Delicious food but, I kid you not, my Apple Watch turned yellow and sent me a warning that the noise level would damage my ears. I've never been in a louder restaurant environment in my life. The server Efrin we had took our order for 2 margs, my grandma didn't like the marg so she stopped another server to let her know so she took the one she didn't like and made another bc the current server we had never checked up on us or even came back. So the girl made another, then Efrin brung out our food and never seen him since then. As we went to check out he told my grandma she had 2 margs my grandma said no I didn't like the first so another server made another one and he was getting hostile about it and said next time you'll pay for both. I let him know I'm a server and he did a poor job to even check on us for him to even know then she didn't like it then he said fine you can pay for both and threw the ticket on the counter. And the owner/manger decided to step in and take the marg off but you could definitely tell he condoned his servers to be disrespectful & have shitty service. My grandma was thanking him for taking it off and he ignored her. As a server I'd never. WILL NEVER BE BACK. And on top of it all we have had the server Efrin multiple times and he's always been a shitty server to us and I've always continued to tip well and still gave him the benefit of the doubt maybe bc he was having a bad day? Stopped in to this place because of proximity to my hotel. When you're on the road, you should avoid those fast food joints and this seemed like a nice place to stop in. It seemed like a fair amount of people were in on a Saturday. I only wanted my food to go, so you can do so with the cashier who stands near the entrance. The first thing I noticed that was strange is that there seemed to be way more staff than they needed. Nobody really greeted me when I came in and there were a few people just hanging around and chatting. A different person asked me if I needed a table, if I needed a menu, if I had been attended to yet.. and there was a guy on his cell phone almost the entire time I was waiting. The cashier seemed to be working 5x as hard as anyone else. Taking orders on the phone, taking people's payment, making decisions on placement of Xmas decorations and signage.. but others just pacing back and forth, seemingly without tasks. The food hit the spot. It's not exactly the same as I am used to, but it is really 'roll-your-sleeves-up' sort of messy, like a garbage plate. Which is great. But the price was a little bit unbelievable. I don't know what prices are like in this town, but it well exceeds an equivalent in Chicago and matches even NYC or Seattle prices. We evacuated to Batesville from New Orleans before hurricane Ida hit. Both of us were looking forward to tasty comfort food in the form of a good and familiar Mexican dinner. We chose Cafe Olé and were not disappointed. Nice vibe, friendly and quick service, lots of choices on the menu and we happened to go there during the happy hour of Margarita Monday so fun was had by all. On top of it being exactly what we were looking for we were grateful and surprised when our wait person told us they had comped our meal. Yep, they're getting 5 stars. You know why? Cafe Ole is the only restaurant and BAR open on Sunday nights in this little town. I spent the weekend in Batesville and it happen to fall over Super Bowl weekend. Come to find out, Oxford is DRY on Sunday's to include establishments that serve food. Well, guess what not in Batesville! I met Edgar the bartender at Cafe Ole and a couple locals (Stephen & Brad). We enjoyed Super Bowl 47 together while drinking beer and shots (equal parts Jamesson, Peach Schnapps, and Red Bull). The local State Farm Agent Ray Poole Jr. recommended Cafe Ole for their steaks and he was CORRECT! The steaks are awesome! I ordered the 16oz. ribeye with loaded baked potato and salad with ranch. GREAT MEAL! I highly recommend Cafe Ole, but where else are you going to find an open bar, friendly staff, and killer steak on Sundays in Mississippi? read more

I ate lunch here today (8/13/22) with 8 other folks from both my church and a local church. I have eaten at Mexican restaurants in many different cities and states, but the food at this one was some of the best I've had! The tortilla chips were warm and crispy, the salsa was thick and had just the right spice, and my fajita quesadilla with chicken was cooked to perfection...the vegetables were tender like I like them and the seasoning on the chicken was delicious. The service was good considering our fairly large group; they kept us refilled with fresh chips and salsa and drinks until our food arrived. Well normally we enjoy a night out of chips and salsa and margaritas but we were pretty grossed out tonight. We witnessed the bar tender dumping what was left of frozen margaritas that were returned, back into the dispenser. Not once but three times. We will not be back. read more

Batesville didn't strike us as a promising dinner location, but since we were spending the night there, we didn't have much choice. There's a strip of chain restaurants near the I-55 entrance, including a Cracker Barrel and Chili's. We opted to try a non-chain restaurant and settled on Cafe Ole, mainly due to the fact that there were tons of cars in the parking lot. The meal got off to a great start - a huge basket of freshly made (still warm) tortilla chips and an entire mini-carafe of salsa. I love that they gave everyone an individual dish for salsa...I could finally double dip! The dishes were mainly Tex-Mex in nature (lots of tacos, quesadillas, fajitas etc) and in a uniquely Southern twist, many came with a side of fries (?!) The food was quite good though - huge portions and a tad greasy, but oh-so-delicious. I couldn't finish half of my fajita (which at $10 seemed like a steal). Though I'm not sure anyone makes a special trip to stay in Batesville, if you do find yourself here, try Cafe Ole! read more

I liked this place the service was fast and the food was good. I has a burrito and it came with no dairy and sauce on the size. In a town this size I was surprised by the amount of choices so I'm glad that I picked this one. A few other things was a very healthy looking parking lot and they take AMEX. Which I really like. Not my highest rating but right up there and as a traveler I love to eat at clean places that offer better options than deep fried foods. read more

Let me tell y'all something. I have had Cheesy chicken and rice from about 30+ different locations. And Cafe Ole hands down has the best. On top of that, the staff there treats you like you've been best friends since high school! Sometimes they play rock music in the bar area which really messes up the vibe for me. But fear not. The hostess always knows to sit us in the middle section where I can only hear the mariachi music. Also, their sweet tea is pretty bomb. I recommend asking for Lime to garnish. read more

A group of friends and I went in about 8:30-9 last Friday. We all ordered the same- cheesy chicken and rice. When it got to the table, the cheese seemed to be room temperature and not runny like normal hot cheese dip is. Great Mexican food with a very friendly staff. The margaritas are cheap and the salsa yummy. The beef fajita nachos are my personal favorite option here. I also love that you can get fresh avocados with your meal. My only issue is the guacamole which is just prepackaged and boring so please avoid it. read more

If this is the highest rated Mexican option in Batesville....there is a problem. Service is okay...my waiter was visible when needed and checked in on me a few times during the meal. But the food....meh. I didn't leave hungry but $8.50 for one vegetable quesadilla and about 1/4 cup of beans is a little steep. Plus, it was pretty greasy. Batesville was a rest-over, not destination, and as we were at the point of returning home from a road-trip, we were no longer seeking specific food for our dinner. We already had enjoyed many wonderful seafood meals along the Gulf. We made our restaurant choice by number of cars in lot (as previous reviewer mentioned). Cafe Ole was a wonderful choice. The prices were so reasonable and the food was plentiful, delicious and quickly served. I would recommend this place to anyone! I checked with the waiter to see if the enchiladas were corn tortillas (as I always think they should be) rather than flour. He said yes so it told me there is authenticity there. The tamale was delicious, as well. The food is not highly seasoned, so you might want to request a little heat perhaps when ordering, but the flavor still was wonderful. Only one minimal negative - my husb ordered a relleno and was a little surprised it was still cold in the middle. I'm sure if he had mentioned it, something would have been done, so it was up to us.
