Smoke's Poutinerie has, generally speaking, amazing poutines. I first had a bacon one in a hockey arena. Tried the bacon cheeseburger, the pulled pork, the double pulled pork and the Perogy at the arena. All five stars. At the arena, the fries were crispy and fresh. I think I go to the arena to just have their poutines. I like this chain in general. However, had I tasted Smokes Poutinerie today for the first time, I would not be such a fan of this chain. Today, At this square one location, I ordered the chicken bacon ranch. It's a bit sour and is sincerely disappointing. The portion remains huge, but the quality is lacking. The fries were soggy! I always loved the fact that I get crispness on the outside and creamy on the inside type of fries. It looked good when I opened the box, but once you mix it, you realize halfway down the toppings were sparse. The gravy was not plentiful. The cheese was almost nonexistent, just a little drizzle on top. I tasted ranch on top but not gravy. No gravy and the fries are soggy? It features French fries, cheese curds, peas, Poutine Gravy, stuffing, turkey, and cranberry sauce (I personally remove this vile substance). The gentleman working the counter at this location was great, friendly, and had us ordering and eating in no time. The poutine was absolutely incredible and I couldn't of asked for a batter batch. It was smoke (pun intended) ing hot when it was served and tasted absolutely delicious. Am I a Smoke's Poutinerie fanboy? Maybe, but when a place consistently makes fast, enjoyable Poutine I just can't help it. This was our first time ever trying Smokes Poutinerie and we were not impressed. We arrived around 11:00 PM and we walked in right behind a party of four. While we waited we noticed there appeared to only be one person working the entire store. Once he took their order he went back to the kitchen to start work on their order. He returned a few minutes later to take our order. After placing our order we took a seat and noticed the one lonely employee head to the back again to finish the other customers' food and start ours. About 20 minutes later and after feeding meter some more coins our food was ready. I had the Triple Pork ($10.49) which had Chipotle Pulled Pork, Double Smoked Bacon, and Italian Sausage. After the long wait, I took my first bite and was so underwhelmed, the meats just tasted microwaved and very artificially flavored. The fries were very hot and fresh but everything in the dish was just not good. My wife also ordered a poutine dish that sounded very good but when she got it and tried it, she felt the same as I did. I feel bad for the lonely employee who was to work here alone at nights, seems like a bad customer service decision and also a safety concern. We will defiantly not return. read more

Don't judge it from the outside as until you walk into it, you'll see how nice it is! I almost missed it because there are so many different places to eat on the same sidewalk as well. It was a rainy day and I wanted some comfort food so I decided to check it out. That being said, I sat outside as the staff are really nice and helpful and immediately greeted me and helped fulfill my request, to sit outside and eat. Very dissapointed first with the bad and rude service by the cashier girl we just came back from there we went today August 13 at 7pm, we ordered 2 meal poutines well first of all she did not serve enough cheese on the poutines very little cheese on it and the fries were very burn and hard not good quality at all, and when I made the claim and ask she refused to fix I asked her to call the manager she said manager was not there. I wanted to leave and return those meals but I had already paid and she did not want to return my money. Also when the cashier charged me for the order before above unconfortable moment she had given me the option to grab the drink with the meal, then once the meal was ready she gave me the drink with the meal and after when I went back to her to claim for the bad and poor quality of the poutines she meant to said she was already very nice because she gave me the drink before I paid she meant to say I had not paid for the coke this which really offend me and my family because I had already prepaid for everything before the order was ready. I asked her to please check the cameras I even told her I can show her the charge on my debit card, then she reliazed I was right. I don´t know why she forgot that but this was too much for me, it is unaceptable to have a doubt on the customer specially when we were right, so she did not change or fix our meals and also was putting wrong allegations, very bad person behind the counter she should not be working there. DON´T COME TO THIS PLACE BETTER TO GO TO OTHER PLACE, NEVER THIS ONE, POOR QUALITY AND VERY POOR AND RUDE SERVICE. This was my first time trying poutine! This place is on a very busy corner and there's not an easy place to find parking. We were dropped off to pick up a to-go order. Ironically, a fitness gym is located next door. The staff there is so nice! We ordered a small one just to try it, but perhaps since it was late and there were a few of us, they gave us a free upgrade. All I can say is, it's about everything you've dreamed cheese curds and gravy would taste like! It's quite a heavy meal and makes a glorious snack. They had quite a few flavors, but we went for classic since it's our first taste of poutine. For seating, it's a small place but there adequate spots for groups of any size. I grew up eating Costco poutine in the food court while trying to find which cashier my mom was at, but my friend told me I had to try some "real poutine" and so here we are. First of all, location - it's easy to find and conveniently next to Square One but there's no free parking around unless you're willing to walk like 10 minutes. It's okay if you have someone with you and can drop them off to quickly buy & go, but if you're alone it's a pain. Plaza is pretty new so everything is clean and spacious and modern. The actual poutine, I found good but not mind-blowingly fantastic enough to deserve the $15 price tag. We ordered the normal poutine; I like keeping it OG at first try. The best thing was the texture - the fries and cheese curds are super chewy. Portion size (we upsized) is solid, definitely enough for 2 people, but there isn't enough gravy and near the end of the poutine experience we ran out of cheese. The gravy was good; subtle and richer in flavour instead of the super artificial type gravy I've had elsewhere. All in all, it's a solid poutine; good cheese, good fries, and okay gravy. The flavours go together well, but since it's nothing insanely good or new, in my opinion, it's not really worth the high price. read more

