessional, unreliable, and unethical. He seemed more interested in finding out about the opposing counsel's questions than defending me.
