A rare gem of kindness and community spirit! I stopped by Smith Farms this evening hoping to grab some cherry tomatoes, only to realize they had already closed. I figured I'd missed my chance--but to my surprise, they opened the doors just for me. My total came to $6.50, and with their $10 minimum for card purchases and no cash on hand, I was ready to walk away empty-handed. Instead, they handed me the tomatoes and refused to charge me this evening (I will go back tomorrow and pay them). In a world where generosity feels increasingly rare, Smith Farms reminded me what true neighborly kindness looks like. Cute place in what we consider at the Huntington Beach area. West of the 405 ,Brookhurst and Ellis. They usually have seasonal strawberry picking (not this yr due to covid). They have a mix of organic, non organic and farm grown items. We bought some farm grown organic strawberries and some Local cali cherries. Their avocados were huge at 2.00 each. We had a bunch at home already otherwise we would have got some today. Nice seasonable friuts and veggies. Good to support local! Good to show kids where food comes from! First time we actually stopped at Smith Farms in Fountain Valley after years of just driving by. The lovely missus was on a quest to find fresh strawberries, and after two attempts at local stands by the other farm, our decision to check on this Smith Farms was fruitful. The displays of produce and fruits once we enter the small enclosed stand was abundant. Our strawberries were in the red basket, and wow, the navel oranges are great at $0.75 /LB. Got me a bagful, and they are sweet and full of natural juice. We also bought red Roma tomatoes, a bunch of fresh green onions, and I could not resist... a bagful of salty peanuts. The sign at the cashier posted a minimum of $10 to use a CC...wow, we just made it over that. I would have added more fruits such as peaches and tangerines and apples and more of the produce, such as greens and round brown onions. No need to do that, but now we know that this Smith Farms is a good source to get organic fruits and veggies. We would definitely stop here at Smith Farms again and check out what is displayed. I've known about this place for a while, and love that they grow all of their seasonal produce. Buying directly from the farm guards against premature pickings and ensures fruits and vegetables are at the peak of its ripeness and nutritional value, not to mention flavor. Also, who doesn't love supporting small family businesses? I don't get the chance to buy much from here due to its distance from me, but I recently came to take a look at their selection of Christmas trees! I had just come from Armstrong and Home Depot who were sold out of my favorite kind of tree - silver tip fir & noble fir's only 3 days after Thanksgiving (due to smaller deliveries, not because they're most popular). It seems most people go for fraser fir or douglas fir, so there were tons of those left. Smith Farms just had their first truckload delivery of silver tip and noble fir's (amongst a few other kinds) and had barely gotten around to pricing the trees, so I had a great opportunity to check out their cream of the crop! I really appreciated their selection. We were in the market for a 5-6 foot tree and theirs went for $110 (with the stand which was already fixed on it), and for $20 less you can get it without the stand. They had a better selection of trees in the 6-7 range and taller, and their trees were beautiful. Unfortunately I did not find a 5-6 foot tree I really wanted, but found plenty of 6-7 foot ones but they were out of our budget, but it's nice to know there are other options out there! read more

I went here for the Strawberry festival that was hosted today. Staff was nice and I came early enough to park onsite. The produce was gorgeous and organic too! Some of it was kinda pricey but some of it was actually priced reasonably. I got the big 3 pack of organic strawberries for $8, which is a great price since those things are usually $10+. They sold mostly strawberries, but there were veggies, jam, honey, and roasted peanuts. We got to pick our own strawberries and it was lots of fun. There were lots of delicious looking strawberries and was picture perfect. There were even flowers growing and the sun was shining. Honestly, all it needed was a rainbow and unicorns to make this scenery even better. There was a pony at the petting zoo though. The festival was fun though. Lots of animals to pet, bounce houses, and free ice cream. I'll definitely come back again for the great produce and staff. read more

Confused. Closed every time I tried to come by to buy a pumpkin. Arrived once at 8, chain to parking lot was up/no one there. Arrived again at 9, chain still up, customers waiting outside trying to find employees. Waited until 9 15 and gave up and left. Tried to verify hours online on website and the website only has a home page with photos but the other tabs /links are broken or no info on hours. I called the number that popped up on Google and it rang and rang with no voicemail set up. Not sure when they are actually open or if they have normal business hours. read more

