UPDATE: AI enshittification is ruining things I loved about this place. Its not just this place. Ever since the AI craze, basic technologies are becoming worse. Appointment reminders dont work properly and I dont blame this on the Staff. Maybe they use a Microsoft computer or an Oracle system, maybe they have an AI app, who knows? The front office can prove with screenshots that they sent messages and reminders. While it shows on their end the message was recieved, I get absolutely nothing. I think this is a malicious intention by Tech Companies. They are handicapping services, generating a lot of complaints and then Business Owners are going to be convinced by the Tech Companies it was the 'human element' that was the problem. Dont worry, the Tech Bros have the solution: Fire the Front Office Workers and replace them with an AI system. Honestly, the front office should use Carrier Pigeons. This place is awesome! I have been here twice and have had fantastic experiences so far. Dr. Amy is my dentist and I have had help with assistants, Tiffany and Ryan (I hope that was his name) and Liz at the front desk. Everyone is super friendly and professional and that makes me very relaxed. No anxiety about the dentist but excitement for me. These people are punctual and caring. Avoided the dentist for fear of bad news or just being embarrassed. My first experience with this team was so nurturing and compassionate. What a shame that I didn't know about these guys sooner. From a clinical standpoint, everything feels up to date and aligned with quality standards. Before my appointment, the Opencare team was very diligent about sending reminders and follow-up texts, which I appreciated. It helped with scheduling and preparation. During my visit, I was assisted by Juan, the dental assistant, who was kind, attentive, and thoughtful in his care. Dr. Gok was equally professional and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the deep cleaning. Clinically, the experience was positive and left a strong impression. Before leaving, I requested Juan and Dr. Gok for my next cleaning and was flexible with scheduling pending insurance approval for future treatment. The challenge began after I left the office. When I uploaded my receipt to Opencare for the gift card referral, I experienced ongoing pushback from their support team for over a week. I understand that support teams handle a high volume of cases, but the communication lacked clarity around how to resolve the issue. It appears there may have been a clerical error at the front desk regarding documentation tied to my appointment, which may affected my eligibility for the promotion. What was most frustrating was the lack of coordination. At one point, I was informed my case had been transferred to another agent and that my appointment appeared canceled -- as though I had not attended my deep cleaning. This was concerning and required additional effort on my part to correct. For something that should have been straightforward, the process felt unnecessarily complicated. Additionally, my interaction at the front desk felt impersonal. I did not receive much guidance about next steps with Opencare, and basic information -- such as the Opencare support email -- was not readily available. A brief explanation at checkout about how to properly submit documentation for the gift card would likely prevent similar issues for future patients. To be clear, my clinical experience with Juan and Dr. Gok was excellent. The concern lies with administrative follow-through and communication between Smile Craft and Opencare. As a patient, I value transparency and coordination, especially when promotions are involved. If I could offer feedback, it would be: * Ensure front desk staff clearly communicate post-visit steps for third-party promotions * Double-check documentation before patients leave * Strengthen coordination with Opencare to prevent eligibility disputes Front desk alignment is critical because it sets the tone for the entire patient journey. While the clinical team delivered a 5-star experience, the administrative follow-through did not match that standard. The receptionist interaction felt cold and impersonal -- minimal eye contact, no warm greeting or closing, and little guidance on next steps regarding the promotion. It felt transactional rather than relationship-based. When a practice invests in high-quality care and environment, the front desk experience should reflect that same level of professionalism and warmth. What I had done: teeth cleanings, cavities, crowns and veneers to fix my teeth from a face injury I was initially drawn in by the beautifully designed, modern office and technology. I stayed for Dr. Janice Chou and her team. Dr. Chou is extremely detailed and has "soft hands", meaning you won't be poked and prodded from rough work. I would always walk into the room extremely nervous and anxious, yet feel relief from Dr. Chou's (and team!) presence and skills. Why did I choose Smilecraft for my veneers? They use an intraoral 3d scanner to create an exact scan of your existing teeth. Then using software, your dentist designs your smile and creates a 3d model you can physically hold. It is a lengthy process with many, many steps - but the end result is worth it. My crowns/veneers look exactly like my original teeth! read more

