The worst dental practice I have ever been to!! The hygienist if you could call her that spent almost an hour doing X-rays!! I asked her if she was doing one tooth at a time and she said no, 2!!! The dentist came in and said "you need a deep cleaning. I said no I just want a regular cleaning. Then he told her to polish my teeth!!! No mouth rinse, no cup of water so I walked out of there with gritty teeth!!! That's all I got after filling out a whole lot of paperwork and signing my life away. This is the first time, I have ever written a review. I usually, like to communicate and resolve, whatever issues may arise. Unfortunately, that doesn't apply here. I came to tarzana dental four years ago. I was struggling with missing teeth and couldn't yet, afford implants. So, the alternative was for me to get partials, meanwhile. I had no idea, what was to come. They changed me 8,000 dollars and charged 900 on my denta-cal. Fast forward a couple of years, and I was told by multiple dentists that they had pulled many healthy teeth, that was unnecessary and no reason for it. Not only that, the partials were very uncomfortable, painful, and worst of all, they caused the remaining teeth to move due to sleeping on my side, whith them off at night. The side of my face, became sunken down and my whole bite was off, so much so that I couldn't close my mouth, because the teeth and partials we were extremely uneven. I went back many times, and all they did was attempt to adjust it, with no improvement. I really don't want anyone else to go through what I had to endure. Not only did they overcharge me, they pulled healthy teeth and now looking back, in hindsight, it seems that my mistake was, my naivete in telling them that I was planning on getting implants in the near future. I expected a little empathy on their part, in that they are the professionals and I trusted them, they didn't guide me in the right thing to do. It would have helped me, tremendously, to know that all these problems could arise. The fact that my whole top bite moved to right and it is still very much uneven. From side to side and top and bottom. They just stuck a partial that never fit right and caused much more damage that, sadly, I can't rectify in any way. My only intention is, that you have enough knowledge of what can happen, when you your dentist doesn't care about his patients. read more

Update: DO NOT GO HERE Unfortunately, COVID is not to blame for Myra and the rest of the front office staff providing me with misinformation. Prior to the pandemic, we had already faced many issues with their poor attitude, their deletion of our insurance details, and a dental appointment that I had to wait 3 hours for only to be told there wasn't any time left to be worked on and I had to come back on another day. Covid cannot be used as an excuse for Myra's poor handling of our situation, in which she showed no courtesy to us whatsoever, and basically offered us no solution. read more

Tarzana dental did some work on my tenth including 2 root canal and crowns recently. The doctor and her assistant Mariam did a great job and they were great with their hands and handling my teeth. They were very nice in calming me down since I'm normally nervous and don't like to visit dentist, but they really took care of me when I was there. My mother went here to get extractions. Mariscela, the dental assistant was very attentive and caring. She was kind while she was performing my mother's x-rays and preparing her for the procedure. Dr Hizon was wonderful. She made the procedure easy for my mother. She's very professional and great at keeping her patients at ease. All they seem to care about is MONEY! I went in today for my appointment which I set last week , just for them to take xrays and for them to proceed to tell me I need a root canal , a deep cleaning and for it to be authorized so they couldn't do anything for me today. I got Invisalign Braces for my lower teeth a few months ago, and I came in May 1st, 2018 to get my Invisalign buttons removed. Not surprised, Doctor N and his staff did not have my Retainer prepared. Doctor N. assured me on the day of my May visit that he would have my retainer in for me within a few weeks.... this was not done. The correction that I had done with Invisalign is hardly noticeable now, and this is due to the negligence and horrible customer service that I received here. It is now June 4th; over a month of waiting for my Invisalign retainer and I have not received a call back from Doctor N., as I have called and requested to speak to him several times. Getting the Invisalign service at this particular location was a waste of time and I would highly recommend that you visit another dentist/ orthodontist if you want a professional job done. I broke a tooth at Toms Urban Spoon in LA love by biting in to a Lobster Sandwich, I didn't expect it to have a shell, so... Crunch, crack, a small piece of my tooth broke, being that I didn't have dental insurance I became hyper aware that I was in big trouble, along comes Dr Ebi Nikjoo at Tarzana Dental to save the day. After walking in to get a free quote, which I've done a two other dental offices I immediately assumed this would cost a million dollars, this office is where you would imagine a Royal Family would receive dental care, it looks like a dental mansion. Dr Nikjoo, gave me a quote that was already lower then the other two, but said since you don't have any insurance he'll see if the office manager would work with me, and they did, it was literally 30 lower than the lower of my first two quotes, and this one included a cleaning so I was happy and astonished at the same time. He proceeded to extract the tooth, which was one of the back teeth, then the cleaning. I'm going to sound corny, I already know, but I'll say it anyway, there's something to say about Doctors who have a higher level of professionalism and bed side manner, I felt like he cared about me and not just shuffle me through like I've experienced in the past, I want everyone to swing down and let them take care of you, I promise it will be a very pleasant experience, now on a totally unrelated topic, I'm off to find a chiropractor and maybe a acupuncturest, I'll knock out all my ailments in the same day read more

