We got the fried zucchini, Bavarian pretzel and onion rings as appetizers. Delicious! I enjoyed my Bleu Cheese Bacon Burger. It had that really nice chargrilled taste. Great atmosphere! I especially enjoyed hearing the water outside. They don't take reservations so we had to wait a while for our group of 10 to be seated. Service was just ok.

My review is based off of our visit which happened to be their first day of being open to the public. I will start by saying the place is beautiful. The service we encountered, even with it being the first day of business, and them being very busy, was phenomenal. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and seemed to really know what they were doing. For the food, we tried the Smothered Chicken dinner, Chicken Parm, a Chicken Parm Style Chicken Sandwich, and an order of the Mozz Wedges as an appetizer. Everything we had was good, and there were no issues with it. The sauce was good, the quality of the meat was very good, and everything was cooked properly. I thought the menu options for dinners was a little light, but, they did mention on one of their handouts that they were operating under a smaller menu for the time being due to pandemic and staffing issues. Hoping they add some menu options to their dinner menu, as well as some alternative side options and inclusions.

Kodiax Barn & Grill is pretty cool local spot. A good menu, delicious drinks and some ax throwing! Everything is it's own entity, you can enjoy a nice dinner in a nice lodge. It's decorated cozy and the service is great. I enjoyed the seared fish salad and fried pickles for appetizer. Loved it! Also, loved their holiday drinks. Ax throwing is a different room, it's fun with a large group.

I stopped because we need food and a bathroom. Close to the highway. We found this wonderful place that looks like a lot of fun. We got Pittsburgh sandwiches quickly and beer. Food was good and plenty to eat. Place has a wonderful outdoor patio. Ax throwing area, and beautiful water display. Cool place to eat on the patio.

Beautiful place, great service and good food. Had the chicken parm fried chicken sandwich and it was pretty good!

They have various animal heads throughout the place.

Food was very good and service was excellent. And the price of the food was good. Liquor was a little expensive.

Worst food ever. Bad service, not enough food for the high price paid. Food is not to standard. Needs a good chef or to shut down.

Unfortunately, this is the first time I have felt compelled to leave a negative review on a place…read more My boyfriend and I had high hopes for our Valentine's dinner at Small Town Tavern. We had never been, but our expectations fell drastically short. I ordered the endless crab legs and my boyfriend had the prime rib, both premium-priced entrees for the holiday, along with specialty drinks. The Valentine's promotion never mentioned that sharing wasn't allowed, and our waitress, although very kind, never stated it either. The issue arose when the manager came over and offered "refills" without clarifying she meant crab legs. Since both of our drinks were empty, we assumed she meant beverages. Instead of clarifying, she just gave us a look that made us feel as if we were stupid, which made the interaction uncomfortable. When we realized she was talking about crab legs, she asked if we both had ordered them. I said, "No, just me" but I also mentioned that my boyfriend had eaten a crab leg or two. In the moment, I didn't realize he hadn't actually even eaten any--he was just helping me crack them open. That's when she abruptly told us we weren't supposed to be sharing. If there is a strict no-sharing policy, it should be clearly communicated in the promotion or at the table beforehand. Being corrected mid-meal, especially in a dismissive tone, took away from what was supposed to be a special Valentine's experience. Clearer communication and a more welcoming approach would go a long way.

It is clean, and they've done a good job keeping with the sports bar theme. As far as apps go, we've tried the Fried Deviled Eggs, the Brussels Sprouts with all the good bacon and bleu cheese, the pretzel bites, and the humongous Cheese Stick (The Big Stick) "snake" haha. All were AMAZING. For dinners, we've tried the Cajun Shrimp pasta, Lemon Herb Chicken (went back twice just for this one!), Chicken Parm, a Steak Quesadilla, Gnocchi, Chicken Cutlet Sandwich, and the Pierogi Flatbread. We loved everything, and would have no problem getting them again. My ONLY criticism would be two things: 1, that the marinara that is used is very acidic, and 2, I didn't care for the French Onion Soup that I upgraded to. Both of these, though, could purely just be a preference/personal taste thing. Would I get them again?--Yes. They weren't bad. Just not what I prefer. We definitely are glad this restaurant has opened, and look forward to going back again soon! They have a good price vs. portion vs. quality going for them, and I really hope they can stay consistent with how things are going. It is definitely worth giving the place a chance. I will update accordingly.

It reminds me of an old school mom and pop place - there's a u-shaped bar when you walk in the door with some tables around to the left and a small room to your right with additional tables. It was pretty clear when we walked in that it's a local favorite - we felt like everyone knew we were not local. But that dissipated quickly when a waitress greeted us and took us to a table. They were quite busy on a Friday evening, but the service was relatively quick once we got started. My daughter got the pierogies and I ordered the filet. Each of our meals came with a side salad - and let me tell you, that "side" salad could have been a meal itself. Not only was it large, it was a good variety of veggies and black olives. My daughter also ordered a side of meatballs and they were just okay - there was something about the taste and texture that neither of us liked nor could we pinpoint what was turning us off exactly. They almost tasted stale. The pierogies were delicious, including the browned onions. My filet had a nice sear and was cooked medium rare as I ordered, but it has a bit of an oily coating that was a little off putting. The flavor was good, but I prefer my steak with a little seasoning. The asparagus was overcooked and mushy, but the baked potato was massive and cooked to perfection. The amount of food you get is substantial. I'd definitely go back and try some other menu options or get the pierogies again!

The building is a beautiful mansion Est. in 1806. The mansion was converted to a restaurant in 1975. You need reservations for the upper upscale dining area. We decided to eat in the Speakeasy room located in the basement because it was more casual. Glad we ate in speakeasy room because it was a really nice cave looking room with vintage decor and cool prohibition photos from the 1920s. We enjoyed the Half Rack of char grilled pork ribs with brown sugar, soy and ginger with a side of cheesy scallop potatoes. For dessert, we enjoyed the crème brûlée and Kahlua cheesecake. Everything we ordered was excellent!! We had really good service. Check this place out if ever in the area. Happy Yelping :)

The ambiance is intimate and welcoming. The interior and decor really add to the charm. We had reservations for 10 at 6:30 on a Saturday. We were sat in a back room at a nice big table. Sonny (sp?) our wait staff did a phenomenal job keeping up with all of our requests. A couple diners in our group were picky eaters, and even with their nitpicking he maintained a great attitude and made sure to make everyone feel at home. They had a great selection of summer specials. I opted for the hibiscus mule - a yummy cocktail with a tequila twist. My husband got the strawberry smash. Both drinks were strong and full of flavor. Thank goodness the homemade rolls came after my drink because the mule was kicking in! The bread was soft and you could tell it was homemade. Then came the food. The presentation was gorgeous and the flavors were on point. We ordered the calamari as our appetizer. Lightly breaded and not overly salty like you get some places. The sweet chili sauce with it was the perfect addition. For dinner we had the prime rib, and salmon Hemingway, with a side of scalloped potatoes and Parisian carrots. I was getting full but couldn't help but finish my salmon. Everything tasted amazing! The potatoes were rich and creamy. I had to save room for dessert. They were out of my first choice of chocolate mousse cake, so I opted for the creme brûlée. Wonderful experience at the Back Porch. I highly recommend enjoying a date night or celebratory dinner here!
