The rib tips are the best ever, so good I've never even bothered to get them with sauce. The chicken salad is also great. If you're in the area stop by, it's definitely worth it

Great place to eat when in Marks, MS.

Had a huge portion of outstanding rib tips with coleslaw and fried okra for less than $10.

Dixieland BBQ - Rib Plate. Half rack of spare ribs. Beans are Bush's. Certain of it. Nothing wrong with that. I like em.

It took close to an hour to get food. We waited. Weren't even mad about it. At a point you just decide to wait it out once you're vested. Ya know, You just become ok. The sweet lady at the DT window takes one order at a time, rotates and yells it at the kitchen, takes your money, then waits until your food is ready and gives it to you. Then she waits on the next inside person inside repeating the same process. Back and forth from the counter to the DT. Pretty inefficient method that explains the long wait. There can't be much more economical than this. A half rack of ribs and two sides for $14. What the actual fuck? That is insane for March of 2024! A sandwich, side, and a drink for $7?!?!? Anyway. The bbq "meat" itself was pretty good. I had higher hopes for some good all around BBQ but the sauce just glopped it all up man. I didn't like it all and neither did the bride. Ribs were well cooked. Like I said the sauce was bad, and they were covered in it. It has gel like thing about it. It's sweet and like jelly.... Hard to explain. Beans were fair. White bread. Sandwich was impossible to eat as a sandwich. It just mushed under the weight of the copious amounts of jelly sauce and slaw. She just kind of got it in there with the foil it was in If I came back I would ask for no sauce or at least get it on the side. '24 - 25/100

So when I talk about Delta barbecue, I'm coming from a place of love... and pretty high standards. Abe's is part legend, part myth, and all Crossroads. If it's your first visit, let me save you some confusion: yes, the tamales are one of the signature items at a barbecue joint. And yes, they're every bit as good as you've heard. I get mine with chili, slaw, and crackers, and I'll happily eat enough of them to make myself miserable--in the best possible way. Then it's time for a chili cheese dog, a pig sandwich with slaw, and enough sweet tea to float a jon boat. It's probably a good thing I only pass through Clarksdale every couple of months on the drive between New Orleans and my hometown. If I lived closer, my doctor and my waistband would both have something to say about it. This place is famous throughout the Delta for a reason. I've been stopping at Abe's for over three decades, and it has never disappointed.

I had the tamale plate, while my co-worker had the tamales and beans. Service was quick and super friendly, and there's a ton of memorabilia on the walls to look at. I was only the only customer at the bar and the bartender served me my drink and then went to the far end of the bar to look at her phone. It was economical, too, so we had quality food while spending a reasonable amount of money. I had the catfish BLT, which was a simple catfish burger with the most basic ingredients. Yet the catfish itself was so tasty that I didn't even need ketchup or mayo for the burger. It was so seasoned that it definitely made the burger an enjoyable experience. My partner had the kingfish platter which was essentially catfish as well. But then there was a small cup of coleslaw that we both thought was the best we've had, mainly because they didn't use mayo but some kind of vinegar to supplement the taste. And then my partner had the deep fried pecan pie and I had a taste of it. Even though I am not even the biggest fan of pecan pie, I really enjoyed that one and I think it was because the deep fried aspect along with whipped cream complemented the gelatinous material in pecan pies (don't know how to call it). There was music 365 days a week in the club, and particularly we were there during the annual Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Festival, so it was extra special. There were visitors all over the world attending the festival and many great bands played in the club. The amount of mess on the walls in the club speaks to the historically and culturally rich aspect of this club and of this town. Definitely a 5 star experience.
