I don't usually write reviews as I never have time, but I wanted to recommend Smith's food in Draper, Utah, and the level of employees that they have working with the public. Tonight, my wife went to the store and somehow left a couple of bags behind with groceries. I went in afterwards as we were putting things away and noticed it. Some of the groceries were not with us. I went back about 30 minutes later and spoke with Luna and she totally understood and allowed me to go replace the items that were missing. I love great Customer Service and I love it when my grocer tries to remedy a situation. Luna deserves a lot of accolades for her Customer Service. read more

The produce is way better than every other store in a 5 miles radius, yes, including the one that rhymes with Arman's, Bar Man, Carmen... the butcher shop is what I'm referring to for this visit. Everyone has short ribs for braising but never for KBB. I asked the guy place meat in the display if Smith's takes special orders. Yes! I ordered 3 pounds of thinly cut short ribs and they did not disappoint and there were no additional fees for the excellent service. read more

If there were a negative star rating, that's what this awful store would get. First off, the store smells like mold. Not a little. It smacks you right between the eyes the moment you walk in. Second, this place is mismanaged from top to bottom. Been frequenting Smiths for 30+ years, never once been 'carded' to purchase a lighter. The old lady cashier openly discriminating against me refused to sell to me, even though I am near 50, and visibly so. A young female manager standing nearby stated that lighters are a restricted item 'requiring' ID. Instead of recognizing that I am clearly well above the age for purchasing, she states she cannot make an exception. So I ask to file a complaint. While I wait, an elderly female bagger who clearly has mental issues and can't paint in the lines with the ridiculous makeup on her face starts running her mouth, insulting my attempt to file a complaint. Then an older, ignorant and hostile female manager derails my report and attempts to trivialize and and discredit my complaint saying, "It's not her (the young female managers) fault. Something I never stated. Then, a young male manager appears from nowhere, gets right up in my face and attempts to intimidate me, yelling in my face telling me to leave. No discourse, no dialog, just openly hostile with feeble attempts to intimidate me, over me questioning their 'practices' and trying to file a complaint. Squaring up like he is going to do something (which was hilarious because this effeminate man was about intimidating as undercooked French toast). Unprofessional and near assault, over a lighter and a complaint. There is a dramatic lack of customer service, overall management and operation of this store. The smell of mold should have been enough. From the cashier to the supposed managers, NONE of them should be employed here. This wasn't about proper procedure, it was precisely about discrimination. This store should close. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

I pass two other grocery stores on my way to pick up my groceries from here and it's totally worth it (plus grocery pickup is free if you spend at least $35 which is great). I live right by this location and every time I go there I am satisfied. There are some really good sales that I get every time they go on discount and make me feel like I got my moneys worth and more. The customer service is great and they ALWAYS help me out whenever I have a problem. This is by far my favorite place to shop and it is easy to tell why. read more

I just moved to Sandy from Cottonwood Heights so this Smiths is very close to me. I just got back from Grocery Shopping I tried to go when it was cooler and less crowded. I too must admit I HATE Grocery Shopping. Tonight the Customer Service people sunk to a new all time low. It starts with the Deli Person. She wouldn't even acknowledge me so I went right next store to the meat department. He was fabulous. Less than 5 min later I went back to the Deli. It was if she was on Saturday night live. She chomped her gum and with a nasal accent said we're closed. Oh how convenient! I proceeded to make my way to check out. The Checker looked to be about 18 and seemed very irritated I was checking out. Two of my items didn't have prices. He asked me if I knew what the price was and I told him. The 15 year old checker chimes in with "oh that's probably right they look really cheap." Then she said I had to use paper bags because if I wanted plastic bags I should have gone thru self check out or get them from there. By now I am seething . See last I checked I don't work there. She then Loaded the paper bags to heavy they all broke as she put them in the Cart. She had to get plastic bags anyway I filled out the survey for Smiths. I hope they take me seriously because several of their employees don't need to work with people. I pass a Walmart Neighborhood Market and a Harmon's. What a relief that I have a choice and I choose to never go back. read more