Took 35 minutes, off-peak when nobody was at the location, for what was supposed to be 5 orders (even when our bag was sealed, we asked if all the orders were in there to which the apathetic worker pulled out all of the receipts to confirm they were there) and one order was missing when we arrived home. The quality was terrible relatively speaking and I love Smokes but this location is disgraceful. If the owners of this Smokes had any decorum they would get in touch with me to refund the missing order. PS we ordered butter chicken and got deep-fried cauliflower. I saw that Smokes had recently opened in the area and decided to check it out. After looking at the menu I got a Jerk Chicken Poutine to go since it was something new . The poutine came in a box with a decent amount of meat and toppings, fries, gravy and cheesecurds. The Jerk Chicken had a good smoky taste to it and was soft. I feel there was too much salt in the fries. My recco would be to order whatever poutine you want lite cheese curds, gravy and either lite or no salt . It will just be more pleasant. OMG, so I've never had poutine before this is an incredible snack, very filling. Who would of thought putting gravy on French fries would be good. To tell you the truth I was not looking forward to having my fries covers with gravy. You've guessed it, it's delicious I definitely will have them again. I had the traditional while my kids took the more adventurous route chili cheese bacon and triple pork. Took a couple of bites of both, and you guessed it excellent. So good that my son wants to have it for breakfast. If you ever get a chance to try poutine or the Poutinerie go ahead you will not be disappointed. read more

4/5 times my order is messed up, mostly because of the quality of their fries. I get it, potato skins can add flavour, but not in your case. I always get the tiny edges of the potato and they're either burned, bitter, or both. Imagine having Smoke's toppings on McDonald's fries -- that would be insanely good. Recommended to eat here. This was by far the best place to eat nearby. The food is poutine, and there are many choices of different styles. Simply amazing. Now this is filling food, will leave you full, and has a full flavor taste for whichever poutine you choose. The only drawback is the amount of salt in the meal, specifically the gravy. I have never in my life had unseasoned chicken breast before and have somebody call it "jerk chicken" it was tasteless and all (which wasn't a lot) of the toppings were on the top of the fries and then there was NO gravy from the middle all the way to the bottom. We got the "WOW" size and the portions didn't match. There were only 2 peppers on it and NO cheese. We basically paid for fries and gravy. The veggie poutine was terrible. There was very little gravy and only a few cheese curds. I don't understand how they are still in business. After my first experience at this location, I can confidently say it was my last. Came in around 8-9pm with a friend, we both ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Poutine. First off the "steak" is microwaved dog food basically, mushrooms and red peppers come straight out of the can and the only thing they prepared in house was the caramelized onions which required 2 employees to prepare for some reason. We were 2 of 6 people in the entire store at the time and we had ordered first. Despite ordering the same item my friend received his order 10min after mine and after the rest of the people that had ordered after us. I can only assume they forgot about his order. There were 4-5 employees at the time, HORRIBLE customer service. Lazy, uninterested and extremely unprofessional attitudes. Only one person was working at what I would say 50% effort and the rest gossiping about their personal lives, In front of the customers and after they had clearly forgotten my friends order (If they put a fraction of the focus and effort in their JOBS rather than standing around I'm sure they wouldn't forget 1 of the 6 orders they had to prepare). Aside from the poor quality of food they serve it would at least be tolerable if it was prepared properly and served with a smile. Entire staff needs to be changed or re-trained and taught some basic manners and customer service. Better off having a poutine from McDonald's or Burger King than this place. read more
