I've asked to be unsubscribed from their magazine multiple times, but I still receive this wasteful trash in the mail.

Would give it 0 stars if I could. if you actually want your writing skills to flourish, look…read moreelsewhere. You won't be given opportunities as they give coveted positions to their friends. The journalism department is run by complete idiots who will cancel classes that you need (including investigative journalism) because of low enrollment. Even if it says that its a required class, they'll tell you to take something else. The Sundial is run by the same idiots. The instructor plays favorites. He'll decide if you get paid or if you don't get paid, even if you have the same exact position and do the same exact work as someone else, they'll be paid and you won't be. The students give their friends editor positions when they aren't qualified. If you don't know anyone in the class, you will get a shit position. The paper itself sucks because the "editors" aren't qualified and spew out complete crap and call it good writing. I advise you - look elsewhere if you value your journalism career.

Is the paper perfect? Of course not! I's a student run paper…read more That being said... it's still pretty good! Here's why: It offers local and campus news. It fosters a sense of community and gives the campus a voice. The photographers and reporters get out there during crises, like the Oviatt Gunman and the Occupy LA raid. It's a real-world learning experience for the photographers, reporters, writers and editors. It provides student jobs in marketing and advertising. It's financially independent. The people that work there are very down to earth and passionate. The Publisher is very flexible and lets the staff try new things and new ideas. The advertising department has a philosophy of connecting local businesses with the campus rather than just taking people's money. It runs 4 days a week, and has a lot of corresponding multimedia web content online essentially 24/7. So next time you are on campus pick up a copy!