My wife called a cake order in either 2 weeks ago or last week for our daughters birthday party TODAY. I was right next to her when the Smiths rep was speaking and we asked for one cookies and cream cake to say happy birthday with the other 2 just normal. They took her name and asked when we would pick it up. We said Sunday 5/1 at 11 or 1130 and they agreed that it would be ready. So fast forward to 5/1 and we show up to pick up 3 cakes. We get told they don't have any cake orders and that they need 24 hour notice. We specified that we called either last week or 2 weeks ago and they just said "sorry, we don't make those cakes. They come to us pre-made" So LUCKILY they had 2 cakes that we bought but we didn't get what we wanted. We won't ever come back here again. Thanks for nothing Smith's staff! read more

I got to the store and they did not have any orders for today! Now we don't have the cake my daughter wanted for her special day. Not even a genuine apology from the staff. I love this smiths location! Outstanding customer service. The gentlemen working in the meat section are so friendly and quick to serve. I've also always had an excellent experience with their curbside pickup service. We moved recently from the area to Lehi but I keep coming back to this location due to negative experiences at the Saratoga Springs Smith's location. 100% recommend. read more

I would give it zero if I could. Placed a pick up order online today and went to pick it up. It was canceled for no reason. Didn't receive any kind of cancellation notice. They were rude when I talked to them over the phone and had no explanation and would not create the order because by the time I was off hold it was after 5:00, the cut off for ordering. Absolutely APPALLED by the treatment I just received in this Smiths. For context, it's the day before Christmas Eve so I expected Smiths to be in absolute chaos. What I did not expect was the way I was treated. Siri rushed through our groceries during check out, carelessly shoving things with the worst disposition. I figured she was stressed and having a bad day so I tried not to take it personally but she snapped at me for inserting my card before the machine was ready and then inserted my card for me because I was busy collecting pomegranates that had spilled out of their bag as result of how harshly she handled them. Once I (or she I guess) paid she stormed off leaving me with dozens of groceries that I bagged myself. Merry fucking Christmas to you too. read more

Smith's - Multiple broken carts - Grocery Near Me - Draper, Utah

Smith's on 212 E 12300 S is not asking its customers to wear masks, as mandated by the Salt Lake County Health Department. I was just there and 40% of the customers had no masks on and 1/2 the employees had the masks hanging off their face. I mentioned it to the manager (Preston) who said they won't ask any customers to wear a mask because 'it's too dangerous for them'. When asked about the employees with the masks off, he shrugged. The store is fine in appearance and stocked shelves. I have been to this location on several occasions. On a regular basis I have stood at the deli counter for at least 3-5 minutes without acknowledgement from a single worker. I've decided every time that I went there for a quick meal and if I have to wait that long, maybe even longer if I had put up with it for even a 'hello' then it totally isn't worth it. My other complaint is the pharmacy. I have worked in a pharmacy, even more specific a Smith's pharmacy and I know how it is supposed to work and how the staff are to present themselves. This location is not acceptable. Probably not used to being busy perhaps, they clearly can't handle more than one person at a time. I will never go there again, even though they are the most accessible to me. On one occasion I waited at least 7 minutes for the pharmacist to converse with a customer about baseball. I don't even think this customer was getting prescriptions! After he finally left I walked up to the counter because I figured it was my turn and the pharmacist walked away, just blatantly ignoring me. He didn't say anything. I was annoyed at this point. The process of checking out, when he finally got around to helping me, was not smooth. When I guess he was done, once again he just walked away, I wasn't sure if I was done because one again he said NOTHING to me. I found it very rude. I left there as soon as I could and checked my own medication to make sure they had given me the correct stuff. I see a ton of potential for mistakes here because of the non-communication. On another attempt I called and asked for a refill, the person on the line was obviously distracted as I had to repeat myself a number of times. Then he told me I couldn't fill it because it was too soon and the said 'ok bye' I had more questions so I found this rude and I asked when it would go through and asked him to fill it on that date, he said ok and then tried to hang up on me again. I can understand being in a hurry, but this was crazy. Later on in the day I called and canceled my stuff there because I will never return to this particular pharmacy again. Smith's. You've all been there whether in a pinch and it is the closest store to you, or you love their 10 for $10 sales (I'm a sucker), or you prefer their bakery to another (Cheddar Jalapeno Bagels for .50, Holla!). We all know what we are in for at Smith's - quality food, quality products (more likely to be in stock than Walmart), and your average neighborhood patrons. Fancy? Nope. Well, not unless you are at Smith's Marketplace on 33rd East/South- yowzas. When I go to Smith's, I have to take into account the neighborhood I am in. If the neighborhood is dirty, the store reflects those qualities. This particular Smith's was average, but quite clean and offering a quality selection of products. The neighborhood is safe, the workers were all SUPER friendly, even helping us out at the self-checkout to make it bypass the weight register mechanism so we could speed in and out. Also, at 10:30pm, we were the only people in the totally safe store. Tell me you wouldn't do cartwheels for that opportunity after one too many peopleofwalmart sardines-in-a-can experiences, amiright? The prices at Smith's are never great, unless the item is on sale - then you should stock up...just go online and check out the weekly ad before you go. One star rating? Harsh, fellow reviewer. This Smith's has the basics of everything you need from a neighborhood grocer, but is nothing particularly special. read more

