I've been coming to this practice for over 5 years (as well as my whole family) and every interaction is stellar, from the minute you walk in with the front desk - they are always smiling and cheerful, the x-ray tech and hygienists are also fantastic and truly treats you like family. Everyone is very professional and the practice is absolutely spotless. Even though we've moved about 30 minutes away from this practice, we still make the drive to come here. Dr. Kumar is also wonderful, he truly cares about his patients and really spends time with you (even for a general cleaning). Definitely the best dentist we've had! Sheri was the angel I needed early Monday morning. She answered, and she was still at home because the office wasn't open yet. But she took my call and had me laughing in no time, which really helped because I was in so much pain. A little backstory, my braces were removed in 2021. A year later, my permanent retainer was moving my teeth. My orthodontist took full blame and put braces on the bottom of my teeth to correct them. The process was finished in April. Well, the left side of my head and face became very painful. The orthodontist said the retainer mold was wrong and replaced that... Fast forward, I moved to Texas, and now I'm at the doctor's because my face is swollen, and on to the Berkeley Eye Center. I'll spare you the rest. So now, I have the kindest woman named Sherri on the phone, who I consider a friend now. She told me to come on in, she'll send the paperwork through email, and she'll see me at two. She didn't stop there; once I got there and finished the exam, I thought I had to come back for them to put the proper braces on. Nope, Sherri said we can do the braces today, and they did! Everyone here is SO nice and professional! My mom went in today for a cleaning and general checkup and was very happy with Dr. Kumar and his staff. They clearly explained the care plan and got our approval on the estimate for each step. The cleaning and exam were thorough and painless. They determined that my mom needed a root canal redone and sent us out with a referral, a general estimate and an appointment for an endodontist . Bottom line, I am not a fan of the dentist office. With a painful, aggrivated tooth over the holidays, after a long hiatus from my last dental visit, it was time to search for another one. After a through search, I came across Smile Unique and I must admit, I wasn't disapponted! From the start, the staff at Smile Unique truly made me feel at home! Initially, I tried to get in on a Sunday and was contacted immediately by Smile Unique's office manager, Ms. Sheri. I followed up the next day making an appointment with Ms. Melaine (my apologies if incorrect!), who was very helpful and friendly. Upon arrival to the office, I was greeted warmly greeted by the beautiful smile of Ms. Sheri, quickly easing some of the anxiety I held upon my visit. My consultation with with Dr. Arunkumar was well-recieved and I genuinely appreciated his expertise and recommendations. To be honestly, I felt a little embarrased considering what I was giving him to work with after 4 years, but he treated me with the uptmost respect. He kindly explained what the issue was and what his recommendations for treatment that was available to me. Patiently, he answered every question I had concerning my treatment. Far from what I experienced from other dentist office in the pass, Dr. Arunkumar never tried to push additional services on me, keeping focus on the issue at hand. This office used started off on the right foot, caring, professional, and even empathetic, but then when it came time to get down to it, they screwed me over. I went in for new upper and lower dentures, while I received my upper dentures, I did not receive the lower ones... the kicker...? My insurance paid for them. If I could put a thousand stars I would. I was in unbearable pain since Saturday & after a recommendation from a good friend of mine yesterday I reached out to the office for help. I reached out at 3:35(I know they aren't business hours, but I wasn't sleeping due to how much pain I was in) sherri reaches out to me on her way to work, that automatically made me feel so great about visiting them. Upon arrival you can feel the great vibes, it was so hard for me to continue to be upset & stressed due to the pain I was in. Sherri was at the front desk as soon as I arrived & knew it was me. I was seen in less then 15 mins & it only took that long because I was filling out new patient paperwork. They treated me with so much respect and love. I can feel the genuinely cared about me and my pain, not once did I feel uncomfortable to be honest or even physically uncomfortable. They did their best to get me an appointment for a root canal ASAP. When I mean these people are heaven sent, they are heaven sent. I'm so mad at myself for not coming them sooner, I officially found my home dentist. It's a 45 mins drive from my house & I do not care it is worth the drive, if you haven't visited this office, you need to. Dental phobia is an understatement. Life, job promotions, two kids and a always busy schedule resulted in a neglected smile. By the time I realized I needed to take care of my dental health, I was in full blown panic and arrived to my appointment at Smile Unique just like that, full blown panic. The entire staff are the most kindhearted, gentle people I have ever encountered. I was greeted and sat for less that 5 minutes in an adorable waiting room, photo booth and all! Instants tears started when the 2 assistants opened the door. They did everything possible to calm my over the top anxiety, explaining literally every movement they made, even clipping the bib on! Then appeared an angel, Sheri, the dental hygienist. She turned on Netflix, pulled up a chair and stayed with me my entire appointment. I'm sure she had a million other things to do but she stayed by my side reassuring and cheering me on. They said company culture comes from the top down and Smile Unique is no different. Dr. Arunkumar is so relaxing and charming. My dental anxiety stemmed from fear of judgement and embarrassment. I'm not usually a fan of medical places found in strip centers, but Sheri, the dental hygienist, makes you feel like your at home when you walk in. Tina (I'm guess she's called a technician) was very professional and good at her work, and Sheri definitely knows what she's doing. The dentist Dr. Kumar took a look at my x-rays (I was concerned I had a cavity) and had a lot of good knowledge, explaining that my soreness is from inflammation caused by too much flossing (you don't hear dentists say THAT often) and that my teeth and gums were very healthy. Also, even though I came in with a special coupon for exam, x-ray, and cleaning, they never tried to upsell me or anything of that sort. I will start with the urgent call made for my excruciating pain. They booked me right away same day! They emailed my new patient paperwork to fill out at home as to not have me wait in the office (in pain). When I arrived I was met by a very nice receptionist. It only took a couple of mins. before the the hygienist named Sherry took me back to do Ex rays. She was very careful nice to not add to my pain . I was then seated to see the dentist who examined my tooth and took care of the pain immediately. I was then referred by him to see a specialist. I was out having lunch when my crown split in half today being a Sunday I thought there was no way I would be able to get it taken care off and I really didn't want to go to work with half of a front tooth found the location through yelp made a call to see if they took my dental insurance with me military out providers are picky on who we are able to use.
