I reserved a 10 foot truck to be picked up at 9am this past Sunday to move to my new condo in Lawrenceville, NJ. The person who rented the truck before me never returned the truck! We waited until noon (when the place closes). We were not able to rent a truck that day because the only other 10 foot truck they had was in the shop. Perfect. So I had to move on Monday, after work, in the rain. To top it off, they were supposed to only hold the amount of the deposit during the time of rental and immediately return the funds upon return of the rental, but they CHARGED my debit card the amount of the deposit ($150). Barry, the ONLY guy who seems to work at this place, claims that Budget Truck Rental now has to write a letter to the bank telling them to put the funds back in my account, which could take up to two weeks. My in-person experience at this location was atrocious with Ashley H. She almost refused to offer receipt confirmation of my transaction. After asking for it twice, she finally agreed to get up out of her seat to check-in my rented Uhaul truck. Upon jumping in the vehicle, she haphazardly blurted that something was in the truck (i.e., my fiancé's singular blanket). I said that I could retrieve it. As I'm latching onto the sides of the truck to enter, she starts the motor of truck (as I'm entering the back), which seems dangerously rocky (from the back of shaky truck). When she finally checked in my vehicle and offered a printed receipt, I was charged inaccurately. At several points of conversation, I had to continually ask if she was speaking to me or the cell phone conversation participant. She continued to have casual conversation with a friend (via Bluetooth) for our entire interaction. I am hard of hearing, which makes horrible customer service experiences even worse to manage. I asked to speak with a manager. The experience continued to deteriorate from there, and I finally had to contact the corporate phone number. Mrs. De La Cruz (from corporate customer service) was warm hearted and wonderful, though.
