I had asked for Amara, because I saw some reviews about her talent with long, thick & wavy hair. The girl at the front reception, was super nice. Amara came to get me & I explained that I'm Deaf/Hoh but I can read lips & I can speak. I just need her to look at me when she speaks. I told her that I have a nerve illness (CRPS) & that the color has been burning my head a little bit & recently. Amara suggested that I get my color done at a different salon. But I could go to 202 salon, and she could cut it. I don't want to go to 2 different salons. So, I asked her to do a test piece, to see if their color burned my scalp. (I had to think of that idea on my own & I had to ask her to do it). She did It & did not burn. I made an appointment & decided not to cut my hair at this time, but to try having Amara color my Roots every 4 weeks or so. I 1st had made an appointment only for a haircut. I was going to do a haircut but cancelled that, with a week notice. I emailed to cancel that haircut & rescheduled for a root touch up instead, 1st week June or so. They did cancel but nobody ever responded to make a root touch up appointment for me. So I contacted Amara at Instagram. I told her I want to only do my root touch ups for now. I wanted to come in around June 7,8 or 10th. When she responded, she was very short & just said "she was either off or booked during that time". I thought it was odd that she offered no other options! I wrote back & said I would like a root touch only but was there any other dates open? She had written "haircut and grey coverage" so I just told her I was holding off on the cut for now. It's been many days -almost a week, & she has never written back to me. I feel like she is being unkind either because I'm Deaf/hoh & she doesn't want to work with me because of that & because my scalp had burned after a formula change at another salon. But we did a test piece & I was fine. I'm just very disappointed that I'm being treated this way! She doesn't want to do my hair, but why? I was very nice and I thought of the idea to do test a piece. I mean it's ridiculous to go to 2 different salons. I must say that the first day, at the consultation, I felt rushed, not cared about & I had to think of a solution on my own. She wouldn't even try. But I tried not to worry about the small stuff. I wanted to try that salon & her because of the reviews about her with my kind of hair. I'm very disappointed in the treatment I received from her at this salon 202 in Waco, Texas. What is wrong here, that Amara wasn't even willing to go out of her way at all to be accommodating. She never even responded & I was very very kind to her.

Cat was super kind and she really listened! There was a piece of my hair (due to me letting a friend cut it) that was sitting funny and when I mentioned it, instead of brushing me off telling me "that's just how my hair is" (or something to that effect) she heard me out and worked with me. I love my hair! This is my first haircut where it's exactly down to the T what I wanted. Cat is also engaging and doesn't just leave you feeling like you're just another client she's trying to rush out the door. I highly recommend this salon it was such a pleasure!
