I'm so glad we came here. The staff was incredibly kind, patient, and caring with my daughter, making her feel comfortable from the moment we walked in. They took the time to thoroughly examine her, explain everything clearly, and answered all of our questions without making us feel rushed. The dental care itself has been okay, but my experience with the front desk was incredibly disappointing. The way I was treated by the reception staff made both my daughter and me feel uncomfortable from the moment we walked in. Instead of being met with understanding after proactively communicating that we were running a few minutes late, I was met with arguments, an adversarial tone, and a complete lack of empathy. As a parent, it's heartbreaking to have your child watch you be spoken to that way before even making it back to the exam room. I understand the need for office policies, but professionalism, kindness, and customer service should come first, especially in a pediatric office. I left feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and disappointed. I sincerely hope the front desk receives additional customer service training so other families don't have a similar experience. read more

This dental office is very child / family friendly . If you don't speak English but Spanish that is ok because the staff speak speak Spanish. This is a very comfortable setting for children and staff and doctor is constantly communicating to whole family. Seating space in dental rooms are a bit snug but patients are happy with cool glasses and cartoons. This is great for children in autism spectrum and staff are very considerate of their needs too. After visits, children get tokens to pick prizes out of a gum ball like machine. We have been bringing our son here since this school year. We are happy with this dentist for our son. This year has been a good year finding dentist for our family. This dental clinic caters to young toddlers all the way to teenagers. If you have children, this is a nice place to take them. We have been taking my 8-year-old daughter here for years. The staff are pleasant and the dentist's are all good. It's very easy to make an appointment online. There is almost always availability and they are prompt. My biggest complaint is that the dental chairs are all in a row, with no partition in between. This makes it a bit loud and chaotic. This is different right now because of covid, but usually everyone is right next to each other. Also, you don't have the same dentist each time. They just rotate. For basic dental care, this is more than adequate, but if we needed something more elaborate, we would probably consider going to a specific dentist of our choice with more up to date equipment. read more

My family and I had a horrible experience here due to a misunderstanding of medical history. However, I want to commend the staff here for being so kind, empathetic, and caring. Once we sorted out the misunderstanding it was evident to me that the staff there genuinely care for their patients. I want to especially commend Crystal and Kehlani for being such wonderful people. I was incredibly disappointed by our experience here. My son is 2.5 and this was his first dentist appointment and I booked him for a cleaning and exam. All they did was brush his teeth with a regular toothbrush then the doctor came and looked at his teeth for maybe 10 seconds with a mirror. That was it. We don't have insurance so $200 for a tooth brushing we do at home anyways is absurd. The staff were super aloof too and there was no talking to my son or anything to make him relax. They just dived right into his mouth with the toothbrush which freaked him out a bit. I had originally made an appt for him because he had a bump on his gums. I mentioned it to both the assistant and dentist and both blew me off and barely even looked at it. read more

This place is super shady. I would not trust these people with my child. First off, they have you sign a consent without you reading anything. They have you sign it electronically at their front desk. They want you to sign consent to you sedate your kid and don't let you read anything. Second of all, they will not allow parents to go back with their child. I put up a fight the two times that I went and the girl today said this is my last time I will be allowed to go back there with my child. I told the lady I have never heard of dentist office that doesn't allow you to go back there with your child. She said, "You signed a consent form" and I told her the one that I didn't get to read. My child had two very minor cavities that they supposedly had to put a gas mask on her to sedate her for. I asked my child and they said nothing flowed in their nose so I think it's just a way for them to falsely bill the insurance for. They never drilled anything. They said they just scraped off the cavity with a common dental pick. They put this sealant in and never did a blue light on it. Not sure what the point of acting like they needed to put a gas mask on my child for. Like I said it's just away to bill the insurance company. They are super sneaky at Smile 4 kids. Why would you not allow a parent to go with their minor. The dental assistant couldn't explain this to me and all she said is it's plastered on the sign at the front desk and it's in there release of consent form that they had me sign electronically. I said there was nothing for me to read as you guys had me sign electronically on the pin pad. On a sidenote, two times now they have messed up my appointment when I have scheduled it a couple months ahead of time. First time, I came to my appointment and they said they have no record that I made appointment even though I got a reminder call from them. When we came in for a cleaning the girl didn't even clean all of my child's teeth. I pointed out the two minor cavities to the dentist and she said they didn't have time to do them so I had to make another appointment. With the cleaning to redo the minor cavities today took a total of five minutes together. They just wanted me to come back a different time to charge more. It's a waste of time. read more

