Different locations, activities, volunteer services etc. For this event past Saturday, it looked to me to be pretty well run. So A 3 or 4 star applies. I had not heard or seen information about the activities done at the West John Location. I happed to go to the post office near by, along with meeting a neighbor. So we walked over half hour before 3PM when tit ended. Their trucks had good and important info on them. Their hand outs did also. ( see pix) Items like have escape routes, review/practice with family, if clothing' catches fire, stop drop and roll. All good points. As for the drama- they lite a wood box on fire up close/ do not cross this line- with fire department personnel in full garb and ready to use hoses to put it out. Everyone could see and feel the heat from the flames and then see and smell the smoke when they extinguished it. They did have some of the guys as crossing guards and that was helpful too. What I felt was missing? Nothing about pets. And maybe they had covered it as we were in on the - tail end of it. As many suburbanites have pets, also seeing the reaction of my own dog backing away from the fire area. I felt a demo and window pet stickers /save my dog- could have been a good added addition. ( something I noticed amiss even at memorial (- 911 ) services honoring All who serve and serve still today. This said as I mentioned it was a good event.

A few minutes ago I swear I thought one of my neighbor's house was seriously burning to the ground…read morebecause I heard what I thought was many fire trucks coming to the rescue! I ran outside to see it was one truck going in & out of the blocks throwing popcorn ball treats to everyone in the neighborhood!! Talk about a sense of pride in my community! Everyone was coming out of their houses to wave to & thank the fire department for their devoted & tireless efforts in keeping the residents of Hicksville safe! The truck was decorated with big candy canes & many volunteer fire fighters adorned the truck waving! They even had a fire fighter dress up as Santa Claus! I'm so humbled & impressed that I just witnessed this act of community, kindness, support, devotion & holiday spirit!! Yay Hicksville!!

The parking lot set up is awful, especially since no one in Suffolk seems to know how to drive or park in parking lots. Now counter employees- one lady is very nice. The two old men however - Andy and I forgot the other old man's name - let's just say his voice and personality is like that of Bert from Sesame Street - these two old men are creeps - Andy especially. Very, very rude. Each time I been in there and got stuck with him, he would make rude jokes about my business name, one day when I finally had enough of it, I smiled and corrected him for this - explaining the pronunciation of it correctly and why it has that name. His response was "oh i know i was only joking" - the other old man was helping him this particular day and he gave me a dirty look. I had 20 packages going out that day, all over the nation - every single package arrived to the recipients badly damaged - considering they went to 20 different locations in the USA - I know exactly where it started - and I'm certain it was these two old men who done it. Post Master took a report, but I refused to go back there - been going to the Selden Post Office - never a problem and all employees are very nice. Fast forward three years - I didn't have time to go to the post office, placed two small packages inside my mailbox for pick up - post office being, of course Farmingville - the packages were two small bubble mailers, light weight, well wrapped, under 2 ounces each and shipped via ground advantage. Two weeks after shipping, still haven't arrived to their destinations (two different states) - I get an email from my shipping service stating the USPS - - my local post office repackaged both packages in flat rate envelopes and up charged me $8 each because that also changes shipping class to priority...I call - Post Master isn't available and never called back. Two days go by, both recipients finally received items - inside these flat rates is the original bubble mailers - which appeared to have been cut open with scissors, items shipped inside were not inside, now my clients are fighting the USPS on their end as well, I finally speak directly to someone from the Farmingville post office about the situation, who said the packages were likely damaged so they repackaged them - here's the thing - besides the fact that one of of their employees cut open the packages, even if they were legit damaged- that doesn't give them the right to up charge me for their negligence, actually it means they owe me money - but now they owe me money and they also owe my clients the full value of the items they stole. Learned my lesson - will only ship packages with Selden Post Office. The only reason I gave two stars instead of just one is because my mail carriers who deliver are usually very nice.

Town of Oyster Bay NY had a special weekend last week. Saturday May 31 was really the day to go…read morewhere everything was up and running from the reunion and reenactment of the Rough Riders to a boat trip in the afternoon at the dock Water front Center West End Avenu in the Park, to so many activities for the day. NOTE: do look up their website for exact details... I didn't. Dang**[. I had thought the reenactment was both days, not just Saturday. So, Sunday when I went nobody knew anything including the people at the dock house for an afternoon boat ride. However on a quiet June 1 Sunday I did get to see Teddy Roosevelt (actor) himself ,a very kind man, an enjoyable presentation from actor Patrick Falci( with help from his wife Joan at the slide projector) who was in the 1996 Rough Riders movie and 1997 Tv show with the same name. Note: if you're a history buff check it out! And a presentation from Head Librarian and curator Sue Sarna showing the - in the works - TR museum being build in N. Dakota( July 2026) a must see for buffs. Stopped by OB RR museum, Hive Market, Once upon a Stuffie, TR bully bar and Sweet tomatoes. It was the flip side for a quiet nice day in Oyster Bay.

We previously contacted this town hall to get required documents we needed to be married in New York since we are residents of Florida. We dealt with Jenn and Georgia and they were both very courteous and helpful. We stopped in today to get our certificate for marriage with all required documents and the whole process took about 20 to 30 minutes if that long it was a very pleasant experience thank you very much Georgia and Jenn.

When the other clerk asked what was going on, the first clerk told her that this woman was going back home to Colombia tomorrow. I commented out loud that the service in this place was amazing. Then the second clerk came around and hugged the woman. On her way back behind the counter, she gave me a hug as well saying she didn't want me to feel left out. Then when the Colombian woman finished her transaction, she gave me a hug also. Five stars.
