This is the classic..good, bad and the ugly. The…read moregood...very friendly people, good rates, clean bathroom, good laundry facilities and loaner van!! The bad...they need to put an effort into fixing the pump out facilities. They need to spend a little time and money hauling a bit of gravel to eliminate the mud. The ugly...the entrance to the marina has sanded in a bit. We draw 5 feet and had to plow through (sand luckily) to get through. This is not the fault of the marina but it is definitely something to consider. There are no dock carts...washed away in the recent flood. Restaurant has been closed for many years..even though it shows on the advertising.

I have spent 40 straight hours fishing from a small Polarcraft boat on Bay Springs. Fishing for cat…read morewith night crawlers at night and changing to lures for Bass during the day. This is a clean water way. The marina has 150 wet slips ranging from 20'-150' and are mostly covered, with 30 amp and 50 amp electrical services and Cable TV. They have pontoon rentals for $325.00 a day. The marina office and store are located at the fuel dock for all boaters interested in marine supplies, snack items, and Amaco fuel. Bay Springs puts on a wonderful fireworks show every July. My husband, a friend and I would join hundreds of other boats on the lake to watch the fireworks reflect over the water. If you position just right the light from the fireworks will illuminate the highway crossing the lake that is packed with bumper to bumper traffic stopped to watch the show. The real struggle is getting back to the truck in less than two hours due to waterway traffic. We just stayed put until traffic cleared and then leisurely boated back to land.

When we need gas, we pop over and the friendly staff fill 'er up quickly and usually remember our names so we don't have to do a thing- a bill just comes in the mail. When we used dry storage, they were the place to go, and they always did an excellent job winterizing and de-winterizing the boat. If we need a repair, they handle it- they will actually drive to your dock (or stranded location if you get cell signal and can call them) and check it out for you. They even install boat lifts for your dock. There isn't too much to say about Duskin Point- because they keep it simple. Boats, jet-skis, fishing boats, related repairs/equipment... they'll handle it. And all with some lovely southern charm!

The only reason this place got two stars is because they have fantastic burgers. Too fantastic. I get the feeling they have something incredibly unhealthy in them. But they're very very tasty. They come with fries. Fries, as in barely plural. You might get eight if you're lucky. Honestly, the cheeseburgers are all I've tried here. They serve alk-ee-holic drinks, too. The main problem (and it's a big one) is the waitresses. Maybe they're understaffed. Maybe they're just plain dumb. At this point, it's a coin toss which one is true. I've waited 15 minutes before on service, while the waitress passes me 7 times, trying to not make eye contact. I get the feeling they get frustrated trying to tie their shoes in the morning. So here's the secret. If there's no one else eating there, they'll be friendly. Too friendly, in fact. I got sick of hearing the waitress give me a song-by-song rundown of the karaoke from the night before. Leave me alone with my cheeseburger. If they're busy, forget getting decent service. They're overwhelmed by more than two customers. "Have you two been helped?" "Well, considering you're the only waitress, that would be... no." The best way to enjoy this place is when you don't care how long you spend here. It's a beautiful view, completely surrounded by water. Stay and watch what my waitress called an "irraluscent " sunset. "Excuse me?" "Irraluscent. You know, all those colors." "Right. okay." They have live music and karaoke at night, which might be fun. I haven't checked it out yet. The service might seem more reliable if it's dark. And you're drunk. And suffering from third-degree burns from being out on the lake all day.

All other marinas on Lake Tuscaloosa are more expensive and require a year long lease. It is run by a manager and college kids, but I have not had any problems with management or the service I get. The facilities are a little dated but the boats are taken care of. Any negative review should be taken with a grain of salt that for the price the marina is spot on.

Yes... this is the old Smith's Marina under new ownership. This is the fourth time we've rented a…read morepontoon for the day from this location and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We had initially reserved a boat for Monday [5/3], but the weather was so bad and scary that we called and they allowed us to postpone until Friday [5/7]. It was a *beautiful* boat day! Blue skies, not a cloud to be seen, albeit a liiiitle bit chilly [not their fault!] and we'd forgotten our long sleeves! :( Grant checked us in, Jacob helped us with the boat [didn't catch the name of the gentleman who actually put the boat in the water with the giant forklift, but he was awesome, too!]. We did our annual Lake Tuscaloosa jaunt down to Sharpe's Landing and Rock Quarry boat ramp and back up to Tierce Patton Road. Jacob even helped get our cooler out of the boat in into the car!! You often just don't get customer service of that caliber anymore! Granted, they've ramped up the charge [$375 from $250 for the day] from the previous owner... But I *think* they're about to either upgrade the boat(s) OR give them a little more power [from 115HP]. They also have wet AND dry storage and perform maintenance/repairs on engines, but I have no experience with those aspects of this business.