I have been going to this dentist office for years since I was a kid. Been taking my kids here for many years. They have all new staff in there. (Who I find to be very petty) Cara the new dentist decided to cancel my appointment over us arriving 10 minutes late on the dot. Usually places give u a 15 minute window. But they didn't care that my son needed his teeth fixed they wanted to reschedule him a month out. Usually when I arrive on time. They make us wait anyway for 10 to 20 minutes. The staff was being very petty and took more time gossiping in the back and having shady conversations then attending to my sons dentist appointment. I had to just put this place behind me and find a new dentist for my kids. Its definitely not the same understanding, kind or experienced energy they use to have years ago. NEVER TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE! they insisted on sedating my child "just in case". she's always done wonderfully at doctors and dentist. there was no need for sedation. On top of that they said I wasn't allowed in the room if she was sedated. I don't know about you, but that's exactly when I want to be there with my child. Due to this insistence I walked out of the appointment and went to a different dentist who not only was fantastic with her, he allowed me in the room, no sedation needed. read more

Over the past 6 months, I have been trying to get my kids in for a cleaning, and they have canceled my appointment every time, on the day of. Its frustrating to not be able to get them seen. We have been through a few dentists even though my kids are still little and I have to say, this is by far the best experience I have ever encountered at any dentist. The staff and dentists are all very friendly, very professional, extremely courteous and genuinely caring. They are super gentle and patient with little ones. We see Dr. Z and she is just phenomenal. They allow kids who are comfortable to be completely independent in going back alone or they are more than warm and welcoming when they still want their parents nearby. My oldest needed some pretty extensive dental work and everyone, from front staff to billing staff, to the dental assistant to the anesthesiologist, the dentist - just everyone - was extremely caring and comforting to my daughter every step of the way. They were even super supportive of her little sister who was worried. I also love that they don't try to force kids to bite down for x-rays, they use the handheld backing instead. That was such a relief to my little one who had cried at a previous dentist because the bites were too big. They listen to their patients at every step of the way and talk them through everything they do. They are very thorough, take the time answer any questions (from kids or parents) and go above and beyond to make every patient feel welcome and comfortable. I can't say enough good things about this place. They are truly amazing. I am so thankful that we found them and I'm beyond grateful that my kids will be going back to them for all their dental needs. read more

I love this place, the dentists and dental hygienists are the sweetest people and I always feel very secure when my children come here for their check ups. Even the receptionists are beyond nice and helpful. The billing/office manager (I think that's what she is) however, is one of the most pushy people I have ever met. When my son didn't want to drink the cocktail of drugs they gave him to put him in sedation, she came over and spoke to him and was was to pushy and threatening in my opinion, and just scared him more. He ended up doing the procedure perfectly fine with no sedation. I was there again the other day, and she was very pushy about us scheduling another procedure that we weren't convinced was necessary. My husband told her we wanted to go home and talk it over first, but she insisted we book an appointment. Well, fine then. Book the appointment and we will or won't show up. Very happy with most of the staff and the process - they get you in and out and do great work. The office manager however can go kick rocks. read more

If I could I would rate them a zero!! October 23rd, 2020 my just turned 5 year old son of as suppose to get one small filing in between two molar teeth. They wouldn't let me or his dad go back with him to do the anesthesia. My son was petrified!! After my son was asleep they came out to inform us they need to cap the ONE tooth!! I asked what changed from the week before until now. The assistant didn't give us a definite answer she said that is just what she was told my the dentist. We agreed to ONE cap on the tooth with the cavity. Once my son was finished they brought us back into the room where he was asleep. He had blood in the corners of his mouth. I looked in his mouth and he had EIGHT caps on ALL of his molars!!! I asked the dentist why he capped all my babies teeth when we specifically said only one tooth as he had NO OTHER cavities!! The dentist told us "Due to his behavior we thought it was best so he didn't have to be put to sleep again" WHAT? My son just turned 5 and he was scared! They took his back all by himself with no parents of course he was scared! They had no right to cap all his teeth. I have proof with his X-rays he had no other cavities! And the one SMALL cavity he did have did not warrant a full cap!! My son has had nothing but problems now with the caps digging into his gums!! Swollen and bleeding. All this place does is cap young kids teeth for insurance money. BEWARE of this place!! Do NOT take your children here!! read more

