We moved away for a few years and had to go to a different dentist in Savannah, and they messed up my husband's teeth. When we came back to Northside Dental we felt we were in good hands again. I recommend them to anyone who needs a dentist they can depend on. We continue to come here even when we move to different cities around Atlanta. They are truly a great team.

I have been a patient for 6 months now. During these 6 months, I had 2 visits for tooth pain (one…read moreof my back tooth had a hole in it and it almost got to the nerve so it hurt soooooo bad), and a root canal (which solved the tooth pain). Michelle at the front desk was very nice, and she always called me to confirm appointments, or when an earlier appointment was available. I had a very great root canal experience here (this was my first root canal). Dr John Birch performed the root canal. It took about 2 hours in total, and I had a temporary crown put in. I will come back in 1 week for the permanent crown. Dr Birch was great and I highly recommend him to everybody. I heard horrible stories about root canal procedures all the time, including pain afterwards and infection etc. Now it is 10 days after my root canal and I did not have any pain or infection (my jaw felt sore the first day after the root canal). Dr Birch constantly confirmed if I was feeling fine during the procedures, and I did not have to keep my mouth open all the time. He let me close my mouth every once a while so my jaw would not kill me after the numbness wore out. One thing I would like to mention is that Dr Birch only works here on Tuesdays and he is the only dentist that works on root canal. So if you come for a root canal, be prepared for the wait as his schedule might be busy. They do not have private rooms, meaning that everybody can see you once they get in the facility (not including the people in the waiting room). This doesn't bother me much, but I would definitely prefer a private room. Hence only 4 stars. It is a small practice with more of a family feeling here. I recommend Northside Dental to everybody.

When I asked about a sore area in my mouth the dentist told me my teeth had perhaps shifted over time and I may want to consider braces (?!). I had braces when I was a teenager and now he was suggesting them again because of one sore spot in my mouth? After the appt they billed my old insurance, so I had to call them about that, and then they billed me for a no-show from three months prior, although I had left them a voice mail saying I needed to cancel. I called them to explain this but kept getting bills for the no-show months later. Kept calling them and emailing them about it, and the no-show bill kept coming. It took months to resolve. Extremely frustrating.

I was greeted immediately by Michelle, who I had been speaking with on the phone to set up the appointment. Nice to place a face with a name! She was professional, courteous, and of course, let me know it would only be a couple minutes before I was up. Sure enough, within 4 minutes Beate came out and introduced herself as my hygienist for the day. Pleasant, professional, and super thorough- my cleaning went about as flawlessly as could be expected. She spoke about the things she was doing so that I didn't wonder what was happening. Sometimes in the past, I have been delayed or waited a long time to see the Dr. when the cleaning was wrapping up. Dr. Bowns was in to see me within 2 minutes of finishing with Beate. He is pleasant, easy to talk with, and I found it refreshing that I was in and out of the office in less than one hour. They will bill my insurance company, and if there is anything I have extra I'll get a call. I cannot say this enough- when you have a new service provider and it works out this well, it's a great feeling! All of a sudden every time I went to the dentist I had cavities, need crowns etc. My most recent trip they told me I had a cavity back on my molar that needs to be filled. I said to Dr Patel, that I just had that filled by Dr Kim on my prior visit. She insisted that it was different, but I remember it because I endured the pain to get it filled. Upon my return trip for the filling, Dr Patel stated it was 2 cavities needed to be filled?!! I was like all of a sudden it is 2 cavities when my estimate stated only 1. Dr Patel started drilling away and about 30 mins in she stopped drilling and said to me, I am doing my best but the cavity is in between my back molar and the adjacent tooth. She also stated it could possible need a root canal if the filling doesn't work. I said I came to fill 1 cavity that turned into 2 cavities and now you are saying possible a root canal ?? Then I rolled my tongue across the area and was SHOCKED to feel my molar bored out so much that was there any tooth left?? I asked her why she bored out, what felt like my whole tooth, so much of my tooth and she stated because of the cavity touching 2 teeth. Right then I knew this was the exact area where Dr. Kim tried to fill. I told her that Dr Kim must have done it wrong, because she is telling me the cavity was underneath the filling. Common sense tells you the cavity wasn't done right the first time. So she continued drilling and about 1 1/2 hours later I left with swollen lip,do to the assistant stretching my mouth so far, and a prognosis of a possible root canal if this filling doesn't work. A couple of months later I went to a different dentist, for my 2nd cleaning for the year,and he tells me that my tooth needs a root canal. Now facing a $3000.00 root canal when this new dentist looked at the tooth she told me she could not do a root canal because my tooth was FRACTURED and needed to be pulled!!! She stated the previous dentist took out so much of the tooth that it fractured and could not be saved. So they pulled my right molar. Now this is my steak chewing tooth and now I need a $5000.00 implant!!!!! If you value your teeth do NOT go to Hamilton Mill Dental Associates because they will nickel and dime you to death and possible fracture your teeth!!! I had a crown come out from them and they couldn't see me for three days to fix it and then told me you should never go this long to get a replacement....I said that y'all would not work me in. Again Crowns should NOT come off unless they were done incorrectly the first time!! Again another$1500.00!! BEWARE of this office!!!! Stay away!!! Or you will be returning every time you have a cleaning!!!!! Please take my advice!!!! Dr. Patel is too inexperienced to be drilling anything in your mouth and the associates push down so hard with suction that your inside of your mouth will get cut, bruised or torn. Show up to my dental cleaning 10 minutes late and told they cannot see me today. Do you know how many times I have had to wait for them due to their morning staff meetings running over, the dentist dealing with another patient. I have been to that dentist office over 20 times in the past couple of years and have not been late. But one time I'm late and can't see me. No grace given to me at all. Also note it was pouring raining and I got stuck behind a bunch of traffic which I told them. Last year at my dental cleaning the hygenist was so slow and the doctor got behind that I was there for a cleaning for over 2 hours. I was having to cancel work meetings. Did they care, no. But I show up 10 minutes late and am told they have to reschedule me after I drove in the pouring rain and blocked my work schedule. Take into account your patient. I get it if someone is a habitually late person, but I am not. I am the one sitting in the waiting room. Take into account weather situations and know when you want to prioritize your patients safety over being exactly on time. I get they have a schedule to keep but seriously the time could have been made up. And to note there was nothing in the reminders which I got a ton of via phone call, via text and via email that said if you are X minutes late you will be rescheduled. Again truly disappointed that after all the times I have been there, all the thousands of dollars spent that one time they have no regard for my situation and try to accomodate me. 0 stars for this.

They were closer to our house and very helpful when I called to inquire about their services. They are a general dentistry, so they take care of children and adults. I do not go here, but that's only because I already had another dentist previous to my children coming here. The staff here is very helpful and always talk to me if there is a concern with my boys teeth prior to doing any major work. They're great at handling all my financial stuff with my insurance, so we get the best prices possible. (Dental work is just expensive, thankful we get some discount)