My experience here was awful. It started out great. I had a great cleaning, they processed my Aetna insurance quickly, and we discussed options for wisdom teeth extraction. We did a full wisdom tooth extraction consultation with pano scans and scheduled a surgery 4 weeks later. The receptionist at the front desk said that she would show the pano scans to the oral surgeon to confirm that the surgery would be possible because one tooth was close to the nerve in my lower jaw. She assembled an estimate for the surgery that didn't make sense and didn't have a final total I would be paying out of pocket with the Aetna deduction. I checked in with the receptionist 4 times- all responses were "I will show it to him really soon!" The day before the scheduled surgery, I checked in to see if we were still confirmed, and they had to cancel because they hadn't shown the panos to the surgeon. I travel for work and left for four months with wisdom teeth pain because my surgery was cancelled. I tried to book surgery with other dentists in the area, but they couldn't book a surgery because the files for the pano scans were unexported and unreadable to other dentist offices. After traveling, I went back in to schedule another surgery date with them. I had specified that I wanted Nitrous as well as local anesthetic. We were ready for a surgery 2 weeks later. Surgery day: I am in the chair ready for the surgery and the Nitrous machine was not working. Had to do the local anesthetic only. Note: This dentist office does not send prescriptions to pharmacies for pickup. You have to drop them off and wait for them to be filled. Two months after my surgery, the surgery cost was submitted to my old insurance company, United Healthcare, when the estimate they processed states Aetna. I called one of the people at the front desk and they didn't understand the problem. The only reason why this dentist office receives one star is because Dr. Nikjoo is very nice and did complete the extraction. read more

My filling failed within 3 months. However, my warning is about the billing practices. I am trying to determine if they are simply incompetent or fraudulent in their practices. I received an estimate to repair the failed filling and it seemed dramatically higher than my insurance coverage. In reviewing my proposed treatment and my old bill for the fillings, I discovered that nothing was correct. Codes were systematically over and underbilled. However, I was overbilled in total and they attempted to overcharge me for the repair work by about $600. I have metlife 85. The billing agent claimed she confused my plan with metlife plan 185. However I checked the co pays on this 185 plan to verify her claim, and none of the charges line up to this either. They attempted to charge me $450 for something that I had a $15 co pay on. Check every single billing code with a fine tooth comb against your coverage. Just looking at the dental codes, my bill would have been cut in half. I am filing a grievance against the practice with my insurance company and I urge any clients to seriously review their bills against their dental coverage. Whether this is incompetence or fraud, I could not say. But their billing agent was rude and dismissive when I pointed out the discrepancies. It seriously makes me question the procedures that have been suggested to me, which is unfortunate. Clean up your practice and straighten out your billing. read more

good looking dental office. the dental assistant i forget her name. (brunette hair one) everytime i left the office i left there with cuts on my lip or tongue. she was also pushy and rude. and was always in a rush to get things done. my wife is also a dental assistant and saw cross contaminating my blood in a bottle she picked up from a drawer using the tools that my blood was on. who knows how many times shes done it in the past? but im good people and i just want to point it out. idk about the pricing on crowns but they were going to charge me 950.00 and they said if i go anywhere else its going to be more expensive. when i found a office charging me half the price only. good thing i turned down the deal. and for my deep clean. i felt like i got a horrible job on the deep cleaning. it took her 35 to 45 minutes. i totally got ripped off. bc after my last deep cleaning, i felt my teeth much more cleaner. but its okay. i feel the need of adjustment for the dental assistant that assisted, that was for me. The dentist performed a cleaning of 1/2 of the mouth and scheduled an appointment for another 1/2 of the mouth for the following week. I took a day off, passionately waited for my turn (30 min), invited in (another 20 min) and received a numbing shot. ... then the doctor left for 30 min and upon return informed me that they do not have the right tools to clean around an implant, therefore I was advised that they will not do any work at all, but I have an option to complete a procedure at some other dentist - according to my insurance. read more

