My Smile Direct Club journey has been a most interesting experience. Since we're in unprecedented times, I opted to do the mail-in process beginning in October. After completing the mold and not receiving a follow-up, I emailed them. Responses would be delayed or ignored, and never were they answered by the same representative. I then used Facebook Messenger. Despite being responsive, I had to redo the aligner molds in November. Tired of the delay and the run-around, I finally made an in-person appointment. Visiting the Walnut Creek location (on December 13th) was the greatest decision made. Our host was very welcoming and touched base with my situation, prompting me to ask questions--to which he honestly answered. I was then helped by Nickole, who is the sweetest and most helpful SmileGuide! Nickole is very positive and caring, taking her time to understand my personal Smile journey and offering her honesty and boundless support. She is gentle, even warning that there may be a slight tug (to which there was no pain!). She restored my faith in Smile Direct Club, and honestly makes me wish she could be my regular aide/hygienist! Now I await my kit--which will take 4-5 weeks to be processed and shipped. If you have a choice, please do create an in-person appointment. Not only is everyone so kind and helpful, they go above and beyond in ensuring the safety of all who enter and the cleanliness of the space. Looking forward to getting a brand new smile! read more

Started years ago, finished aligners. Spaces too large in between, had a redo and used retainers after. Then I had two root canals and needed retainers redone. I did an impression and they supposedly sent new retainers. No, wrong retainers! I had to take pictures to show them they were wrong. They said they sent new ones with correct impression. They never got delivered. They argued with me instead of resending. They refused to send to my home address! I ordered retainers elsewhere. Then I got an email time for retainers from SDC so I ordered, and again they sent the retainers from first impressions, not the recent ones. I am done! Throwing good money after bad! They just disregarded my complaints about bent aligners I couldn't use or if I used them, dealt with cut and bleeding gums. I am more than severely disappointed with smile Direct club. I requested new aligners due to losing mine while moving and was told since I needed to start a new smile plan which is not covered in the 2k I already spent on my first, which supposedly had a lifetime guarantee. Turns out they are liars and there is no lifetime guarantee. I'm shocked and sickened by the dishonesty and the mere fact I feel bullied into starting all over. All of this because I wanted my already printed aligners replaced!?! What kind of company does this? I always held this company in high regards, now i wouldn't recommend them to anyone. This review is for Dr. Nickole Dr. Nickole doesn't care about customers and lies to you in a desperate attempt to steal your money. At first I was interested in purchasing, but after so many unauthorized charges, I won't be purchasing out of principle. Dr. Nickole misled me into signing a document at the end of my appointment. I told her I wasn't comfortable signing because I hadn't seen the 3D image of my "new smile" yet, plus I wasn't sure I would even purchase because of the false advertising: "average plan lasts 4-6 months for $89/month" when in actuality the flat rate for any plan is $1950 total. What a scam. Dr. Nickole pushed me to sign anyway, "ensuring" ahem lying that my card wouldn't be charged until another doctor talks to me about my "new smile" in a few days, and then I could authorize the charge after seeing my new smile. Lies on top of lies. They tried charging my card TWICE before I got to see what my new smile would look like. Why would I pay in-full before seeing the end result? I complained four times telling them to stop making unauthorized charges to my card, but they kept trying to charge my card TWICE EVERYDAY even after my many complaints and requests. read more

I love smile direct club! I've been using them for about 2 years now. I had metal braces as a teenager and over time my teeth shifted and I had some crowding on my top teeth. I love the treatment plan they put together for me and within 4 months my teeth were back to the same alignment as I had as a teenager with much less discomfort of inconvenience of metal braces.The staff in the office is professional, efficient, and friendly. It's easy to make a follow up appointment and if I didn't like they way they made a certain tray or retainer they will remake them to your liking. I was a bit hesitant that the treatment would work but I can emphatically say, yes it does! Another bonus they can remake your retainers for life for $98 to ensure your results last! read more

I called 3 days ago and was told it had to be cancelled and they started manufacturing them the last time I called. so, 3 days ago and it will take another 3-4 weeks. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This company is committing medical malpractice providing this type of treatment to consumers without ensuring adequate treatment monitoring. I joined SDC in Feb 2022 hoping to change a very minor alignment issue with my teeth. I had to have about 3 aligner touch-ups, had to drive to their center to get a 3D scan over 3 times and send in the mold kit once throughout this entire process. Aligners were poorly fitted and caused gum problems. One year later, because of SDC, my teeth have shifted so much that my bite is completely off now. When I eat, I very uncomfortably bite with my front teeth now instead of my molars. My dentist told me today that there is too much pressure being put on my front teeth by my bite that it is dangerous for the health of my teeth. Calling their customer service is useless. They keep saying, "We'll have your case reviewed by an account manager and will get back to you in 3-4 business days." Complete lies. No response and I am needing to continue calling them about this issue. At this point, I am going to file a complaint with the FTC, email the FDA, Attorney General's Consumer Protection Office, and share my story all over social media until I get a full refund. If anyone experiences problems like me, please reach out to all these agencies to complain. Because of their medical neglect, I will need to see an actual orthodontist to correct the massive problems they have created to my teeth. read more

