Unfortunately, this is the first time I have felt compelled to leave a negative review on a place. My boyfriend and I had high hopes for our Valentine's dinner at Small Town Tavern. We had never been, but our expectations fell drastically short. I ordered the endless crab legs and my boyfriend had the prime rib, both premium-priced entrees for the holiday, along with specialty drinks. The Valentine's promotion never mentioned that sharing wasn't allowed, and our waitress, although very kind, never stated it either. The issue arose when the manager came over and offered "refills" without clarifying she meant crab legs. Since both of our drinks were empty, we assumed she meant beverages. Instead of clarifying, she just gave us a look that made us feel as if we were stupid, which made the interaction uncomfortable. When we realized she was talking about crab legs, she asked if we both had ordered them. I said, "No, just me" but I also mentioned that my boyfriend had eaten a crab leg or two. In the moment, I didn't realize he hadn't actually even eaten any--he was just helping me crack them open. That's when she abruptly told us we weren't supposed to be sharing. If there is a strict no-sharing policy, it should be clearly communicated in the promotion or at the table beforehand. Being corrected mid-meal, especially in a dismissive tone, took away from what was supposed to be a special Valentine's experience. Clearer communication and a more welcoming approach would go a long way. read more

My family and I have now been to the Small Town Tavern 3 times. I must say that each time this place did not disappoint with great food, and very friendly service. It is clean, and they've done a good job keeping with the sports bar theme. As far as apps go, we've tried the Fried Deviled Eggs, the Brussels Sprouts with all the good bacon and bleu cheese, the pretzel bites, and the humongous Cheese Stick (The Big Stick) "snake" haha. All were AMAZING. For dinners, we've tried the Cajun Shrimp pasta, Lemon Herb Chicken (went back twice just for this one!), Chicken Parm, a Steak Quesadilla, Gnocchi, Chicken Cutlet Sandwich, and the Pierogi Flatbread. We loved everything, and would have no problem getting them again. My ONLY criticism would be two things: 1, that the marinara that is used is very acidic, and 2, I didn't care for the French Onion Soup that I upgraded to. Both of these, though, could purely just be a preference/personal taste thing. Would I get them again?--Yes. They weren't bad. Just not what I prefer. We definitely are glad this restaurant has opened, and look forward to going back again soon! They have a good price vs. portion vs. quality going for them, and I really hope they can stay consistent with how things are going. It is definitely worth giving the place a chance. We ordered an appetizer (the famous long cheese stick)...it was so hard....you needed a steak knife to cut it. The shrimp in a basket was rock solid hard and tasteless (right out of a Costco bag of frozen shrimp) and the chicken was again...hard on the outside and dry on the inside. The asparagus was the width of yarn....and stringy overcoked and the "smashed golden potatoes" were scooped with an ice cream scoop....ala the elementary school cafeteria. I don't often leave negative reviews, but this is a place that really could, and should do better. As one of the few privately owned sit-down options in the area, there's an opportunity here that feels missed. The restaurant doesn't seem to struggle with being busy, but unfortunately that doesn't reflect the quality of the food or the service, both of which were mediocre during our visits. We were specifically recommended this spot for wing night and decided to give it another try. After waiting nearly 50 minutes for our food (for two), the wings were extremely over-fried. They were so dry and hard they had more of a jerky-like consistency than wings and absolutely no flavor in the "sauce". I don't mind paying higher prices for good food and drinks, but the pricing here doesn't align with the quality being served. The service was inattentive to say the least and made no attempt to improve the quality of the experience. There's also a noticeable disconnect between how the restaurant presents itself on social media and the actual experience in person. Wife loved the pulled pork flatbread and I had the shrimp pasta which was also great. Drinks were really good. Pumpkin Pie martini was amazing. 2 full dinners plus 2 cocktails plus 2 cokes plus 2 shots and our total was only $75 plus tip. Server was young and seemed a little nervous but she was friendly and attentive. They had some cool Halloween decor right now but the place could use some "style". I ordered the Pot roast. It came out cold. They microwaved it. I took 2 bites,it was awful. Tasted like canned food or way past the expiration date. I asked the rude bartender to adjust the bill. She refused,So I paid it. I will not be back. Terrible food and service. read more

First time there. 6 out of 6 orders were wrong, the food came out cold, and SUCKED! Service sucked! Worst meal ever! NEVER AGAIN!

It's our first time here and we are absolutely thrilled with the food and the service. I wasn't sure what to expect because the previous restaurant just wasn't my favorite but this one I can't wait to come back to try so many other things on the menu today, we had the pierogi flatbread grilled chicken salad with the chicken was excellent and a chicken soup that had the most tender chicken I've ever had delicious absolutely delicious. Ordered chicken Parmesan baked potato salad. The chicken and potato came out first then my salad. The potato was hard not cooked at all. The noodles were cold.
