I have used Nextdoor Electric once for actual work and also obtained three quotes from them. My…read moreusual electrical company, Blue Electrical Contractors, was super busy so I decided to try Nextdoor based on their Yelp reviews. I had them take down an old outdoor ceiling fan from my back porch and install two new ceiling lights: one in the same spot as the ceiling fan and the other over the seating area to provide more light (see photo). The job cost $572 which I thought was a little bit high, but I wanted the work done. Two big issues with the job: First of all, the technician didn't install the round ceiling light insulation discs in each fixture (see photo) which is to my understanding required to meet Underwriters Laboratory requirements. (The insulation is used to reflect heat from incandescent bulbs.) He also cracked one of the plastic conduit hangers so that it was actually broke. I found the insulation thrown in the garbage and had to dig them back out and have the technician come back to put them in and replace the broken hanger. Also, wasn't really keen on the fact that he used plastic hangers vs. metal to hang the conduit. Another issue was that I wanted a multi-outlet switch in my garage changed out to a standard outlet; see photo. Nextdoor quoted me $187 to change it out. Caido, from Blue Electrical Contractors stopped by and I had him look at it. It was only a cover; Caido unscrewed one screw and the regular outlet was underneath. I could have done it had I known this. It took Caid 5 seconds to take the multi-outlet cover off and he didn't charge me a thing. Okay. This is ridiculous! $187??!! This shows me the technician from Nextdoor Electric didn't even know what he was quoting. I was speaking to Caido from Blue Electric about Nextdoor and how I will never use them again, but can't understand their great reviews. Caido was telling me that Nextdoor's reviews could be fake and/or purchased. I really am questioning these reviews. I will never have them do any work for me again. Go with Blue Electric the next time you need electrical work; I have used them for years.

Michael and Nick were knowledgeable, professional, and fully explained the work and equipment we needed. They installed a more compact electronic system and app for our overhead speakers, as well as new security cameras and wiring. They also upgraded our wifi with two ceiling-mounted connections that eliminated all of our small plug-in boosters. Our wifi speed boosted from 500 to 1000. Amazing! Woodlands Home Theater had previously wall-mounted a large media-room TV screen for us as well as the family room TV. We will definitely use them in the future due to their value vs. cost.

I'd already purchased two TVs, but he supplied all the wifi equipment, sound equipment, speakers, remote controls - basically everything. It was all high-quality materials. He did all the work himself, too. Jared is very knowledgeable. He took the time to explain all my options to me. When I wanted to add something in the attic, he took a look, and then was able to explain to me how there would have to be expensive HVAC done to accommodate it. I felt like he really wanted me to be able to make choices I'd be happy with in the long run. Equally important, Jared's attitude is great and very friendly. He really cares about what he's doing. It's been a couple years since he's installed my system and I sometimes deprogram something or screw it up. AMN is always very prompt in coming out and resetting things. They have excellent follow-up. I've put them on our community Facebook neighbors page and recommend them when I can.

Jared, from AMN, came over and was quickly able to diagnose that, unfortunately, the subwoofer was toast. Jared did a fantastic job helping me to understand my replacement options. He recommended 2 or 3 subwoofers and gave me a good, better, best scenario that would fit my budget. We ordered it, and he had the rest of the sound system, including the remote, up and running in under an hour. He also took the time to go over the other components of my system and let me know what items were great, medium quality, and which I should consider replacing eventually. A few days later when the subwoofer arrived, he came back and installed it. I'd ended up choosing a subwoofer I'd never heard of before, and it is awesome. The whole surround sound system is working fantastic now. I'd recommend AMN to anyone needing audio video help, and already have.

They were very knowledgeable -- quickly narrowed down where the problem likely was instead of guessing, and explained what they were checking and why as they went. Communication was great the whole way through: quick to respond, kept me posted on what they'd tried and what was next, no long silences wondering what was happening. Their troubleshooting was logical and methodical -- they worked through possibilities systematically (power, PoE ports, connectors, wiring, NVR settings, etc.) rather than just throwing parts at it, which saved time and avoided unnecessary guesswork. They were also thorough, checking every angle carefully and documenting what they found along the way. Professional, efficient, and clearly experienced.