First off I would like to say that I am not a patient here the story comes from my experience of trying to be a translator for my friend and co-worker and again I am not a patient at this dental office nor I will ever be a patient My friend asked me to go with her to help her understand what was going on with the billing and her son's appointments and why they charged her card of $5,000 for a procedure that only cost $450 and after the doctor review the file he said that she actually owed $690 and this was just after we ask for a refund and this was just a deep cleaning by the way which is horrendously expensive .when I came into the office the lady tried to tell us that they were going to save the rest of the money that they charged to the card for the next time they come in when I translated the fact that they didn't want to go back to this office she didn't seem like she wanted to talk to me anymore we left the office with the promise of her calling me back by the end of the day after she talked to the doctor about a refund I did not hear back from her so we called her again and again she told us she would call us back by the end of the day after the doctor got a chance to look at the chart and again we did not get a phone call so when we called the next day she told me that she did not want to talk to me because the doctor told her that she shouldn't talk to me but only the patient now my friend was next to me the whole time we were on speaker phone and I was just translating to her what the lady was saying and what she wanted to say to the lady and I always use my please and thank yous after more than a week went by and we still didn't get a phone call back I called the office to inform them that we were just going to put a claim against them on the card at the end of the day they called me to tell me they returned the money or that they will return the money the next day which they did then I called the office because my friend needed to get a CT scan that they did on her son and I was informed that they did not want to talk to me again and again she was standing next to me they heard her voice and everything. they call her in the evening saying if she wants to study CT scan she needed to bring over $200 to the office and remove her review on the office from Yelp and maybe then they will give it to her I thought she might have misunderstood so with her standing next to me I called them again where the lady hung up on me and then called my friend's phone my friend puts it on speaker in the lady goes we're not going to talk to her anymore because she is rude I have never been rude to anybody but sometimes you have to get a Stern voice going and I still said my please and thank yous after they informed me that they won't talk to me anymore they told her to bring her other friend to the office to help her understand .the only problem is her other friend does not speak the language she speaks she only speaks English and Spanish and my friend needed someone that spoke Russian .so for one they denied her the right to a translator that she can understand and then they threatened her with taking her to claims I have worked in a dentist office for many years before I went into my career and I have never seen a person taken advantage of so much as I did this time around they took advantage of the fact that she didn't understand the laws and rules and her English was extremely bad they denied her her rights threatened her over a Yelp review I would never recommend this office to anybody I've been around dentist all my life and they're the most unprofessional office I've ever seen the doctor makes excuses and the staff does the same if you come to this office you will be taken advantage of and overcharged And one more time I would like to say I am not a patient at this office I have never been a patient here and I will never be a patient here I just wanted to tell my experience was trying to help a friend out and I'm sure they're going to come up with some excuse that I was very rude and maybe even say that I cussed but I have never cussed at them and I always said thank you the only thing I did was tell them I'm putting a report against them charging $5,000 to her card and the only reason I am leaving this review and so people know what happened read more

