The parts of the lawn that were very overgrown were pretty evenly mowed and the rest of the lawn was just right. I did not expect them to be able to come the day I accepted the contract but they did. (We were happy they could.) I called them Monday and described the property to Sean and he gave us a quote for a one time mow. I told him that part of our lawn was very over grown (3 feet tall in places). Tuesday, I updated the description on his web site and he adjusted the quote. We spoke Tuesday morning to ensure that our description was clear. We accepted the bid then he explained his crew was going to be in our area so he suggested that we pay by credit card (we do not use Venmo) we did and paid the quoted amount (included tax), tip and credit card processing fee. His crew showed up around 2:00 PM. They asked my neighbor if they could park in his driveway. My neighbor said yes and gave them further input about our lawn. My neighbor said they were polite, friendly and professional. I would use them again if I could not mow the lawn for some reason. The prices seemed reasonable for the service provided.

The other was last week when she hired him to remove a dead ash that was threatening our home. Both times he did the job properly but was rude in the process. On this occasion, we spoke with him by phone about his plans to go all the way across our property and onto our driveway in order to remove the debris. He reluctantly agreed to take the shorter route on our neighbor's property, but when he arrived he started to set up in front of our house. It took several attempts and the threat to deny permission to access our property before he finally became civil and did as we asked. The tree which was very tall and difficult to remove came down with only a little damage to our oak, but Josh never acknowledged or apologized for his rude behavior. The bottom line is that if you want a skilled tree service with seasaoned workers, and you don't mind being treated badly, Josh is your man.

Lyle and his team spent two days removing, spraying, trimming, pruning, yanking, cutting, and sweating to help get my yard not only as free as possible of invasive species, but looking quite nice! Of course when landscaping gets so neglected, the recovery process is going to be several seasons, but this is a great start. Lyle and Tom were extremely knowledgeable, educated me on the plants I have and how to maintain them myself as much as possible, were able to recommend native plants to replace some of the invasives with (other are just pests and need to go), and were communicative and up front about schedule, cost, and what was possible. After getting several estimated on getting my driveway repaved I decided on Dependable. Based on…read moretheir promptness and getting me a good detailed estimate on what would be done for the price. They come out and give a fair and detailed estimate of the job. Even called after a week to follow up because I had not yet made a decision. Once I decided and approved for them to do it is when i begin to have doubts. After almost 2 months of not hearing anything I called. The receptionist has no idea of the schedule and only offers she will leave a note and they will call back. The problem is I never got a call and several days later have to follow up. I was finally called and scheduled a month out further. After a couple days in the morning the crew knocked on my door and said they were in the area and could do the first part now. I said great and was very happy with having it done. Contract said to wait a week before parking the binder coat so to be sure we stayed off it for 4 weeks to be sure. Since then pieces of blacktop have been coming up and leaving marks where the tires were. We are careful not to twist the wheel or dig up the pavement but for some reason I am stomping chunks dug up back in to keep it together. The final coat was scheduled the following year however I feel by then after the winter it will be damaged much more by the time the final coat is done. Currently I have called them. Told by the receptionist the same story that she would pass them a not and he would call. A week goes by with no call so I call again. She said she would personally talk with him at the end of the day and he would call. That was four days ago and nothing. I will be following up again but this seems to be a pattern once you have signed up. At least in my particular circumstance. All I want is to find out If I can get the final coat done this year before winter as I fear the binder will not hold up through next year. This may be an isolated insolent but in my case I feel my calls have been ignored and Right now "Dependable" doesn't come to mind. I have never submitted a report like this until now but seems the only way to get some attention to this matter.

After two service failures in the first month, I requested cancellation and a prorated refund. The owner offered to return only $225.28 (keeping 72% of my payment after completing less 10% of the season). Cited "industry standards" and contract terms that were never disclosed in the written estimate, invoice, or anywhere on his website. I would advise anyone considering being Nature's Companion Landscaping to do their due diligence and speak with people that have actually used their services. It would appear that several positive reviews are fraudulent. Unreliable service, no-shows even after confirming timing, attempts to enforce undisclosed terms when you try to cancel. The written estimate doesn't match the actual service or policies. I cannot recommend this company. I've also filed a complaint with the NY Attorney General's Consumer Protection Bureau regarding the enforcement of undisclosed contract terms. Case number available upon request.