COVID19 Experience Review: I had booked my appointment prior to COVID-19, and not gonna lie I was a bit nervous going but Dr. Nguyen and her team really go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. As my appointment approached, I received both emails and texts, letting me know that I had to fill out forms and sign a COVID-19 waiver. The process of getting the paperwork done was done in minutes and super simple. On arrival, you'll wait outside of the office until one of the staff members call you in and take your temperature at the door. Masks are required until you are in your dental room, where all the dentists are wearing face mask and face shields. From there, it's your pretty standard dental experience. Appreciate the periodic check-ins during the cleaning, making sure I'm good. I actually don't mind the dentist, so sitting there and coming out so fresh and so clean is something I look forward too. The amount of sanitation and cleanliness of the this office is noticeable here. Luckily I didn't have any x-rays and the whole process from arriving to leaving took a little under an hour. The idea of going to the dentist in the middle of a pandemic was definitely nerve racking, because of the obvious of the dentist working so closely. The safety precautions taken in this office eased my anxiety and I left without a second thought about visiting the dentist. I would not hesitate to return in 6 months! read more

OFFICE: super clean, with brand spanking new everything inside - white modern imported European cabinets and the even 3D printers, and super low exposure x-ray equipment. Best dentist ever!! I haver never been excited to see the dentist since I was little but for the first time ever, I'm actually looking forward to see Dr.Amy Nguyen. The office is super clean with brand new everything inside. I love the white theme and newest technology that they have. The waiting room has snacks, coffee, water, and even charging stations. A plus to it is the free wifi and lots of parking space in front. Check in process is fast, efficient, and I never had to wait more than 10 min to go in. Staffs are so nice and welcoming. Ben is super helpful and alway tries to explain all my insurance info and helps me schedule my appointment with my hectic schedule. I came in for a routine cleaning and Dr. Ding was the absolute man! He did such an incredibly thorough job and was very kind. More than that, he was extremely knowledgable, answered all of my questions thoughtfully, and gave recommendations on how to improve my oral health. The location itself is gorgeous, sparkly clean, and looks brand new. They are definitely complying with COVID precautions, and I felt safe and well taken care of while there. I was looking for a new Dentist and SmileCraft had THE best Yelp reviews. So I took my chance, and had my first appointment today... and soo many things to really love about this place! 1. Easy booking process. I called for the first time to schedule an appointment and they were able to answer my insurance questions thoroughly and find me their soonest available appointment. I even called back a week later to see if there was something sooner, and they texted me back with an earlier appointment. 2. Soo much parking.. a major plus! No need to pay for a meter or worry you won't have any parking.. or a parking ticket because you forgot to feed the meter. 3. Very modern. VERY CLEAN.. major plus!! Every appliance and tool used was super high tech, nothing like my old dentists would use. 4. All associates were very friendly... (and speak English) Dr. Amy and her assistant were able to answer ALL my questions, tell me exactly what it is they were doing step by step, things they are keeping a close eye for my next appointment, etc. As a first time patient, I felt like they were being genuine which I very much appreciated. I didn't feel like they were trying to upsell me or talk me into procedures I didn't need. Overall, it was my first dentist appointment in a year and venturing off to a new Doctor is always a hard time- because you really are taking a chance and don't really know if it will be worth it! I don't make yelp reviews but felt I needed to because my time at Smile Craft at the Redwood City location was a great experience. I had tried other dentists in the area and they were always old and grundgy and could never verify my insurance. Smile Craft was the complete opposite. The facility was bright clean and spacious. I felt like I was in a very high end dentist office. Somi quickly brought me back for X-rays and vitals, and within a few minutes Dr. Chou was there to go over my X-rays, check for cavities and clean my teeth! Throughout the process Dr. Chou checked in with me to make sure I was okay and explained things to me along the way. Love this