Good was great. Service a little slow. The menu says prices subject to change. Quite an understatement! A $9 sandwich became $14!! I've experienced this years ago. You never see this at any other restaurants. I'm convinced this is an underhanded way of bumping up the revenue. It's their way of doing business. Ask for the prices before ordering. This is our local Cheers bar and everybody knows your name, your beverage of choice, your special of choice! Let's just say they are our family! We walked in unannounced with about ten people last night at a staggering arrival and they immediately set up tables in the bar area we love for us! Let me start by saying the food and prices are great.. but.. they are losing tons of restaurant area business because they are soooo slow. I've been in several times, and it takes close to an hour from the time the waiter first comes over till the food is served. I don't know what the problem is.. but as a former restaurant owner myself, I would examine this and correct it. I don't know this place teeters between a two and a three. We stopped in after church on a Sunday afternoon. I had been here once years and years ago when it was Cozy Inn. Cozy Inn was a dive and a half, but this supposed remodel leaves a lot to be desired. Sure they added some nice TV's but the place would still qualify as a dive in my opinion, which is fine as long as the food is good and the service is satisfactory, can't say they achieved those standards this visit. So we pour in on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The place is a ghost town. They have an open kitchen to the bar area where we sat. The young male that was cooking had both fryers going and all you could smell was the stench of burning grease. I completely stunk when we left and the smog of grease hung heavy in the dingy bar the entire time we were there. I asked for a drink menu, it was scribed on the wall as were some additional specials and soups. The draft list was disappointing to say the least. They mostly served commercial beers, your Bud, Coors, and Miller. Sprinkle in your Yuengling and Sam Adams or Blue Moon and I've described most little bars in America. No exception here. They had one IPA on tap, can't remember which one it was but I got it. We checked over the menu and I knew I was getting fish since giving up meat. Matt ordered a pizza. The bartender was absent for most of our stay. She came out to deliver our food but then left again. My fish sandwich was meh. The bun was of nice quality but I didn't eat it because I just wanted the fish. The fish ugh. Just so bland. Absolutely no flavor minus the residual grease that had soaked in. I added hot sauce and lemon to help it out and made it palatable. On the other hand Matt loved his pizza so perhaps that's what you should stick when ordering here. So overall it tilts to a 3. The bartender was pleasant enough, though not really present, but showed up when needed. Penn Murry: "Cozy" place - not to be confused with it's predecessor (which I heard wasn't very inviting). No worries because this place is! Pleasant staff in a "hometown vibe" establishment (sports bar-ish). Full bar w/7 or 8 beers (including craft) on tap along with a variety of bottles. Oh yeah (why I stopped), the food is tasty. 1st time in, had a "draught" with homemade potato chips! Tonight, again, a "draught" with some of the best Haluski I've tasted, with a side of kielbasa, n@ (for you Pittsburghers). Small menu reads nice, along with chalkboard specials. Barmaids - Annette & Sarah - say "all food is homemade ". and I must say, my tab for dinner w/2 Fat Tire "draught " ($2.50 a piece) was $16.66...whaaatt!! The amount of 5 star reviews is lost on me. We went to Penn Murry Bar & Kitchen last night because of its apparent popularity on Yelp. We were immeasurable disappointed. The ambiance is that of a local bar in rundown, high crime neighborhood. There were boxes piled in a corner of the dining room, which looked like it was just put back together after a brawl. So we sat at the bar. The service was veeeery sloooow. I watched as the server forgot my wife's drink order then remembered 10 minutes later. We ordered fried zucchini and a dozen wings. We waited around 45 minutes for the zucchini to come out. The only saving grace was that the food was good. The zucchini was breaded and had a nice flavor. The wings were plump and meaty. (BTW, a dozen wings costs $30 but I think that's due to inflation.) We didn't like our experience here. My wife thought the place was dirty and disorganized. She got sick after dinner though I did not. We will not be returning. read more

We visited Penn Murry for lunch and enjoyed the cod sandwiches in two versions: breaded and blackened. Besides the fish being cooked to perfection, the bread was fresh and high quality. They serve homemade chips with sandwiches but we also swapped for fries on one. Both really fine. Free refills on fountain drinks and a really nice husband/wife team own and run this restaurant. Love supporting local! Indoor and outdoor seating throughout the year with some porch heaters. Prices are reasonable and the menu is diverse enough for non meat eaters that like fish, pasta, and more, and a very nice selection of meat sandwiches, entrees and more. I see tiramisu in the desserts so I'll have to go back and try a few more items. read more