If there was a way for me to rate SDC negative stars into infinity I would. I hope this review will serve as a warning for anybody contemplating using Smile Direct Club anywhere in the United States. Please, please, please do not use this scam company. I now know that there have been multiple lawsuits against them and it's a crime that they are even still in business. Please, stay local and use a reputable dentist. Unfortunately, I signed up with them in October, 2019. I was told that my treatment would take 9 - 10 months. What a joke! Here I am 3.5 years later, my teeth not fixed, and they basically wrote me off without finishing my treatment. This latest episode has gone on for four months; they were supposed to send me more aligners to finish my treatment but instead they have somehow expunged me from their system. I have contacted their joke customer service umpteen times and they keep giving me the runaround. Instead of aligners, they sent me retainers, which I did not order, and in no way fit. Every time I contact customer service they say either that my order was cancelled or that it's in progress. But nothing ever happens! This is just the latest in a series of countless delays and mistakes by this company over the years. Smile Direct Club offshores ALL of their customer service, to no doubt very poorly paid workers, and there is no accountability when they flat out lie to you or fail to follow through. If you want to be jerked around and gaslighted while they take your money and time, by all means, use Smile Direct Club. I, on the other hand, am attempting to get a full refund so I can see a local, reputable dentist to continue my treatment. I am not even sure that the people they use to make these aligners are licensed dentists, which is dangerous, because every time your teeth are shifted you lose bone. It's scary that a company like this doesn't seem to be regulated. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a corporation, bar none. If I can save even one person the pain and suffering of using this scammy operation then my time writing this review will have been well-spent. My initial appointment went well, but after that the experience turned for the worst! I did a consolation end of July and have yet to receive aligners, it's damn near October!The initial shipment never came, when they reordered the aligners they sent a box but it was empty. I finally decided to cancel the whole thing, I rather pay extra and go through Invisalign. Oh and I referred my husband, the trays for his third week were not even the mold of his teeth! 1 star is being generous in my opinion. Ridiculous!! I had an appointment at 6:30pm I was outside the doors at 6:25.... I was told to call a number so a security guard could assist me and absolutely NO ONE was there. The double doors were locked so I couldn't get into the lobby. The customer rep on the phone tried calling their office and they didn't answer 4 times. Don't do it. I was on the 6 month program and they did keep reassessing and sending me new aligners for almost two years. My crowding issue was not severe but Smile Direct did not deliver the smile I was shown when I signed up. Beware they will scam you! I went to touch up my upper teeth and re-straighten my lower teeth. I had braces years ago there's plenty of room they just need to be pushed back. I was told no problem you have a great mouth, there are people way worse than you, you shouldn't even have to wear them that long. I waited, lots of marketing text messages in between, I got my kit I opened it up and I only got liners for the top teeth. The material is so thin it even says in the literature if they break don't worry just go onto the next one!? I called and asked where my bottom ones were, and they said they didn't think I was a good candidate for the bottom because of the amount of gum there that had receded. I've been to orthodontist they said no problem. I go to my dentist twice a year, he says I have beautiful teeth. 7 to 10 days before someone will reach out to me as in a "case worker" about returning. I'm going to get a lawyer against them if they don't give me my $1700 back. Don't waste your time- at no point did they reach out to tell me I would not be given lower aligners, never given a chance to cancel or back out of it! SUCH A SCAM. Completely disappointed with their service. Theres absolutely no orthodontist involved in the process of it at all. A tech takes a 3D scan of your smile and then they ship you the aligners. There are no following check ups to see your progress, and theyll charge an extra $100 for retainers after the aligners. They state that it's got a life guarantee but if for any reason the aligners dont work you will not be refunded and the process of canceling the order took me 3 months because the "account managers" simply don't respond, and they are only reachable through email. The facility is clean and stylish, the amount of precautions taken to keep up with preventing Covid standards was AMAZING; from start to finish, everyone was excellent. I got a text reminder hours in advance of my appointment WITH A PICTURE OF EXACTLY WHERE I NEEDED TO STAND, perfectly clear directions, the woman who welcomed me in was kind and courteous. Nickole was absolutely delightful. She made me feel so at ease while doing my scan. JP did a follow up to make sure my scan was 100% ready to go and stayed really engaged in conversation with me the whole time.
