Jim was not the least expensive qoute we got. Jim was the only contractor quoting us that pointed out the grade in the back yard was pitched toward our house which he would fix the grade when he came. My wife and I were originally going to have the sidewalk torn out and replaced with new concrete then stampcreted. Jim again was the only contractor to tell us he could do an overlay on the exsisting sidewalk and landing with stampcrete, a savings of $3500 over the other contractors that bid on only tearing the sidewalk out! Once finished Jim corrected the grade with premium topsoil Icalled Jim to get a quote and got his voicemail he promptly returned my call. He did stop at our house while my father-in law was there doing some work. Jim looked at the work we wanted done and called me later in the day. I asked him to send me a quote but he insisted on meeting with my wife and myself on a Sunday! He showed up promptly on Sunday and went over the job with us pointing out several things we had overlooked. He emailed us the quote the following day,Monday.The weather presented some challenges to start the job. Jim was careful not to start work that would interfere with the pouring of the concrete, stamping, or sealing of his work. Jim has two specialists working with him one of which is his brother Jeff and also John. All three gentlemen were professional and helpful as the process went along. As the work progressed you could see that they had an eye for detail being very particular about how the concrete looked as it was being poured and as it was setting. As they stamped the concrete Jim could be heard offering his coaching of "not so hard"! They used a Bobcat and small backhoe. The process with the machinery tore up the lawn. The topsoil that Jim brought in was the finest quality and the grading that they did to the lawn was near flawless!

Mike also inspected the chimney on the roof and the vent for the oil-based furnace in the basement. Mike provided me a complete report with pictures, and he went over his recommendations. The team showed up, listened to my concerns and went over every crack & crevice with me. They then put hot tar down into & along every single crack/crevice. DO NOT hire DePalma Construction for commercial projects. We…read morehired them to build a heavy-duty parking lot for our semi-trucks and trailers. We had engineering plans in place, but after signing the contract, DePalma ignored those plans and replaced them with his own -- cutting the lot size in half. Now we can only fit 18 trailers when we need room for 60, and there's no space for employee or truck parking. Worse, the lot can't support the weight of loaded trailers. They sink into the ground, sometimes all the way up to the dolly legs. The driveway is dangerously steep and too narrow for two semis to pass, which creates traffic hazards on Hwy 231. Several experts we've brought in say there's no foundation -- just crusher run on topsoil -- and the entire site will have to be torn up and redone from scratch. Despite making multiple payments, including an additional $44,000 to meet a deadline, the property is unusable. On top of that, there's now a lien on the site because DePalma hasn't paid his suppliers. We're sharing this to help others avoid the same mistake. Be very cautious before doing business with this company.
