I have a mixed feeling about this place. The majority of people who work here are not friendly. Sure there are few nice ones but most of them seem lazy. Now the quality of their work???? That can be hit or miss 50/50. The food pedicure came out very nice once but then the lady was rude. I got my acrylic done twice and it was bad the first time and good the second time around. Eyebrow wax was just okay. It is probably the cheapest price you would see around the area. And parking could be a pain depending on the time. They only get stars because they technically got the job done. My two friends and I went in to get mani and pedi packages, and the technicians tried to do the mani and the pedis at the same time. So we had to cross our arms over uncomfortably while a tech grumpily told me that she didn't like my color choice. My tech did not know how to use crackle polish (what is it I don't even...) and I acquiesced her request to just use silver. There was almost no lotion involved, and when it came time to pay, my friend's tech tried to bill me an extra $5 for the crackle polish I didn't use. When I told her why it was $32 and not $37, she tried arguing with me without reason, demanding that I pay the full $37. I just stood my ground and said, "No, no. It's $32. Ask the tech who did my nails. What is wrong with your tone?!" I paid her the $32, gave a 5 to the other ladies for having to deal with this other woman's crap and left more unhappy than when we went in. Needless to say we won't be back. 1) Uncomfortable seating 2) Inconsiderate service 3) Impolite technicians without regard to customer satisfaction 4) Money-grubbing irrationality 5) Poor quality nails Yes, I'm mad, and it was over a month ago. Getting a mani-pedi can be expensive, but at Smiley Nails you can get both for under $40. Don't expect the full-on luxury spa experience, but you'll get great value for your dollar here. I especially like that if it's not too busy, you can get your pedi and mani at the same time, as long as you're not getting acrylics. I usually just get a mani with no polish, just a shiny buff on my nails, along with my pedi and am usually out in an hour. Warning - this place gets busy on Friday afternoons, Saturdays and Sundays and holidays. So be prepared to wait if they've got all the chairs full. But it's usually quick. I think the longest I've waited is 15-20 mins. The bad - parking can be a bear. It's a metered lot, which gets full on the weekends because of the other shops and restaurants in the area. Came early and even if they were still setting up, they still took me in and got everything all ready for my monthly pedicure! Great service! Their new "special" pedicure comes with a scrub, callous removal and massage. So well worth the reasonable cost of $30. They really do a good job in making your feet look and feel great! Update: So I went in today with my cousin and sister. We made an appointment for the three of us and they nicely accommodated us by seating all three of us next to each other. We all got pedicures. My cousin got this watermelon design which looks pretty cute except for the fact that the green overpowered the red (not really watermelon-y looked more like some rasta color thing..oh wells), I got a dark blue with silver zebra stripes which came out looking great. My sister got pink toes with rhinestones. I have to say, their pedicures by far surpasses their manicures. My nail tech was a woman named Tina, she did a nice massage and filed accordingly. Since nursing school has started, looking cute has pretty much fallen pretty dang low on my priority list. Back in the day, I'd have regular pedicures and manicures, and Smiley Nails was my favorite. Reasonable prices for good quality work, and the nail art is fantastic (depending on the technician). After a fairly long hiatus, I recently went back to Smiley Nails with my mom for a little pampering. We called in early just in case, and only had to sit for a few minutes before we were situated and worked on. My feet and legs were very well cared for (the massage was just what I needed!!!), and even though I had started with short scrawny toenails, the results were great! My toenails were evened out, and trimmed well, and the polish job was top notch. My mom's toes came out gorgeous with the loveliest flower designs. I got a gift certificate for a pedicure from my friend for Christmas. I finally came to get it done as well as a manicure since I was to attend a wedding that same day. I had a little bit of a wait because there was a large group that was in first thing that morning. Service was really good. Mary did my mani/pedi and she was really great! I was a little worried because I had just cut my finger on my nail but Mary knew what to do to make sure my nail would make it. She did a fade on my mani and gave me some pretty designs for my pedi. The down side. Cleanliness! When I saw Mary filing my toe nails I noticed that the file was previously used. The give away? White marks along the file. I was pretty grossed out. The nail tech next to me finished her client while I was getting my hands done and she was draining the water from the chair. I saw mold around the drain. Eww!! Lastly - Mary dropped her file as she was putting it away after filing my nails on my hands. She picked it up and put it back into her basket. Is she going to use it on the next client?? I've had better. The best part about this place is the price. If you're in need of beauty on a budget (no judgment here, I love a bargain!) this place is a good deal indeed at just $20 for a plain pedi. This review is based on my most recent visit, which proved that the quality of your experience will depend greatly on the technician you get. Mine was definitely sub-par. A friend and I went in on a Monday afternoon and the place was pretty busy. There were open chairs, but not enough technicians to service them. The friend I came with started her pedi first as I waited for a technician in the chair next to her. I waited about 8 mins before an available technician came over to start my pedi-which was fine since I was happy to soak my feet in the hot, bubbly water. So, the pedi started off alright until I realized this technician was working at lightening speed-and not in a good way, more in a rushed, cutting corners kind of way. It was painfully obvious too because I started a good 8 mins after my friend and was finished before her! She also wasn't the most skilled artist. I had wanted cheetah print and instead got messy dots with black streaks, not cute. I asked her to remove it and just do a plain color. I was very disappointed. I want to write this off as a, "you get what you pay for" experience BUT my friend had a great experience with a super sweet, attention detailed technician who did a great job on her pedi. I decided to stop in to Smiley since I had been here once before with Cinsational C. but had just kept her company. I was a bit turned off at the time that they used a razor to get rid of of calluses, I just think it can't be sanitary. But that is just me. I was seen quickly and Trang was the one who did my pedicure. I always bring my own nailpolish now because I know salons tend to use acetone to thin their polishes out when they start to get gloopy. This actually makes the polish chip faster. So I come in with my own top/bottom coat and polishes (because I almost always use at least two colors and I'm not paying extra!!). I didn't really feel like talking, but was polite said my pleases and thank yous, and briefly told Trang that she could just file my nails because I had recently cut them and if she could please clean up my cuticles. I have curly nails so I tend to get really bad hangnails and cuticles unless they are cleaned up on a regular basis. Trang did a great job and got all my cuticles off without (1) cutting me or (2) me even noticing how much she was cutting. To me, this is a great skill. She gave me a great massage that was so relaxing, my brain stopped working and I had to take a 15 minute (seriously that is how long it felt) break from the text session I was having with my BFF. I really needed it since I had been standing on our hard tile floors the day before cleaning the house and my feet were definitely sore. The polish job she did was great, I'm not sure how long it will last, but a friend of mine says easily 3 weeks. I got all of this for the low price of $27 including tip, the pedicure itself was $21. A good price for a really good pedicure and a great foot massage. Now that Winam is located right across the parking lot, this will probably be my new pedicure spot. I think I will bring my own tools next time, just because their tools didn't come out of an autoclave bag. I am sure they were sanitized since they had a ton of sanitization machines, but I'm paranoid about picking something up from a nail salon! read more

