From the moment we called to see if he could come check out our washer to the moment he arrived to our home 10/10 with professionalism, knowledge and responsiveness. Ron was here for about an hour and a half trying to figure out what was wrong with our washer. He confirmed nothing was wrong, worn out or broken and suggested we buy some vibration pads to help minimize the violent shaking it's been doing. He refused to take any payment for the service call because he said he did nothing. We gave him some money for his time and recommendations and are super appreciative for his time. Our dryer kicked the bucket around 4:30pm on a Friday. Of course!! To be honest I called some of the bigger appliance repair places first. One said they can come in 2 weeks. Another was already closed for the weekend. Searched on Yelp and found Smith. By the time I called it was after 5pm. To my surprise he picked up the phone. Said he could come the next day between 12-3pm, but he would text when he was 30 minutes out. He texted at 12pm that he's been here in 30min. Only took him a 1/2 hour to diagnose the problem with our washing machine leak, and he immediately attempted to locate parts. Ron Smith is the best. My Viking microwave stopped heating a few days ago, and I called Ron for repair. Ron is very experienced, he said it is probably caused by a broken switch which is very common for a 10 years old microwave, and it is an easy repair. His words made me feel better (yes, I considered to purchase a new one which costs $1100). Ron showed up on time, and the problem is what he expected. Thanks to PSCott C's review, we ended up contacting Ron to get our Dacor hood fixed. (We wouldn't have bought something so high end :( but it happens to be the stove the previous owners of our house decided to install). My heart plunged when the hood got bent after getting stuck on a fruit basket on our tiny counterr (instead of closing flush to the counter it's bowed). My husband sent Ron the model number over e-mail and a picture of the destruction and he was kind enough to give us the quote for the material and the visit (no labor fortunately with this one). Integrity & Honesty - that's what impressed me. We had a washing machine that wasn't draining. The standard solution is a new pump. Ron installed it, tested it, and that wasn't the problem. He found a different problem, fixed that, and did not charge me for the pump. He could EASILY have just left it in and charged me - I'd have never known that wasn't the problem. Our gas dryer stopped igniting. After leaving a message, Ron texted me and said he could be here at 9am the next morning ( Saturday!). He also asked for the Model and serial number to check for availability of an igniter should one be needed. He arrived on time and found that our igniter had tripped off due to over heating. Called Ron after talking with Viking to find an authorized service provider in the area. Found out the last service I used, Appliance Service & Parts in Bothell, was no longer an authorized service provider. I have not had much positive experiences in the past when it comes to getting our Viking appliances repaired (avoid 5 star or Viking Appliance Repair in Seattle - I have a review on them). Either I can't find companies to do it in a timely manner or they are just a scam by charging a crazy amount of money for repairs. Ron was prompt to return my call and luckily was going to be in my area the following day. He was the only service provider where I wouldn't have to wait more than 3 days to get my Viking freezer drawer looked at (it wasn't cool enough so our freezers items all got sloggy and slushy). When he came, I felt he genuinely spent time diagnosing the problem and while he wasn't 100% sure if he fixed it, he did say if it in fact a leak through our system I wouldn't be charged another service diagnostic fee if he had to come back out. Small thing but I appreciated that he brought it up first. His prices are pretty in line with what I find other Viking authorized service providers charge and he seems highly knowledgeable. One of the only appliance repair service companies where I didn't feel totally ripped off. Hard to find in a sea of scammers! Nice work, Ron. read more

Did, however, make a point of his $95 show-up fee when asked directly but which isn't mentioned on his website or in previous Yelp-controlled email. Never heard from him again. Pretty poor service.
