This place is awesome. I haven't lived in Austin long, but I've already been to a handful of smoke shops and this place is one of the best. All the glass is local, so it's pricey... but definitely worth it. There are some seriously amazing pieces here and something for everyone... they even have some pipes made out of antler pieces! And one shaped like Master Shake from ATHF! Both the owner and the employee we interacted with were very helpful. They acknowledge you when you enter, and frequently ask you if you want to see something. I appreciate this a lot because some of the other shops around have very... distracted employees. :D Buy some Wild Berry incense shorties while you're here. I just moved into an apartment complex near Smoke ATX & stopped in for what I thought would be a quick visit to snag a vape battery. Didn't have any expectations, but MAN was I pleasantly surprised. I was immediately greeted by the store manager, T.J., when I walked in & asked if I needed assistance. He was genuinely friendly, ready to help, & did not try to upsell me (even though it was apparent I knew very little about what I was seeking). Took me straight to what I was looking for, dropped some knowledge on similar products, & made it apparent that these cats actually care about the services they provide, the products they carry, & most of all, the customer experience. Did I mention they have a HUGE selection of literally everything? So much so that multiple trips back will be necessary to fully appreciate their full stock. Fairly priced too. Dropped by my first night in Austin after realizing my inadequate packing had led to a broken bowl, and came on Yelp to find the best smoke shop close to me. I wasn't disappointed. The shop doesn't have an absolutely enormous amount of glass, but it's also not lacking in any respect. There is a nice display for all the heady glass which, and it's always fun to see what your local artists are pumping out when they aren't making $20 spoon pipes. I'm adamant about buying only local glass, and had more than enough selection in that respect; I was tempted to pick up a new bubbler as well. Where they really excel though is customer service. Employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. I came in 30 minutes before close, and ended up staying well after not because they were slow, but strictly out of conversation, and no one seemed even the slightest bit annoyed by it. I ended up leaving with a new vaporizer and bowl, and they made sure to hook it up and make sure I got as many discounts as possible (saved me quite a bit tbh). Absolutely a distasteful "Glass Piece" place I've ever been to. I purchased a piece Sunday (Ti Ten Shower 7mm), broke the down-stem on Monday(my iPhone fell on the piece and the stem broke. when i went back in they said when my phone fell on it, it caused glass vibrations, causing it to break), went back to get a new stem (sadly) on the same day i broke it. Shelled out another 15$ or so on a replacement stem, only to have it not pulling well when using it. So today (2 days after purchasing a new stem) i go back in there for "a working replacement" only to have it dragged out to the point of frustration and sheer anger over something THEY ("SMOKE ATX") sold me incorrectly to start with. On immediate interaction, and explaining the situation to them, they tried to instantly say "the stem IS a little off, but you'd just need to pack your bowl smaller or purchase a smaller bowl"......UNACCEPTABLE!! I also want to make something clear..... This is literally my first and only negative review ever given on yelp due to the lack of honest human care, sympathy, and at a basic level, understanding for my situation. I am fully aware on their specific policy and other similar ones on products such as these, but if a customer comes in and says YOU sold them an attachment that doesn't work as well as the original they purchased.... you shouldn't make it your mission as the business to try and immediately sell them something else or tell them (directly or otherwise) that they are SOL. Since we are all working American, consumers in this country, its safe to say that ANYTHING, ANYONE decides to buy in a business and they find out it doesn't work correctly (on no fault of their own) they are going to be upset and frustrated. Not taking the time out to respect and under each customer in a situation that could be unique in nature is the reason i will never spend another dollar at this smoke shop. Please learn traditional Business to Client relations Smoke ATX. Due to you making a simple situation of a 15$ item that YOU ALL confirmed wasn't pulling correctly, into one were i had to raise my voice in a public setting. You lost a customer for a 15$ product when you sell majority of things 100+. And also, if they end all be all issue was due to its legality, id love to see you guys demonstrate the "Ti Ten shower 7mm" to your customers with a shitty down-stem in it. read more

Best GLASS shop in town, I emphasize glass because it seems like most places in town are half sex shop, not here. They have everything you could want from the most basic pipes to legitimate high end art pieces, and any accessory you want. The prices are extremely reasonable and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, they have stores in both sides of the river so there's no reason to go back to the sex shops with standoffish employees that also sell glass. read more

There was only one guy who worked there I wasn't crazy about, as I was talking about something after purchasing and he told me to leave already. We (my gf and I) were thoroughly impressed by this place. It's a small smoke shop that packs a big punch! We'd thought we were just about through on our pipe search when we stumbled upon this shop on our way back home. The fragrances upon entering were pleasant and the dim-lit wood-paneled walls fit the scene just right. The staff was friendly right from the start and they made us feel welcomed. We're big into buying local to help the Austin economy and their glass-blowers and small-business owners, so it was great that they had all of their pieces labeled by artist. It's also very cool that they carry tattoo ink and accessories. Overall, these guys take the cake in service, products, and atmosphere. This is my local shop, I've been a customer for years. I've bought the Pax and Pax2, there - both for the same price advertised on the Ploom website. Meanwhile, a store up the street (that still hasn't taken down their "Ron Paul 2012" sign) is charging $70 more for the Pax 2!!!! WTF? The staff is great, friendly, knowledgeable without being snobby, and they have a great selection of glass and vapes. As far as the S. Lamar corridor goes - Smoke ATX is king! I really dig Smoke ATX. I live on the North East side, walking distance from another shop and I still make the trek out here. Even when they are busy, customer service is tops. The bearded dude is awesome (Big D, I think?) but so is everyone else I've dealt with there. They are the only place in Austin that I know of that carries Fumari brand hookah tobacco. They have a huge pipe selection from local blowers, and good local blowers at that. Not some basic, over priced, generic spoon pipes. Real works of art, for sure. So I don't normally write reviews but I felt that in this case it was just necessary. I have been in here about 5 times now. I'm pretty new to this stuff so needless to say I was pretty clueless as to what I was wanting. Every time I went in a man that goes by Biggie was working and just always happened to be available to help me. Biggie really took the time to explain everything to me. He explained good and bad about everything and literally new everything there was to know that I would look at and say, "that's cool what is that?" I highly recommend this place they are guaranteed to have what you need/want and the prices are very fair. I came to this smoke shop on 5-28-16, to get some shisha for my hookah. Due to the fact I herd that had a quite a good selection of Fumari. Well let me tell you that my source did not lead me astray. They had a wide selection of Fumari from double apple to ambrosia (which I pick up). They also had Starbuzz and Al Fakher. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about their products, and help with how to start and set up hookah. I didn't need any help but a group of friend came in who came in right after me didn't know what to do and the staff where more then happy to help them out. Now time for my only complaint. So I got a 100g bag of Fumari Ambrosia which was clearly labeled "Fumari 14.95". Which is more then I would have paid online, but hay Support local shops. So the guy rings me up and it rings up 14.99 when I pointed this out to the guy he argued with me for like a 1 minutes. Until I pointed out the sign that clearly stated "Fumari $14.95" which he then looked and then said oh okay will ill give you 5 cents i was like I don't care about the 5 cents. I just don't like feeling like I'm being cheated. read more

Guy says they are out but have a cheap alternative so I go ahead and buy it cash, and I get no receipt. 5 min later I'm driving by womp smoke shop and decided to check to see if they had the he carb cap. Turns out they do so I head back to atx and ofcourse they won't take it back unused. 10 min after I bought it. It's not a biggy to have 2 but I don't feel like I will ever do any business here again. I can understand not taking it back after its used or after a day or something but this was not the case.