Please consider I've asked for time off from work after making an appointment with you 2 weeks in advance. I created a Yelp account so i can specifically write a review for this TERRIBLE dentists office! DO NOT GO HERE! I am a 23 year old student, who works full time, and has an apartment/bills to pay before anything else. When I had first went to see this office, they seemed to be nice and understanding of my financial situation. But boy was I so wrong. I had informed them before I even scheduled any work to be done, I informed the office that my financial situation is less than par - I let them know i would not be able to afford extensive work at once, and they led me to believe they were fine with that and would work with me. i was happy with this and went on to schedule a retreatment of my root canal. I had received a call from Maria, who let me know my pricing for the replacement tooth and said I could wait up to 6 months to be able to pay for it all - and told me the initial procedure to clean the infected tooth area would cost me nothing. I went into the office to have said procedure done when Maria asked me for the payment of 371.00. She said i could not make a partial payment, it needed to be paid in full. I was absolutely shocked, and being that i was told otherwise I became overwhelmed as I did not have that money and I started to cry. They had no intention of working with me in regard to this, told me there wasn't anything they can do, and told me they would be able to treat me after i came up with the full amount for the procedure. I was frustrated but I accepted it and told them i'd call them when I had it all. After scrounging, saving, NOT paying my cell phone bill, and reluctantly BORROWING the rest of the money from my brother i call to make an appointment, I was given one for Friday July 19th. I call Fmonday July 15th to confirm said appointment, got the time of 3pm only to be called back 20 minutes later by Maria telling me they are no longer on my insurance. I called my insurance company immediately after only to find out that THEY REMOVED THEMSELVES from my insurance due to "non cooperation of payment" and I'm like "excuse me, but 1. Not everyone in Tarzana CA is loaded and 2. I didn't NOT cooperate, I told them clearly I did not have the money at the time and would schedule an appointment when I did have it - which is what i attempted to do. I called back to speak with Maria who seemed to be amused at this situation, she implied that SHE didn't do it personally and said someone in the office must have called to have you switched. You need to find a new dentist, we do not want to see you. ALL OF THIS BECAUSE I WAS OVERWHELMED AND CRIED?! I spent over an HOUR that day attempting to find a NEW Endodontist that can do the work I need done, I finally found one and they asked for a copy of my records. I called Maria immediately thereafter and asked her to email them to me. Maria said she would take care of it Tuesday July 16. I open my email today and the 'record' they provided to me was a simple word document with a very small picture of my infected tooth. In my reply, I asked them to provide a more detailed record as well as a copy of every x-ray that was taken of my mouth. I went back and forth with her because I wanted my boyfriend to pick them up as their office hours conflict with my work schedule. Finally,, after I wrote a generic consent form, signed it, and sent it to her she told me he could come pick up my records. My boyfriend goes to pick them up, calls me and says 'I don't think this is the kind of record you need' meaning they gave him the SAME word document only PRINTED OUT. I was furious - I IMMEDIATELY emailed the office and let them know that I could not use what they have provided, and needed something more descriptive as well as copies of all of my x-rays, not just one terrible copy. I received a reply, that they can't give me anything different and told me not to contact the office any longer. This is the last straw for me. Not only have they been misleading, unprofessional, and DISCRIMINATORY - they have also caused me a GREAT DEAL of trouble. They are denying me rights to my records, as a patient, former or present, you have right to access ALL of your records with any office that you have been to. At this point, this office has messed with the wrong person. I think I will be pursuing a lawsuit against this office for all that they have and are currently putting me through. Over a simple co-payment. Over me crying. There are MANY dentist offices in Tarzana, CA - my last statement: This office is not worth your time, and they are undeserving of your hard earned money for the SHITTY service they provide in return, ESPECIALLY if you aren't 'well off" I STRONGLY suggest you go somewhere else. read more

I've been a patient here since last fall. The staff has generally been gracious and helpful and will work with you to lower your service fees. This morning I was seen by Dr. Abordo for my 3 month follow-up. He was patient, kind, and very efficient. He caught a small cavity forming on one of my lower right molars and suggested that I get it filled ASAP. This is the first time ever in my life that I had gotten a cavity, so while I was a bit disappointed, Dr. Abordo assured me that the filling would be quick and painless. One of the receptionists even applied the Yelp check-in special to my overall payment for the services. Today, the wait time was short and the gum pocket measurements, regular cleaning and polishing, and cavity filling all together took only 45-50 minutes. I was relieved that the topical and injected numbing agents made the process mostly painless and was also pleased that the filling was practically invisible. I wouldn't have been too happy with those silvery fillings. I am only giving 4 stars out of 5 because while the overall experiences at this office have been good so far, I wish they would offer their patients those little bags of toothpaste, floss and toothbrushes like all of my previous dental care providers have done. The doctors, nurses and receptionists at Tarzana Dental are kind, nonjudgmental, gentle and comforting. They've got me going back regularly without fear, trepidation, or an upset stomach. My teeth have been rescued by a group that truly cares about their clients and has not shamed me into caring for my teeth but gently guided me into proper daily care and taking care of my problems one by one with experience, top of the line equipment and good humor. Tarzana Dental is amazing! I've always hated the dentist growing up, but the staff here makes you comfortable and walks you through everything. Dr. Nikjoo is an amazing doctor and he is patient and very understanding. He is willing to take the time to explain everything to you and does not cut you off short. They are willing to work with you financially, as getting your teeth done can be a very emotional process. Sandra and Nancy are sweethearts and are too there for you. You know what really upsets me? Well actually two things upset me: wasting my time and being constantly upsold. This dental practice did both and I'm so irritated. First thing is the appointment process. I asked the receptionist to confirm whether they were our primary dentist. She insisted I make an appointment at that moment. She said the office manager would call me with that information and she never called. Then on the day of my husband's appointment they made him wait for a long time. They did his x-rays and then spent the rest of the appointment trying to upsell him. They never did a basic cleaning which he is supposed to get and that's covered by our insurance but they offered him a $3,000 treatment as a "preventive treatment" that is not covered by our insurance. It was clear to him that they were only concerned about the money and not his teeth so he does not ever plan on returning. They are like many of the fancy dentists that don't want to care for your teeth, they just want to make as much money off of you as possible. I was supposed to go to the dentist but had to cancel. After his experience, I will be returning to my old dentist who really treats his clients and cares about more than just money. Also what dental practice is closed on Fridays?! No thanks read more