We took my 2 kids here for their first ever dentist trip, they are 2.5 years and a 1 year old. My 2.5 year old was terrified and they were just fantastic with him. They had him straddle my lap and he laid back into the dentists lap. She sang the ABCS for him while she brushed his teeth. Even though he was screaming she was so patient with him and made us feel so much better by telling us its so normal for them to act this way at this age at the dentist and each time gets easier. Ive heard awful stories about some other places where they make the parents feel horrible if their child isnt cooperating. My 1 year old had a great time though lol. Aside from my son screaming, our whole experience here was wonderful upon arrival. I will be taking my kids here from now on. read more

I've been coming here since I was a little toddler- for my regular 6 month check-ups and other related appointments. Great service and friendly staff. I had my first encounter with Dr. Nguyen in June for a regular check-up (had never seen her in the office before, but did not give it much thought at the time). Super sweet and seems like an amazing person. She found some cavities and told me to schedule an appointment to get them treated. Came in a couple weeks later and got tooth-colored fillings. My only complaint would be that Dr. Nguyen seems to be inexperienced with performing composite cavity fillings for the older kids/ deep cavities on the molars. I trusted her to take care of my teeth, and she even assured me that it would be a "quick and easy procedure." One month passes by after the treatment, and I continue to have sensitivity in that area, so I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Nguyen again. When I came in, she "grinded" some of the filling off, thinking my bite could be the problem, however, it wasn't. All she could tell me.. was to wait...just wait... but I had already waited well over 3 weeks, which is not a normal case (ask any other dental office). So I waited another 2 weeks yet my pain is still there. I was worried, not getting clear answers, and had discomfort (sharp pains) when biting down on foods/while eating. So I called a different dental clinic (Everlast Family Dental), was told it's not normal for my teeth to still be hurting for so long, no matter how deep the cavity (drilling/filling treatment) was. Had an appointment with them not too long ago, and the dentist there (Dr. Kim) told me he'll put a sealant over that cavity filling. He explained to me, that since my cavity and drilling/filling was pretty deep and close to the nerve, that I may have to come in for root canal treatment and permanent crowns if the sealant doesn't work within a week. So, I'm in the state where I might have to get another treatment to fix my previous treatment done by Dr. Nguyen ($$). He tells me it's not because of my bite and that this is often the case when doctors with a lack of experience in performing fillings on deep cavities close to the nerve (patients like me) go ahead and do them. I was unaware and I wish Dr. Nguyen would have told me this. I really hope that my teeth will get better. At least I have clear options now rather than being told to just "wait." I am not saying that Dr. Nguyen is at complete fault, but it would have been nice if she had told me about these outcomes/ possibilities due to having a deep cavity BEFORE drilling/filling close to the nerve on my second molar. Just unclear communication. After having no problems with other cavity procedures and regular 6 month check-ups with other doctors at Smiles 4 Kids, I trusted her words that it'll be "quick and easy," but I have wasted so much time within the last month. Think I was too naive/ should have done more research, but then again.. I believe it's her job to give the best quality care and explanations as a certified dentist. I'm assuming she's pretty new though, since I haven't seen her in the past, but she could just be coming from the other Smiles 4 Kids office in Tacoma. I really don't know her exact level of experience; can't find her anywhere by googling. Reviews of her on their Facebook website is high though, so I'm assuming mine is just a special case/ got unlucky. Again, I'm not blaming her for malpractice, but I just wish she had given me better explanations before and also during my second appointment with her, when I was told to just "wait," and keep making appointments to come back. Then again, it's always very busy there so I kind of understand that she had to rush. I hope next time if she has a patient in need of a cavity that's deep/close to the nerve, that she will take a little bit more time to explain the procedure better, etc. I give Smiles 4 Kids 3 stars, because my past experiences have been great, but this one procedure with Dr. Nguyen has really been unfortunate. I don't know how long she has been on the job, but her name is not even on the Smiles 4 Kids business cards, or outside of the clinic's door that has a list of dentists working there. Can't find her on the Smiles 4 Kids website either, but I found out she works at the other location in Tacoma as well, and has been there for at least 6 months. At least Dr.Kim from Everlast can be found easily through google and his years of experience/school (all high), so that's nice. For simple check-ups, she's good, but I would be hesitant to trust her with more complex procedures. Then again, everyone's experience is different. Mine just had to be not as good. read more

