No doubt about it, but the anticipation of running a new rig is rather exciting so the recent bout of insomnia I've experienced lately propagated yet another early morning adventure. Hopped on the board, rolled down the block, J'd a few lanes and made my way to the door. Still pretty early. 8 minutes till. I brought the store a large rough cut of Black Moonstone, reinforcing the prospect of abundance, a sense of place, and grounded decision making. Handed it over to David and began my look for the GLAZZ. David,Eddy and Brian epitomize the approach to customer service and knowledge sharing that is dull or completely absent at some shops. They are always willing to engage in conversation on product and aspects of life outside of the store which is reaffirming when purchasing nice glass. If any of you read this review, ya'll some standup cats. Their glass selection,as touched on by others, is immense, quality, and reasonably priced considering the majority of stock is from of the local yokels. (I particularly adore the Garner duo's work on dry pieces.) Picked up a Hedman Showerhead Oil Can Bub after giving it a wet run in the shop. Sold. Smooth as nothing I have ever utilized and perfect size wise, I advise if one can swing picking one up do it. I came in today (8/31/15) with a general idea of what I wanted, however, I wasn't sure whether or not I was going to make a purchase. Upon entering the store I was greeted and helped by Brian. Now I would like to mention Brian because he is stellar at what he does; Which is delivering outstanding service. I go to many of the local smoke shops and Smoke Atx is one of the few that I visit more frequently. I have left this shop on too many occasions feeling either very pleased or disgruntled, however, this past visit changes that pattern for me. I am always blown away by the quality of glass, but the customer services has never felt up to par. Today, was a great exception. Brian's off hand knowledge was something I found beyond priceless and his customer services only went above and beyond that. Furthermore, I left today knowing that I'm actually excited for my next visit, which is a more than welcome feeling. All in all, after today, I am happy to yet again call Smoke ATX my local smokeshop. First of all, I never write Yelp reviews so this is sorta a big deal. Yesterday I traveled from Dallas to Austin and I knew I wanted to visit a reputable head shop while I was in town. I did some research and this place seemed to be the best in town. And I was right. We were helped by a extremely nice and professional man named Biggie. He was not only patient and attentive, he was immensely knowledgeable about glass and the industry. He took the time to show me every piece on the wall I wanted. We finally chose a bubbler by the Californian company ti ten. And this piece is no joke. This shop is about quality, so the prices reflect that. Save yourself the time looking and just visit this shop, because you will not only receive excellent customer service, but they will ensure you walk out with a piece that is right for you. This place is where it's at for good glass, Hookah accessories/flavored tobacco, and even Tattoo accessories! The Owner and his cousin currently are the ones who run it and not only are they incredibly nice but knowledgeable. They listened to my BS for a while and actually seemed interested, I go in just to talk to em sometimes! Very nice people, great glass and the only place to get a GREAT SELECTION OF SHELDON BLACK! If you don't know who Sheldon Black is, roll by Smoke ATX and they will open up your world. One other Headshop in Austin has 2-3 Sheldon Black pieces but nothing like the selection they have here, and this is BEFORE they get the new shipment this week! Kangertech OCC .5 coils are hard to come by it seems and you've continually had them in stock. Joe, you got me first upgraded months ago out of a failing aspire with the imotion3 (which i still have as a backup and loaner) and now Ellen got me into the wicked awesome and better cool fire iv from an eleaf istick i had just lost which cost the same. I couldnt be happier with this most recent upgrade. Every time I walk in I feel welcome and walk out feeling like I know a little more and like my business was not only wanted, but appreciated. I absolutely love this place..My friend picked out an interesting pipe and I went in a week or so later to buy a glass water pipe for my friend's 21st. The service is amazing and the guys there, Zach and the two brothers were really helpful and knowledgeable about everything.. They gave me a great deal on my water pipe and even gave me some cleaner and some tips about usage and upkeep. I learned a lot from these guys alone and from shopping around they have one of the best selections for pieces and water pipes. The guys there didn't hassle me about anything and answered the million questions I asked with ease. I started going to smoke atx when they first opened only about 2 people worked there tops. The staff is friendly and polite. Eddie the owner of the store is the nicest and most helpful person ever. I enjoi this shop more than anyother shop in town. the atmosphere and overall time theyve put into the store itself you really notice. ITS NOT your typicall shop, everything is well lite and not cluttered or DIRTY like the many other smoke shops in town. And you dont have to drive down to some shady part of town for some glasswear. the people at smoke atx really know and care for the customer. It was My first time visiting the shop with my boyfriend, needless to say the owner was spot on when it came to his merchandise. He's a very easy going guy with a lot of helpful information, including care. whats even more amazing is all of his glass is blown locally. meaning I probably just supported some starving glass blowing artist. all of the pieces are highly detailed, in fact one bubbler pipe I saw looked as if it had 4 bubblers built into it, and it had awesome speckles of glass and a nice green tint, an all around gorgeous pipe. This place is my go-to vape joint in South Austin. Great advice and great service. I bought a sigelei mod and a mini nautilus from here. The mod turned out to be defective so I went in asking what was wrong and hoping to get a return (totally expecting a hassle) but the guy working behind the counter simply switched out the bad part and it was a done deal! I left with a working vape and bought some Mother's Milk to hit them up with some extra business. My Illadelph ashcatcher broke last week and I was devasted to find out that no smoke shops near my house in Oklahoma were in stock of the same one. Very awesome store, laid back and relaxed vibe, and awesome locally blown glass of all shapes, sizes, types and colors. Went in for the first time yesterday, gotta say Eddie is one bad ass dude. Helped me find the perfect bowl for my new peice; he was very patient, detail oriented, and relaxed, which made me feel like i was right at home. Had one of the worst experiences in retail ever. Watched the owner of the company try to fight a customer in the parking lot. Then his employees tried to join in over a dispute of the guidelines the company organized and would not uphold themselves. I would suggest any other company after this. In times such as these for the owner to resort to violence is just shameful. Police were called and charges were filed. Boycott this type of business if given the chance I won't support a company that promotes violence. read more

I've lived in Austin for ten years and have shopped at several smoke shops around town. Smoke ATX is probably one of the best I've been to. I really like their selection because it is diverse, beautiful, and also, the best part, comes almost completely from local glass blowers. The staff is very friendly (and also patient with indecisive people like me). They gave me a real good deal on the last pipe I bought there, and even threw in some free accessories.
