I recently had to take my two vehicles in to get the smog checks done and I've gone to Smileys for years because of the great service. The tech, John, is very efficient and had both vehicles done in about 25 minutes including the paperwork. Due to my past experience with John, I knew it would be done quickly and once again he proved me right! We got there on a Saturday morning at 8:08 and we were done at 8:33 and that included all the forms and the payment. They start taking vehicles at 8:00am so if you want to beat the normal line, get there early. When we left there were four waiting but I'm sure they were also out quickly. Went in to get my car smogged, pulled in front of bay to ask if they had time and instead of greeting me or listening to my question the old man pointed at a do not block bay sign and told me when I parked in their lot he could answer my questions. Service is a person to person action and this location simply failed at human interaction. read more

I have been taking my vehicles here for smog tests for the past six years. I stopped by yesterday and the place was packed. I went elsewhere but because this was not a Star Station I had to return Shell. My experience was great as usual, they had two technicians working and I was in and out in no time. I went to get a smog check, I have a severe tremor disability which causes me issues to fill out forms. when told to the man clerk, he said to bad you have to fill it out, I couldn't even print my name. Needless to say, I had to go somewhere else. If you have a disability, they aren't nice. read more

The smog test was good. The coupon was no longer used ( 11/24/2021) but the price was still good. No mask was used with all employees there.

Excellent customer service when I took my van in for a smog check. After being there a week before and didn't pass smog (I was shocked but found out it didn't pass because I had a new battery installed and something didn't reset correctly) the gentleman was so courteous and remembered I was in a power chair. I didn't have an appointment but when he saw me pulling in he met me and instructed me to pull around to the service area and didn't require me to even get out of my van. Everything was handled quickly and efficiently including paperwork and payment while I sat in my van. I wish I could remember his name. Highly recommend Smileys. read more

Smileys needs to train their employees in public relations.I always get all my cars smogged there and usually everybody's pleasant.Today,I went to get my bbq propane tank filled.The employee came out,didn't say squat,no hi how you doing,nothing.I felt like a idiot thanking him when he gave me the tag to pay with.He wanted to get back in the a/c to play with his phone. read more

As crooked as a business gets, they would not pass my vehicle for smog for something I had never been asked for before, keep in mind, I have proof they gave me, emissions wise, my vehicle passed with flying colors. Wasted my time and made me get them information they asked for to pass it and when I come back the same gentleman that told me exactly what to bring him (John) tells me, "Sorry, that won't work." Are you kidding me? You told me exactly what you needed and I went out of my way and spent money to get that information that no other smog shop had hassled me for. Keep in mind my vehicle is a 1997 so this is not my first rodeo. I personally have a friend that would take their Durango to them and they would pass it by putting another similar vehicle on the rack, passing that one and falsifying documents but you cannot pass mine because of something stupid, I had never been asked for before or had an issue before at another smog shop. Mike, from someone who has also been in the auto world, the least you could have done is refunded my money for all the time I wasted going there to begin with (multiple times. Learned my lesson, Merced Smog will be the place I continue to go to, that's what saving a couple bucks gets you apparently, unreliable, lazy work. read more

The guy name Mike who's doing the smog was very unfriendly,could not tell why the car is dying.Our car has been fix by E & J and everything was perfect,I can't see anything wrong on our vehicle. I always take my car here when I need a smog check. They're super fast, very experienced and cheap. I had forgot the $10 off coupon they normally run in the local papers and he gave me the discount anyways. Was in and out in 15 minutes. They even have some sort of guarantee that you will pass, but am not sure of the details. read more

I brought in my '94 corolla and there was a little bit of a wait but nothing too long to cause an inconvenience, these guys however gave me $10 off my total and apologized for the wait. Got the coupon in the Sun-Star for $29.99. Wait not too bad. But failed. So they said drive 100 miles, then come back. Went back next day. They said if it passes it's $8.75 for the certificate (didn't tell me that at time of service but ok whatever) It passed and overall, the technician John was super nice. Best in town for smog. Usually busy, so plan ahead.

Went for a smog check with 90's truck, other smog places wanted to charge more because of the year. It was cold in their waiting room and it was nice they run a propane patio heater for their customers. They also have two techs so the smog machine is constantly used so the process of waiting is more smooth. I will keep coming back here. Had a smog check and had no issues brought a coupon I printed from the Merced Sun Star. Changed the price immediately, other smog places wanted to charge me extra because of my older truck, Smileys had the same flat rate. I like that they have two techs in the shop so that the work load flows faster. I took my truck to get a smog test done. I will say I was pleased with the level of service. From the cashier to the test guy they where helpful and honest. I had my young daughter with me and their interaction was stellar.. I was in and out of the place within 20 mins.. customer service is not hard and very important to my repeat business which these fellows have earned.