I've been to this office 3 times now with my grandkids. The staff is WONDERFUL! They really listen and are so helpful and responsive. My 5 year old grandson made it through fillings with gas. "He was soooo brave!" (With a lot of help from them!) I have a 2 year old granddaughter who went in for a sedated dental exam today. I had talked with them earlier about how difficult/anxious she is. And how strong! They were totally prepared. She'd had a surgery not too long ago, so I knew what to expect and suggested an oral sedative prior to the mask sedation. They were right on top of it. I could not be more pleased. And the friendliest, most helpful staff I've ever experienced. AWESOME! read more

My son's dentist is Dr. Bean and I think he may be the best kid's dentist in Tacoma. After our experience at this office, I would never take my son anywhere else. I finally found his permanent dentist. My son has some hypoplasia on his teeth so he gets cavities very easily. He had to have some deep cavities filled and Dr. Bean did the procedure under general anesthesia. And because Dr. Bean in also a board certified anesthesiologist, I felt confident that my son was under the best care possible. Unfortunately, my son was sensitive to the anesthesia so he had some problems with nausea, but Dr. Bean was a phone call and text message away checking on my son throughout the evening to make sure he was OK. I really appreciated that immensly. The care we received by Dr. Bean and his staff was amazing. I highly recommend Smiles 4 Kids! read more

Hands down, one of the best pediatric dentistry offices ever! ALL the staff, assistants and doctors are so good at what they do. They know kids well and know how to make them and the parent feel calm, comfortable and welcomed. Professional, positive and genuine. Amazing staff. I haven taken my grandson to Smiles For Kids three times now. He had not been to the dentist in several years and needed an exam, x-rays, cleaning, one extraction, several fillings and a chipped tooth repair. A lot for a ten year old. He was nervous about visiting the dentist and afraid of the procedures. The entire staff at Smiles For Kids were professional, patient, gentle, and caring. They established trust with my grandson and made him feel comfortable. The quality of their work was exceptional. Dr. Sahar is awesome. We have been going here since my kids were toddlers, now they're teenagers. Was great but the practice was sold some years back. Since then it's been a steady downward decline in all aspects. Our last visit I didn't want my kids to get x-rays since they just had 6 months before (yet another negative change when they obviously just want to charge the insurance more) and I believe once a year is adequate. My older daughter went back first and told them I didn't want her to have x-rays, they hygienist informed her that "she didn't get a choice" and had to have x-rays. This went on until I went back with my son, the hygienist was then talking about me with me sitting right there. She wouldn't clean my daughters (perfect) teeth after. Then the dentist came and said my son needed to have a cavity filled- she was looking at the 6 month old x-rays. When I asked why we weren't told that 6 months ago she said it must have just been missed, and it was too small to show me on the x-ray. We will not be going back. Ever. read more

Dr Yoni Ahdut is by far the best childrens dentist I have ever seen, and having 4 daughters I have seen quite a few. He was so nice and gentle with the kids, the assistants and fun and take their time with the kids. We were taken back to our appointment on time and only had to wait less the 5 minutes for the dentist. The front office is helpful and kind. The nice thing that with 4 kids you'd think I was there all day, but the staff made everything just run so smoothly. What a great office, we'll be back. read more

This dentist office is the best I've been to. I'm prior military so I've been to different areas and have transferred a lot for dentists, doctors, etc. This is BY FAR the best. The front desk staff is very friendly and they remember everyone. That is important to me, makes it more personal instead of just being a number patient. Both the dentists that work in this office are great with my children and they are no longer scared to go to their dentist appointments. Such a great experience! I have have two boys (4 & 2.) They have been visiting the dentist since age 2 but due to insurance reasons we had to switch and Smiles 4 Kids was one of the ones covered. They've always done ok at the dentist (not fabulous) so I didn't have high hopes and weve never gotten to the point where they were able to do a full cleaning. However it went great! The front office staff was extremely helpful when it came to figuring out my new insurance, the dental hygienist Kate was awesome!! My boys loved her and she was able to do a full clean on both of them with no issues. They loved being able to watch the TV on the ceiling and were really relaxed the whole time. She did such a great job of explaining how all the different instruments worked before she sat them in the chair. Dr Yoni was great as well, very nice demeanor and made the kids feel at ease. So happy to have found this place! My 4 year old was actually asking "when can we go back to the dentist" shortly after we left lol! read more
