Best smog in town, fast and cheap, these ppl know what they are doing and do it right

If you have a 1999 or older vehicle, you need a smog shop with a dyno. Grumpy's was the best price I could find calling around in turlock. When I got there, dude was super friendly (Freddy). I was next after the current smog test and only waited maybe 10 mins until it was my turn. 2000 and newer are obdii tests where they just plug in a cable, so they're pretty quick. Dyno tests take a little longer of course but still a very efficiently ran shop! I was out of there in under 30 mins including waiting for the car before me. Freddy took the time to answer a few questions while he worked and didn't seem bothered by my questions or watching from outside the shop. When you receive great service, don't forget to tip a few bucks, it helps keep that service great for others. (I'm not affiliated with Grumpy's in any way, just a happy customer that was able to head off to safeway and use the dmv kiosk to keep up to date). Excellent, 5 star service! read more

Came here on at 4:00 pm in a weekday, when I arrived the gentleman informed me that the wait would be 45 min to an hour as there was 3 cars ahead of me. He was extremely friendly and offered me bottled water. Even though I had to wait, he was extremely friendly and even came in and talked to the customers inside as he was finishing up each smog. Joking about how he had to work on his birthday. The smog price was perfect for my budget and he service was excellent. I will be coming back here for future smogs. read more

Unbelievable!!! Tech asked a different customer to help him check my car!! Bad business ethics!! The other customer told the tech that he thought I had a problem with a head gasket due to smoke. Clearly unqualified and not an employee. Tech takes his word for it and failed my car! I went straight to a local shop in my town and it passed with no problem!!! This business was trying to take advantage of me for being a woman!!! I give you no stars!!!! read more

Wow, what a great guy. He looked over the car and found a hose that had a crack in it. Instead of failing the smog he showed me the issue, told me the cheapest place to get it, and told me to come back. We came back and passed. Recommended. read more

This is review is only for one of the tech. The first tech who help me was amazing. Diagnosed my problem and help me right away. The other tech lied about not being able to scan the paper for lowering the score. Instead decided to say he couldn't scan the dmv paper work because it lower their star point. Only made that excuse because one of his family or friend showed up after I came. read more

I was there last year for a smog and the check engine light was on when the tech pulled my car in, it failed. Went to another smog shop in Merced and they told me the check engine light needed to be off in order to smog it. Well why didn't the first tech from grumpy inform me of that instead of doing it knowing it wasn't going to pass and then charge me and then was going to charge me again to do it a second time. Don't go here, plenty of honest smog places to go! Not a fake review like the owner says just a rip off if you go there. This guy expects me to have a receipt from a year ago!!! Hahaha take me to court for slander I don't give a F*** you are a dirty smog place and I would go to any other place but yours. Learn how to treat customers and not pad your pockets!!! Fastest smog check I've ever had. There was no one ahead of me and the check itself seemed very quick. During my short wait, I got to pet the softest golden retriever ever who was hanging out with her "dad" at work that day, so I definitely picked the right smog place out of my many options! I usually care only about products/services and prices (nice people are a plus but not a deciding factor for me), but chatting with Hormouz about dogs and my new town was like chatting with a friend, and made the experience even better. Smog check's are the worst, and take a long time. These guys got me finished quick, I went over on my lunch break thinking it would take a whole hour, but they got me in and out. Also I thought i had gotten a discount or something, but it just happened that their prices are just really low. I am used to paying $60 a smog, it was almost half that.