place! Dr. J. Janice Chou is a fantastic dentist who did an amazing job replacing two old metal fillings of mine with new transparent (looks like teeth) fillings previously. Today I had my teeth cleaned by Jose', who has the most efficient and focused cleaning technique I've ever experienced in my 51 years of life. He was in, on target, and right out again. Fastest teeth cleaning ever! They're all friendly and sociable people. The office is squeaky clean, and they followed very strict COVID protocols which made me feel safe. My husband and myself have been going to smile craft for almost 7 years. Staff is very friendly, accommodating and easy to talk to (Jessica, Marleen and Pamela) . After attending a Yelp Elite event at the Redwood City Smile Craft Dental, I was super impressed. Everyone was very friendly, the clinic was immaculately clean and the equipment is state of the art. It was then that I decided to return for a cleaning. I was really nervous, as I am for any dentist appointment, even a cleaning. BUT, everyone made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Chou explained everything she was doing and it was determined that I needed a filling and to replacement crowns. Dr. Chou was upfront and honest about how much time I could take to schedule/budget for this dental work. I opted to return the following week for the filling and I'm so glad I did. The filling was loose and Dr.Chou did a superb job of replacing it. I could tell that the work is quality because she took extra time to make sure flossing wasn't an issue, the tooth was even and that I was comfortable the whole entire time! I had to check twice where I was when I came in because this office was something else. From the rooms to the equipment to the unique artistic photos and especially the assistants and doctors I couldn't have had a better dental experience. It really makes you feel at ease from start to finish. The doctors and staff were the most impressive. They were professional, gentle, THOROUGH, HONEST, INFORMATIVE, and patient. That's everything you want from a medical professional. They made sure to go through everything, and let me know how I can protect my teeth/gum from further problems. The assistant was very patient and hardworking, the lead dentist went through everything making a lot of detailed notes AND did the cleaning, and the ortho there even made very honest suggestions as to protect my interests, and even made good medical suggestions about getting seeking further tests that my doctor agreed with. This was all, by the way, in my best interest and not for them to seek more money, because the end result was to seek a surgeon outside their practice. Just go here and you'll see what I mean. I can't rave more about my impressive experience. And i HATE writing reviews. I only usually do it out of anger. But these guys deserved a great five star yelp story. read more

I originally went to MTV office and when I moved to Foster City, started going to Redwood City office. Before I started going to Smile Craft Dental, I didn't understand the importance of quality of service and care from dentists. Smile Craft Dental office is PERFECT in every way possible. The office staffs are incredibly helpful and kind, clinic is VERY clean with best and the latest technologies, appointments are very easy to make, and regular check ups and cleanings feel very personal and pleasant. I love the office staffs and Dr. Noorian / Dr. Nguyen so much! I even convinced my boyfriend to switch his dentist and start ortho treatment with smile craft dental. Seriously can't recommend enough. I never really write reviews, but I had such a great experience at Smile Craft! Dr. Nguyen has a kind bedside manner, and was very consultative during the whole exam. Throughout my exam she made sure to explain what she was doing, why, and what types of sensations I should be experiencing--all of which made me feel at ease. Also, she was not pushy with her recommendations for follow-up procedures, instead thoroughly explaining the pros/cons of her reasoning and what the alternate treatments were (if any). The office itself is brand new and so beautiful, with all of the newest technology. You can tell the staff really puts effort into patient care, and I've never been to a medical office of any kind where the whole patient experience was as thoughtfully considered like Smile Craft. When I first arrived, I noticed that the facility is new and super clean with state of the art technology. Overall the location in Redwood City, CA is very good with updated dental equipment and friendly staff. However, there have been some miscommunication issues with Gloria at the front desk affecting claim charges. Just be sure and double check all the details prior to the appointment so there are no surprises. The issue was not about understanding the dental insurance, but the confusion created when there was no clarification of the different charges between requesting the dentist vs. the hygienist. Especially when told that the dentist would be doing all cleanings in the future. read more
