    chicken wings and carrots

Some very good wings if you come here. There were 20+ flavors options to choose from, i got a buffalo hot and Lemmon pepper Parmesan. Wings were good sized, crispy, and juicy. Service was very good given only two waiters. The only down side was it's very "divey ", tables and floors were quite sticky. But excluding that the food was phenomenal. I would definitely come back just for the wings. 7.0/10

Heck yeah! A bar lunch. Sometimes I'm in the mood and got the time! . They've got pool going on mid-afternoon. Hard to find a bar stool--full here. Good hot food. Chili just right spicy. Philly Steak and onion rings yummy. Great service from very busy beautiful waitress. Wow the selection of beer!!

This was a pretty good place! Service was great, very nice waitress. There is a large seating area and pool tables on one side of the bar. The wings were great and the fries too (not pictured)! I tried the Honey BBQ and the flavor was great, the wings tasted fresh. I also really liked the ranch they used. The fries were thin and perfectly crispy. If I wanted wings and was in the area, I would definitely stop here! Price was also reasonable.

A bunch of us wanted to go to bar hang out and shoot some pool, we stopped here. For me it's a nice little bar to hang out have a few drinks and get a little crazy, perfect place. Service was fast drinks were good. Friendly people all around. Didn't try the food. I'd go back and hang out for more laughs.

Nice to see pool tables again!!

I will only hesitate on the last star for a rating, because it took a little while for the food to come out and the place wasn't all that busy at the time that we were there; and the BLT I ordered was rather flaccid and difficult to handle. I asked that the sandwich be toasted, and they decided to grill-toast it, and I have learned from experience that grill toasting a BLT means that it's not going to be as firm and therefore it's a little more difficult to handle. My wife ordered the "Taco Wrap," and she told me that it was "so full of meat that it was a lot of sandwich to eat," but that's not necessarily a negative. There were about a dozen people in the bar, and maybe two tables with parties of three or four, and the waitress herself told us that there are other times when it is "way worse" in terms of the number of people that are desiring service. She was the only one behind the bar, but the bar was clean and the bar area was clean. There was quite a selection of beers (although I asked for a Coors extra gold and they didn't have that). There were two different Irish beers at least, available (Which seems appropriate since it's an Irish bar and the permittee is "O'Reilly.") Anyway the onion rings were good and it was interesting to see sweet potato fries on the menu.

Half Thai Chili & Half Garlic Parmesan! DELISH!

The boneless chicken wings are BIG! I accidentally ordered 8 of them with a side of Cole slaw for dinner & I realized 3-4 would've been plenty. I ordered the Garlic Parmesan & Thai Chili flavors. I could only finish 1.5 of each plus 4-5 bites of Cole slaw & I was completely FULL. The flavors were both great. The Thai chili had a sweet hot flavor to it. The Garlic Parmesan was heavily dusted with most Parmesan. The side order of Cole slaw is a full pint and was fresh, creamy & delicious. I definitely want to try their Burgers based on the rave reviews here. The staff was friendly, pleasant, helpful & very efficient. The bartender took my phone order & as soon as I walked in, went over to the counter to bring them over to me with the receipt. The inside is a typical darkly lit bar with lots of high top tables, a pool table, neon signs, and I think a juke box. The music is audible but not too loud to drown out conversation. They have lots of flat screen TVs showing the latest sports teams playing. It's a bit of a time machine: very much an 80's style bar. But it clearly works based on the great reviews here. It's an very informal bar to come with a few friends & grab a beer & a burger. ENJOY!

Had ribs and mashed potatoes. The ribs were incredibly tough, barely warm, and the potatoes were like sawdust. Threw it away.

We went for an early seating yesterday and bravely brought our 8 month old. This was already a bold ask because this restaurant doesn't scream children but port of call took it with stride. We were accommodated with a highchair and several staff stopped to say hi to our baby. (For his part, our baby was relatively chill although a loud babbler, and no tears which we would call a win). Now onto the product. Absolutely phenomenal. We were wowed from start to finish. Every single drink, dish, and dessert far exceeded our expectations. The happy hour menu is very generously priced and had several favorites off the actual menu, as well as some items which I believe are available all the time. Our server (I'm very sorry I can't think of his name) was fantastic and offered excellent recommendations to like drinks on the current menu based on drinks we said we usually steer towards. Every drink (we had 4 different ones) absolutely knocked it out of the park. This would be an awesome spot for cocktails and apps with friends but is also a superb full service date night spot. We can't (and won't) stop raving about port of call!!!

