I had never been to Smallcakes before, so I asked the clerk to give me a rundown which visibly annoyed her. I awkwardly ordered six cupcakes (large in size, high in price) from their sparse selection, careful not to upset the clerk further. I was able to gleam that they offer cakes, ice cream, and cupcakes. My complaints are about communication and final execution. I had asked about tres leches cake which they said they could make, however after following up on a design they told me they could not make that cake. I had emailed, called, left voicemails too many times to count. I never got a call back and my emails were replied seldom and all too brief. In the final days I wasn't even sure the cake was even being made. I called to submit a payment, no answer left ANOTHER voicemail. We've been coming to this bakery for years and this is her third cake from them and our favorite yet. I asked for a tree stump cake since she wanted a woodland fairy theme, and just left the decorating up to baker's choice beyond that. What they came up with was better than what I had in mind. We added mushroom candles and some little fairy figurines, and everyone thought it was almost too beautiful to eat. Glad we did though, since it was moist and delicious.