Went to get a quick mani/pedi before going to dinner for my birthday. The good stuff: girls are sweet and made an effort to talk to me, not just talking to eachother in Vietnamese. They are fast. I love whatever that stuff is they put on the top that makes your nails "sparkle like diamond in the sun" ; ) The bad: I hate that stinky generic pink lotion that they rub ALL over your arms in an attempt to give you a "massage"... I'm kinda a wimp but I literally felt like my forearms were bruised the next day and I had to go home and wash my arms to get the stank off afterwards. The dealbreaker: I wouldn't ever come back here unless I really needed a cheap and fast nail job. The reason why is b/c as someone else mentioned, it really grossed me out that they have you walk across the floor barefoot to get to the dryers. It wasn't that the floor was disgusting or anything, but after you have just had your feet washed and scrubbed you dont really want to walk across a bare floor at a cheap nail salon... I had to wash my feet at home before I got in bed that night. You can call me crazy, or just clean... whatevas!! Bottom line: only go here if cheap is your main concern. This is my go-to place for pedicures! Ever since my friend recommended them to me, I've been loving Smiley Nails! One thing that I love, like everyone else, is the low price! I mean, $25 for a pedicure with nail art is so cheap compared to other places I've gone to! I've payed as much as $40 for a pedicure which didn't even last as long as the ones I've gotten from Smiley! That is another thing I love - they do such a good job and my polish doesn't chip for a long time! And I'm not someone who's gentle with my feet. Only four stars though just because I don't always get the best service. I've had this man once who was just wayyy to rough with my massage; it pretty much hurt the whole way through. However, the paint job and nail art is always beautiful! I usually let the girls do whatever they want with the art and it always comes out so cute! It usually gets busy around 1-2ish on the weekdays but usually when I go around 12 it's empty and I can get a chair right away! So my sister in law and I went there on November 20,2015 and my sister in law did a full set and they mess up her nails and the paint is coming off and they didn't do what she wanted.. For me I did the gel color and it came off we had this done less then a week.. I will never return to this shop! I made the mistake of going here instead of waiting for my regular nail shop's 1st available appt. I made an appt for 5:30 pm at Smiley Nails for a nail fill. I was the last person out of the shop, my nails were still wet and I was being shooed out the door because it was after closing. That wasn't my biggest concern though, it was the skin infection I developed a day or two later. I scratched my face with the tip of my unfinished nail and whatever virus was on my nail was transferred to my face. It was awful, I had to go to the doctor to get anti-biotic to treat it. I had that infection on my face for over a month. I don't get cold sores, and the doctor confirmed it was not related to any thing like that. I retraced my steps very carefully and I'm convinced this is where I picked up the infection. I sincerely hope they start doing a better job of sanitizing their equipment. read more