I had a terrible experience with the Draper, Ut location of Smith's yesterday the 5th of Sept. The employees were incompetent and the service was terrible. Yesterday, I accidentally used this location as my grocery pick-up; It was annoying, but my fault, so I drove the extra 20 minutes to get out there. When I arrived and called to let them know I was there, I told the man on the phone that I was parked in stall 2. He said, "thank you" and that he'd be right out with my groceries. 17 minutes of waiting in my car, I called again. This time, the boy who answered the phone told me that they could not fulfill my order(even though I had already received a message saying that I needed to come and get it and that it had been gathered) because they were understaffed! Wow, I could not believe it. I told him that 17 minutes earlier, an employee said that they'd be right out. They seemed to be surprised by that and acted like they didn't believe me. The boy on the phone said that they had tried to call and let me know that they couldn't shop for my order...well I looked on my phone and did see a mystery number that had a called only 30 minutes prior to my pick-up time! Where were the texts and emails? I told him that he needed to make this right as it is extremely horrible customer service and a disregard for my time. I waited on the phone for him to get someone...finally I hung up and ran in to get my few urgent items. When walking back to my car, I saw two young employees standing outside of my car snickering. They started to walk back to the store while I walked to my car and drove away. I called again when arriving home and the girl on the phone (Mariah, I believe) was unapologetic and unwilling to fix the wrong. She did not offer any apology or reparations. Never going there again! I placed my order around 11:30 am for a 6 pm pickup. I am shocked that this problem could not have been fixed earlier in the day so that I could go somewhere else and get my shopping done. Because of my time restraints, I could not shop last night and was without essential items. read more

A middle of the road Smiths. The produce dept. here seems to be a bit different. They have discounted overripe bananas (make me some banana bread please?). Very nice store inside. Seems like they did some recent upgrading possibly. Store was clean and pretty well laid out. Parking tends to be good and it is very conveniently located, which may be its best attribute. All the usual Smiths' grocery goodies are here, but I didn't see any fuel pumps or anything beyond groceries, which would normally be a knock, but I always am able to get in and out of here quickly and with ease, which offsets both of those things. Bathrooms are typically clean and well maintained, another definite nice bonus. I don't get into this part of town often, but this place is a like a beacon of familiarity in the dark when I do. read more

The grocery part is ok. Nothing special and the layout seems a little cramped to me. But always organized from what I see. What dropped two stars was how I was treated at the pharmacy. I was picking up medicine for back pain from being assaulted and dragged down cement stairs on my back. I had medication stolen awhile ago and when they went to bill the insurance they said I had a month supply. I said no I don't. But I understood why the insurance would say that. I said I would pay the full amount for the medication. Then the pharmacist and one of the techs move to the side and proceed to talk about me and accuse me of being a drug addict. maybe it was because I'm not white in the city of draper, hmmmm. They did this all Where I could see and hear them!! This was entirely unprofessional and incredibly rude. I will never be shopping at this smiths for food or medicine or anything ever again. Except maybe the cheese rolls. Those are tooooo good lol but seriously if you want good service and to be treated properly do not go here. read more

I don't know how a grocery store in a nice part of town manages to be ghetto, but Smith's nailed it. The smell when you first walk in is unclean, old vegetables, and who knows what else. The selection is limited, the smell of rotten fruit is very present in the produce aisle, and the meat always looks sad. The carts are old and rickety and the whole place looks like it needs to be doused with Lysol. I have stopped here 4-5 times and I regret it every time. read more
