Fun for the whole family .went for a family date night and made pottery on the wheel.

I wanted to love this place but the sugar land location is so poorly run, I just can't. It's a great concept but the horrible customer service makes it not worth it, and in the end they lost our pieces and didn't care. 1. From the beginning, I had a subpar experience because the employee helping us make our pieces was new (which is fine, nobody can help that) but instead of explaining how to create the work or having a more experienced employee shadow her training, she kept getting frustrated and would say "here, I'll just show you" and ended up basically making the pottery for us. She was sweet but lacked training and patience, so she didn't let us make our own pottery. She also kept bantering with her colleague while we sat there waiting to hear what to do next. 2. Then 6 weeks goes by and we didn't hear back about our piece, my husband and I kept calling and finally after a week, someone answered and said yes it's ready. 3. Now we have painted and sent them to the fire and we went to pick it up this evening. They are moving locations and everything was packed up. The employee said he can't find it and it was probably recycled. The most they can offer is 50% off a new pottery experience. Taken aback, I said hey that's really uncool, and kind of messed up. He said we should have picked it up within 2 weeks and it's been almost 60 days. It's been exactly 40 days, and we just had Xmas and New Years, AND they're only open Thursday through Sunday. Nonetheless that is my blunder, I recognize that. Still, they can call someone before throwing away their pieces. The employee said, "We used to do that, but it was bad for business." 4. The final straw was when the employee said, "I'll look through on Monday at the warehouse to see if it's there," and my husband asked, "and you'll call us?" The employee said Yeah. My husband said, "and you have our number on file?" which prompted him to check in front of us. HE DIDNT EVEN HAVE OUR NUMBER! The guy was never planning on calling us because I was upset about our pieces possibly being thrown away. So they can take six weeks to notify us our pieces are ready, but we can't take 4 weeks to pick it up? They should admit our stuff was thrown away or lost because they're moving locations, not because we took an extra 2 weeks to pick it up. Neither the email that said it was ready nor the employees at time of painting indicated that we HAD to pick it up in two weeks or else they'll recycle our pieces. Almost every employee at this location has zero customer service training (except one lady who helped us paint our pieces). I have never felt so strongly about an establishment that I wrote an extensive review. My advise is to take your $ elsewhere. Makes sense why this location isn't even on Google maps, only Apple Maps. They probably had awful reviews. I'm so disappointed in Smashed & genuinely sad at how I've been treated. read more

We had a pretty good experience with Smashed Clay for date night! Our instructor was very nice and helpful. We did the couples challenge so we were able to make two pieces in about an hour or so. Only negative for us is the pick up is a little inconvenient. Not the waiting part, but the fact that once they are ready for pick up you have 3 weeks to get them, but they are not open Monday thru Wednesday, and don't open until 11am the other days so it's a little challenging with our schedules read more

Let me start by saying Jasmine was the bomb ! This location is so much more together than the one in Town & Country. They went over safety rules and how to properly spin the wheel prior to class beginning. It's definitely larger and more accommodating for date nights and girls night out at this location. You definitely won't feel cramped up here. Make sure you wear clothes you won't mind getting dirty. This isn't the let me be cute activity. Smashed clay was a nice experience! It is byob (which your hands will be clay so drinking may be a bit limited). You come back and paint what pottery you make 3 weeks later. It was a nice introduction into what could turn into a hobby is the best way i would describe it. But also something nice to do to interact with someone who may join you (whether it be a partner, peer, colleagues etc). Edvard was my instructor and he was an amazing teacher. Great place to learn something new and see if you want to continue in your craft of pottery! read more

When I tell you, this place was so much fun. My boyfriend booked it for something for us to do, I am so glad he did it. We had too amazing instructors, Namira and La'voreyha. The sugarland store has no WiFi. No phone. Super super hard to checkout. The staff is amazingly helpful. Lupe did a great lesson. Manager Jackie explains things very well. But beware if an issue main management is horrible. It's been a long long time since I've had someone talk over me. Raise voice. And not offer a solution or even want to hear how to make it right. Thank goodness I drove back to store and they heard me and made it right. I wish I had never spoke to main management as they make the store look bad. read more

I've never experienced such bad service. When I went to go pick up the pieces that I made, they told me they had been recycled, despite the fact that I had been told they would be held for me while I was out of town. They didn't even inform me before throwing them out. I can't believe I spent that much time and money to have them throw away what I made and not even have the decency to be apologetic about it much less try to make amends for it. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to go here as a date activity since we learned there was a pottery class that opened recently. We went to their website and booked a spot for couples at the same day. It is located in Sugar Land Town Square so we parked in the parking garage and walked to the shop. It is located next to Ann Taylor Loft. We came in and checked in. They asked each of us to pick a type of pottery we wanted to create and any design on the outside of the pottery. We shared a pottery wheel and work together to create the pieces. The staff are super duper friendly and willing to help at all times. They went step by step. It is definitely harder than it looks. We can't wait to see our pieces. Overall, we had a fun experience of making our own pottery. I would recommend if you are looking to try something new or want to try pottery, you should do it! Smashed Clay is the perfect place to celebrate Anniversaries at. I booked a session for me and my boyfriend for our 4 year anniversary and the experience was so fun. Hannah, our mentor helped us all throughout the process of making the our mugs. She made sure that no one gets left behind and made the class fun and enjoyable. The place is clean and neat, as well as organized. They are clear about their instructions regarding the pick up times of the clay. They also send out texts for reminders ans stays on top of it. The manager is so sweet as well and answered all our questions regarding the class. 10/10 would go back again!!! read more

It was a wonderful place to let your crafty side out. The facility was clean and warming place to be at.

Disappointing to say the least. It's very pricey and we barely worked on the clay for not more than 20 minutes, the rest of the time was taken up by some instructions, filling out forms, washing your hands etc. The instructors while professional didn't make it a fun, lively event. I would choose another type of art place to spend that kind of money. read more

Everyone was so nice and helpful. We went in a large group for work and enjoyed our experience.

Ray and Hannah are the poop. But when you gotta take a poop there's no second sink to wash your hands. So much fun though!

The staff here was great! We had a wonderful experience making our clay pieces. Even though we sucked, the staff was very encouraging and salvaged our pieces into beautiful works of art.