It's been over 2 months since I went to get my acrylics taken off at Smileys and it was the worst experience of my life. The lady doing my nails literally took a flat tool in between my real nail and fake nail and RIPPED the fake one off. I showed that it was hurting me and she just kept going and said to sit still. I asked her to soak it to help take off the fake nail since that's how it's done at every other salon I've been to, but she said it would "take too long". Eventually after the fake nails were off, she started filing my nails to the point where I could start to feel a burning sensation since she ripped off parts of my real nail while taking off the fake nail. I couldn't sit through the entire procedure so I asked her to just stop and leave it how it was and I left. I forgot to take a photo that day but this photo is of my nails where you can clearly see the difference between my nail growing back vs how messed up my nails were after my visit to smileys. I'm still waiting for my nails to grow out so that they can go back to normal. Never EVER going back to this place again. 10/10 would NOT recommend. read more

I come once a month because I have found no other place that does my toes this well. I was recommended in college by a girlfriend, and I have never looked back. I only get pedicures, but it lasts the entire month and I am always on my feet moving around, at the beach... the stylists are quiet and fast, and give a really good leg massage. Its not a spa, so don't expect soothing music or fresh smells, but all I want is in and out, so its perfect. They need a bit more neon colors, but I always get blues and greens, and they usually have something I want. Paint is clean and if I make a mistake on the way out (oops!) she always helps me free of charge. Pedi is 20$ manipedi is 30$. read more

Good quality pedicures that last 3+ weeks. Their nail art is very cute-not sloppy or tacky. If you're in a rush, you can get a manicure done as you sit back to relax your pedicure. They can do standard french-tip or american-french-tip, which includes painting the tip of the nail rather than attaching a strip of material. In my experiences, they have always been very kind, gentle and sanitary. They sand your feet rather than shaving the skin off, which can be painful. They treat your cuticle gingerly and push to shape rather than cut (unless you have really unruly cuticles). A total of $20 (including tip) for a pedi with nail art is my cup of tea :) read more

I've been here twice and I'm not sure why, but I'm not that impressed with this place. The prices are reasonable, but their service seems to be inconsistent. I've gone with a friend since she gave me a gift certificate and I guess since she's a regular and goes to a specific tech, she got serviced faster than I did by having her mani and done at the same time, where as I was moved away after my pedi to do mani at the tables. I guess that wasn't bad, but I didn't care for that i couldn't talk story with my friend and would finish much later than her since her tech was doing her mani in the same spot as her pedi. It wasn't a big deal for me, but I felt bad having my friend wait another 15-20 min for my tech to do my manicure. The only real downsides to me about this place is the parking (I mean it is the Kaimuki lot so you have to be patient) and that they don't accept credit cards. :( read more

I come here for the cheap mani pedi combo. It really depends which girl you get that will determine how good your nails will come out. The polishes are way diluted, but you can bring your own. It's always busy so if recommend coming early or some random time. I used to get my nails done here for prom and stuff in high school and it seemed to have decreased in quality since then. Anyways, I do like this place a lot, although a lot of people shuffle through here. Which does make you question what sort of foot fungi and bacteria are lurking in the foot baths. Also they have the shaving tool which is sketchy since you never know what kind of pathogens are chillin' on the tool from the millions of other feet that they've been used on. read more

I come here frequently because I live nearly 3 minutes away. I've always noticed they aren't friendly to the customers who come in but for the most part they do a good job with my acrylics and I've had a lady named Amy of Ana can't remember but she gives the best pedicures there for sure. Then, each time I come the prices seem to differ, they get less friendly too. After my last experience my pedicure was horrible, she didn't massage me well at all. It was like she was rubbing my feet so gently and soft there was no point of the lotion if she didn't plan on massaging it into my skin. And if I wanted that experience, I would go to a day spa. At smiley nails, in less than 30min (not including wait time) you're in, you're out, and on with your life- with a fabulous upgrade to your foot-game. The best part about this place is the massive amount of staff they always seem to have around. If you want a mani/pedi and you're lucky enough to go when it's not too busy, they'll assign two girls to work on you at the same time. I hadn't been here for awhile (had been doing home pedicures recently) but my mother-in-law wanted to treat me to a pedicure so she and I went this morning. On Sundays they don't open until 10am. We got here around 10:20am and were surprised to see that the parking lot was full! But we got lucky and scored parking right away! The salon was half full--- we were seated right away and one of the girls got started on my mother-in-law right away. I had to wait a little while for another girl to finish, which was completely fine! My pedicure came out great, as always! This place is definitely my go-to pedicure place!! Smiley Nails looks like it's in a ghetto neighborhood, but they've won some awards for being the best nail salon. My friend who was getting married, treated the bridesmaids to mani and pedis here the day before the wedding. They have a HUGE staff. We had five girls who were getting manis and pedis and we were all done in less than an hour! They pretty much had two people working on each person so that nails and toes were completed around the same time. My pedi person spent a lot of time prepping my feet, so that was nice. The nail art is cute and I often get many compliments. The only negative is that when you are done with your pedicure they make you walk barefoot across the salon to the drying area.