So disappointed with this place. Super cute with Christmas decorations. Walked in hoping to get a Christmas tree. Extremely overpriced! Prices were ridiculous for a single Christmas tree. Could I spend $150-$200 on a tree? Yes, but I could not justify it coming from a dirt lot in the middle of the OC. I looked up reviews on their Christmas trees only to find many unhappy customers, so I left and got a tree elsewhere for much less $$$. read more

I've been shopping here regularly since the pandemic hit 1 year ago when I began trying out the various farm stands in OC, but this one quickly stood out . . . as their strawberries and melons were so, so good! I also liked the variety of fruits (melons, berries, stone fruit, apples, bananas, kiwis, mangoes, pineapples, etc.) and veggies (lettuces, asparagus, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, potatoes, carrots, peppers, corn, etc.) that they sell, which made it so easy to do all of the fresh produce shopping in one place. And as much as I like farmer's markets - it's oh-so-nice to know that this place is open 7 days a week . . . and through the afternoon. So convenient! I just bought a carton of strawberries last weekend (March 21) - and I was so surprised by how sweet they were . . . this early in the season!!! They also offer honey products, bagged mushrooms and fresh roasted peanuts. Shop local, and support a truly local farmer! read more

Holy Cow! Man-oh-man the mangoes this time of year have been off the charts incredibly sweet and juicy! The tomatoes and peaches have been awesome too. Without hesitation, this is my favorite stop for fresh produce! I used to go weekly, I need to step that up again, have been lazy and grabbed stuff at the grocery store too often. I enjoy the staff here - friendly. I LOVE the fresh, quality produce. So delicious, and well priced. This is a small stand with ample parking, and good variety. Why is it so hard to find organic pears??!?! Trader Joe's have them every so often, whole foods runs out of them often. I'm one of those crazy moms who makes her own baby food and so when my 6-month-old fell in love with his organic pears....i needed a half dozen to make a 2 week supply! Thank goodness I found Smith farms. They always have organic pears and lots of other organic produce. They also carry non-organic produce which works for me cause I cant always afford organic produce especially if we are having a party or something. Service is great and super friendly! Farm fresh fruits and vegetables with great customer service! Love seeing the farm on-site. The staff is warm, welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. It's nice knowing the produce is local direct from the on-site farm or another local farm so very fresh and flavorful. (As an example the sun ripened tomatoes here are farm fresh and so flavorful and when I asked grocery store about their tomatoes they were from Argentina so had been days on planes and trucks and had no flavor so obviously not as fresh either). Prices are good too! I got so many fresh vegetables and fruits today that will last all week for the same price as one restaurant take out meal for two. I came here specifically to pick strawberries for dipping and found the reddest brightest most perfect looking strawberries I'd ever seen! Only problem was that they were tiny. I thought whatever, as ripe as they were I didn't mind. I took them home put them in the fridge overnight and to my surprise, when I pulled them out the next morning they were a really dark red almost burgundy color as if they had aged a week overnight? They then rotted very quickly thereafter. So on that note, although the staff was friendly and despite my initial assessment, I won't be returning. Maybe I did something wrong idk. However I did have a very specific product in mind that I needed for my business. If you don't have a need for super large strawberries that stay edible for longer than a few days then I highly recommend this place. One more thing, I forgot to mention that they're organic. Most everything is fresh and ripe, and the dudes working the counter are friendly even when they don't recognize us. Prices are awesome on their homegrown produce, but they also carry bought-in stuff, which is more average both flavor- and price-wise. I decided to attend their very first Strawberry Festival on Earth Day today. There was ample enough parking on the farm's lot or behind it on the street or at the school lot. I got there 15 mins after opening and people were already lining up. Although it was busy, the staff were calm and helpful, getting everyone their wristbands, basket for picking strawberries, and the ticket for ice cream with strawberry topping. I enjoyed the organization of the event. There was a petting zoo, games, and blowup jumping gyms for the kid (I forgot what you call them). Then there was a nice market, with organic produce and other items for purchase. The farm had different veggies growing there and the main event, strawberries! They were SO ripe and smelled sweet and tasty. It was a nice friendly environment for the entire family. read more