Food is pretty good for bar food especially the whole wings. But $29 for a dozen wings? Are you kidding me? They were only $19 several months ago. Prices per pound are now cheaper today than pre-Covid. The wings are very good and come in a cute box to keep them hot until you get home. This place is a dive and don't expect anything different. There's stuff just littered all over the dining room, the menus were dirty, the water tasted nasty (and I'm from the area and drink tap water all the time, so not sure why it tasted so bad). At least they wiped the table off. We waited almost an hour and a half for our food. There was only one other table being served at the time and others in the restaurant who were just watching the game over some beers. We were starving and the food took forever to come out. And that's after we sat at the table for 20 minutes without even being asked what drinks we wanted. When the food finally came it was only serviceable because we were so hungry. There was no flavor in the sandwich or chips. And the pickle was soggy and tasted funny. I will probably never come here again. Hubs and I hit the PM on a Friday night because I needed (NEEDED) a burger. Specifically, I needed a Bleu Burger with tomato, lettuce and onions. Awe.... she says "our Bleu cheese is smoked... is that ok?" yes! YES! PERFECT!!! I started with fried green tomatoes which were also perfect, right down to their dijonish mayo sauce. The burger came, medium as promised -1/2# of lovliness on a nice fresh bun. Chips came with, so I was all set. Hubs got the Philly cheesesteak and was very happy. He also got a side of fries which were golden and plentiful. The only downer was the iced tea, while being acceptable, was cloudy and heading towards bitter. The dining area is in progress, decorated for Halloween. The service was nice and attentive, but not hovering. Hubs is wanting to try the fish, and I'm wanting to test the fried pickles. I think I might have found my new "watering hole" in the Export/Murrysville area. This place offers some good beer on draft, friendly and eager bartenders and servers, and pretty dang good pub fare. It knows what it is and serves it well. From chicken wings to some solid appetizers, along with a good sandwich or two - the Penn Murry delivers! The stuffed pretzel alone might ruin my diet for a while...either way, if you're in the area, stop in for a cold one. There will be friendly folks inside to take care of you. read more

We gave the Penn Murry a try. I actually never went to this place when it was the Cozy Inn. The atmosphere seems to be upgraded from what it was, but work still needs done. The food we had was really good. The wings are full and were very meaty. My only complaint was the sweet and tangy sauce was not that good. My wife however had the Thai Chili sauce which was great. It looks like there is about 10 different flavors of wings. Menu at this point isnt very extensive. I would definitely go back. read more

My review on this place is more of the level of going to a bar and having bar food. That's why I give it 4 starts for being a decent bar and with decent bar food. So we walked in and it was pretty empty but it was early afternoon on a Sunday. March Madness was on so we sat at the bar and looked around. The television's were decent sized and all around. It's a nice atmosphere for a game. The nice bartender came over and greeted us. They have your typical bar draft beer and bottles. They have a few craft beers too. I just got a Labatt and my wife did get a Ipa. We were hungry and my wife wanted to try their fish sandwich. I was going to try a sandwich too but my wife reminded me that when we try new places that I like to try their pizza first. Their pizza looked good so I ordered a 8 cut pepperoni and sausage pizza. We got our drinks and our food came out about 10 to 15 minutes later. Carrie's fish was big and looked good but she said it actually wasn't that good. They have nice bun, the fish was big, but the fish was bland unfortunately. So the fish wasn't great but my pizza was really good. I was really impressed and took some home and enjoyed it even more at home. I'm still thinking about that pie. So that's why I'm giving this place a 4. The pizza is really good and it is a decent place to watch sports and have a beer. Might have to stop by again on a Sunday afternoon to watch some baseball this summer. read more

Move over Jiggers, there's a new dog in town. In an earlier review of the Cozy Inn, I told readers to 'avoid it like the Ebola virus'. They must have listened because the Cozy Inn closed, and re-opened as the Penn Murry under new ownership. This place was great. The food was excellent bar food. Exceptional hometown food. Try the tailgate, halushki, the best kalbaski I've ever had, and pierogies. The pierogies are from a box, but covered in buttery sauce with onions. The halushki and kalbaski are the stars of this show. Staff is extremely friendly and aim to please. I've heard the hot sausage is also delicious. Want out of the ordinary, check out this place. Oh and least I forget, fried dough for desert. You'll think you are at your church fair. You can't go wrong with a stop here. read more

Penn Murry hands down is one of the best places around. Whether your looking just to grab a quick bite or looking to stay and enjoy a delicious dinner - this is the perfect place. The entrees, sandwiches, pizzas and soups are all homemade because they take pride in having good quality food. The staff is excellent and it shows commitment to see the owners are consistently there to make sure all is running smoothly. Like any place, it get can get crowded and a bit hectic at times (especially for Steeler and Pens games), but that makes it all the more fun! I met my parents here for dinner, drinks and Penguins playoff hockey. We shared pierogie nachos, which were tasty, but a little on the cold side, and not the greatest appetizer for sharing. But really, not terrible. For dinner I had BBQ wings. The seasoning was on point and the wings were huge. I actually couldn't finish all six and had two boxed to take home. We had great seating in front of a large screened TV and everyone was having a great time cheering on the Pens. Our waitress was very sweet and gave us high fives for each Pens score. I think Penn Murry is just working out the kinks as far as timing goes from the kitchen and bar, but it is going to be a great addition to the Murrysville food scene (can't believe I'm saying Murrysville has a food scene). read more

Just came to this place after a nutty links trip with the boys, service was atrociously slow, appetizers came out after the meals and when asking for refills or side sauces they at least took ten minutes to come out. It took us about 2 hrs to leave the restaurant completely Food was bearable, but the wings, let me tell you, they were so plump and fat and juicy.
