This school has been amazing for our family. One thing for everyone to note: although this school…read moreis located next to a church the school is not a religious school so it is open to all families of all religious backgrounds. I wanted my son to complete his first year before writing my review to see how the full school year went. This school has been great for us in so many ways. Our son who is now just over 2 has completed his first Stepping Stones year. His two teachers Ms. Celina and Ms. Lisa treat our son and his classmates as if they were their own children. The kids get a lot of care and attention. The classroom environment is a very positive and well organized one. Our son loves going there every single day, which makes life easier for us parents knowing our kid loves it there and is in great hands. The other families who attend there have been very welcoming and friendly. Within just 1 year we have become friends with many of the parents at the school and love hanging out with them outside of school. The staff really goes above and beyond for the children and parents. Whenever we visit the school, everyone's always in a great mood. If you're looking for a school where your kids won't get lost in the mix this is a perfect school. The school is also very safe - everyone there takes school safety very seriously which is so important these days. They even has a summer program for the children which is great. The school and parents do an awesome job with the events they organize for the students and parents. I've had the pleasure to get to know the Head of School, Meg Sheehan. She really cares about the students and the families that attend. She's very easy to talk to and is willing to do whatever it takes to guarantee the children and parents have an amazing experience there. All in all, great experience. We're looking forward to our son's next year at this school. Thank you so much NSMS for going above and beyond for us and everyone who attends your school.

At 2.5 he grabbed a paper towel and cleaned up a spill at home! This was something they taught at school. As a parent I love how I can be involved and I gained many like-minded friends because it is a tight knit community of families who believe early education is a top priority .

My children have been thriving in this environment and LOVE going to school. The structured educational practices the Starks instilled creates character and confidence the children need as they begin to appreciate this solid foundation of learning to enrich their minds as they embrace the journey of a well rounded education. My kids start school this week and they are super excited about what this year has to offer. They wondered what projects, performances, activities, the teachers have prepared and how they will be picked to participate with classmates. As parents who want the best for their children we couldn't be more satisfied.

He had a tough time transitioning and eventually we got him to go for a period of 3 months without tears. 6 mos later after winter break, he was horrified going. He screamed, cried and they would call me to speak to him because of how bad it was in hopes to calm him. They would remove him from the class and send him with the director who he had no idea of, in order for the teacher to just continue to teach. It obviously would get bad for any child to go with a stranger. They would then call me to pick him early. I tried to reach out to his teacher multiple times throughout the year in terms of communication and it was extremely poor. The only time I'd get good communication would be if they wanted me to pick him up early ( also stressful for a working parent). In the end, the new director spoke to us and we decided it best to withdraw him. I reached out to teacher to get in touch as to what the heck happened but she wouldn't respond until the director intervened. HORRIBLE SCHOOL and HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION. Do not send your kid here unless he or she knows how to fully speak and even then, they could care less about your child. I was told to ask his doctor about separation anxiety lol. I'm convinced something happened there because he went to a new school shortly after and was thriving. Unfortunately I won't ever know what since my son couldn't properly speak and the teacher was terrible in terms of communicating.

I went to pick him up today, and was told he was too "immature" for the toddler program and just wanted to "play" well, he's two. What should he be doing? Discussing the theory of relativity with his fellow toddlers? I was appalled at not only the choice of words used, but also that she immediately said she would refund the remainder of the month (one day) rather than just let him finish.(?) And no talk of perhaps we should try in the Fall? When he is a bit older? We were essentially kicked out of the school. I found it unprofessional, rude, and in poor taste. As someone who claims to be an educator, I find it uncouth to say the least. I am a parent, and my responsibility is to ensure my child is in the best possible environment to foster his growth as an individual. These facilities are a dime a dozen on Long Island. I will take my business to someone who knows what they are doing. He may not have been ready for the class, but that conversation should have taken place weeks ago. If you were any type of educator, you would have been paying closer attention. After all, that is your job, is it not?

UPK is now 5 days a week 5 hours a day and the kids are expected to learn how to read and write to some extent along with a lot of other requirements. So this program is the right balance of play to let kids be kids while preparing them for the social adjustment. It is a very reasonable priced and very caring school. My daughter is now going there, and my son being very young for the class was quite difficult to handle. However, the school took care of him and never complained. His teachers still see me around and ask how he is doing. Mrs Johansson (the head of the preschool) is great as well and knows every single child and parent in the school by name. You feel like you are a family with them. Make sure to sign your kids ASAP in January/February because their classes fill up quick.

The online payment portal is great and everyone is always so accessible by phone and email, I feel safe and confident sending my daughter each day and I know she is being well taken care of and quite frankly, loved and accepted with open arms. This school is truly a special place and I feel grateful to have found it!
