I don't know how she did it- but the waxing itself didn't hurt, and I wasn't left with what normally looks like hot pink eyeshadow. On top of all, she is super cool, played awesome music and had me in and out! Along with the waxing, Jade, the salon owner, has been doing my hair for a few years now. She always leaves my hair looking so amazing and feeling/looking healthier than ever. From the hair treatments, to the color and cut, to the styling, she does a great job and makes 4 hours feel like 45 minutes. Jade is a great conversationalist and I always have the most fun. I chose Marissa, because she had some openings on a day I had off of work. Marissa did an amazing job on my color and highlight. She was so personable and friendly, and listed to exactly what I wanted, and what my concerns were right at the beginning. She understood precisely what I was going for and NAILED IT with the color. I chickened out on the haircut after all, but I would definitely trust her to cut my hair in the future. The products used were incredible, smelled great and did not leave smells on my hair after the highlights were done. The look is so natural to me and left me feeling confident. But regardless, I've never been able to get in and out of the salon in 2-2.5 hours for my difficult hair and Taelor delivers! The receptionists and everyone is so friendly, plus they carry Oribe and Unite products. They recycle everything they use and provide referral discounts too.

After the barber shop downtown closed, I had a hard time getting my hair cut anywhere nearby. Went to Great Clips in Dublin, where one of the staff gave me the number for this place. The owner has been cutting hair for years, and has set up this nice little shop across the street from the Cheese House. Keep your eyes peeled; it sits in a little cluster of buildings. There is a sign out front. My hair isn't exactly complicated, and she made it look nice (nice enough for Sweetie, and who else do I have to please?) Trimmed my beard, too, far better than I can. Price was very reasonable, the owner is friendly, and the building is clean. It ain't exactly the old neighborhood barber shop, but those places are disappearing. I decided to try this salon after reading a review elsewhere that compared it to Penzone's and Kenneth's. They were certainly right about the prices being similar - my basic cut was $38 - but the service didn't come close. I had an appointment scheduled at 10 a.m., arrived several minutes before, and was called back right on time. The cut was fine - though I didn't enjoy that the stylist smelled strongly of cigarette smoke - but if i'm paying well over $40 after tip for a haircut, I expect more than a cut. I actually expect that my hair will be styled. My first clue that the experience would not be what I expected was when the stylist asked if I wanted my hair dried. Uhhhh - of course I want my hair dried. First of all, it was January, and second of all ????? Isn't a style part of the cost of the haircut at that price? I thought they only asked questions like that at the Walmart salon. Then at 10:25, the reception came back and told the stylist her next appointment was there. I didn't care that the next appointment arrived so early, but didn't think it was necessary for reception to interrupt my appointment to say so. At that point, she had dried my hair and only styled the hair that framed my face, so I thought I still had a good 15 minutes left in the appointment because the entire back was completely untouched. The stylist stopped and asked what I thought. This was the first time a stylist didn't hand me a mirror so I could see the back. Maybe because she knew the back looked like a haystack. I picked up a random side piece that not been styled and said, "It's OK - but you are going to finish this, right?" "Yes, yes," she said. Then she proceeded to take just that one piece and straighten and style it, leaving the rest. After that, she took off the cape and sent me to the reception desk, even though it was clear I wasn't remotely close to done. Apparently my appointment really was only booked for half an hour. In a nutshell: My cut was fine. After getting home and spending the extra 10 minutes doing some styling, I was quite happy with it. But I paid $45 after tip for an experience I could have had at Great Clips. If you pay upscale salon prices, you expect upscale salon service. I have never had a cut and style at Kenneth's last less than 45 minutes. I was loyal to my last salon for 15 years, and have been looking for someone to give my business to. Typically, you get a stylist's best service and work on your first appointment. That's why I have no plans to return.