Half Keg Tavern is a historic neighborhood tavern that opened in New London, Connecticut in 1946…read more The tavern is housed inside a converted Quonset hut, which was likely picked up cheaply at the conclusion of World War II. The Half Keg stands out from other Connecticut drinking establishments in that it is technically a tavern as opposed to a bar. What's the difference? Bars can serve just about anything (including hard liquor), whereas taverns (once known as "public houses" back when residents were still British subjects) are places that can serve only beer, wine, cider, and food if they choose. At the time the Half Keg opened, there were maybe 700 taverns in Connecticut. Today, less than 10 Connecticut drinking establishments operate under a tavern license. A number of different owners have come and gone at the Half Keg, including longtime owners Ron & Maryann DiNoto. Since October 2016, the Half Keg has been owned and operated by Teresa Stomberg and her son David Donatello. The tavern serves a variety of domestic and foreign beer as well as a food menu of fresh handcrafted burgers, grinders, and a variety of bar bites. I recently visited the Half Keg for lunch while I was in the New London area. I arrived not long after they opened for the day. I pulled up a seat at the bar and began to peruse the menu. I first ordered a plate of "Fried Pickles", which were on the specials menu that day. Served with a dipping sauce, they were hot, crispy and very flavorful. I washed them down with a draught pour of Samuel Adams' "Summer Ale". Afterwards, I ordered a "Garlic & Onion Burger" (garlic & onion seasoned burger on a a garlic-buttered roll, slice of raw onion, lettuce, tomato) with a side of "Hand Cut Seasoned Fries". Don't expect anything particularly fancy here. It's just good, old-fashioned home cooking. No frills, no fuss; just fresh ingredients and good flavor! I washed my burger and fries down with a draught pour of Two Roads Brewing's "Two Juicy" (Double New England IPA). That lunch really hit the spot. I'd be interested in trying out one of their grinders on a return trip. If you're in the mood for a good sports game paired with a cold beer, good food, and the company of friendly locals, then head to the Half Keg!

I have struggled with whether to write this review because this has become one of our favorite…read morelocal restaurants over the last year. In fact, one of the reasons we kept coming back was because this was one of the very few local restaurants that I believed truly understood celiac disease and took gluten-free dining seriously. However, as someone with celiac disease, I feel a responsibility to share my experience because what I have encountered goes far beyond a one-time mistake. Several months ago, we ordered takeout and I tested three separate items that were represented as gluten-free: tacos, a wedge salad, and a pop tart dessert. Most was already naturally gluten free. All three tested positive for gluten. These tests are not cheap, costing approximately $12 each, so this was not something I did lightly. I contacted the restaurant and spoke directly with the head chef. She was professional, understanding, and seemed genuinely concerned. She thanked me for bringing it to her attention and even mentioned that she planned to order a test herself because she could not understand how those items would contain gluten. Because of that conversation, I chose not to leave a review. I genuinely believed the issue would be investigated and corrected, and I wanted to give the restaurant the opportunity to make things right. Unfortunately, a later visit resulted in a positive gluten test on the smoked fish appetizer. Most recently, I returned again and tested several items. The calamari tested negative, but my gluten-free tacos once again tested positive for gluten. At this point, I have simply been glutened one too many times by a restaurant that I genuinely wanted to trust. What makes this especially difficult is that this restaurant presents itself as understanding celiac disease. I was told that members of the restaurant's family, including a daughter, have celiac disease. Hearing that gave me confidence that gluten-free orders would be taken seriously and that proper precautions would be in place. That is what makes these repeated positive gluten tests so confusing and disappointing. When a restaurant claims to understand celiac disease, I expect more than simply offering gluten-free menu items. I expect systems that actually prevent gluten contamination. After multiple positive gluten tests across multiple visits and after bringing my concerns directly to management months ago, it is difficult for me to reconcile those claims with my actual experiences. During my most recent visit, the waitress was kind and helpful, and I appreciate the way she handled the situation. However, I was told that a manager would come speak with me, and no manager ever did. My tacos were removed because they tested positive for gluten, yet I was still charged for them after deciding to take them home (for my non celiac hubby) rather than have them thrown away. In the end, I received a discount, but only after spending nearly $50 on gluten tests during that visit alone. As I write this, I am sitting here sad, frustrated, and in pain, knowing exactly what the next couple of weeks are likely going to look like for me. People often do not see what happens after someone with celiac disease is exposed to gluten. We do not go into anaphylaxis in the restaurant. We go home and suffer through the consequences alone. The symptoms may not be immediately visible to others, but the physical toll is very real. Every restaurant can make a mistake. My concern is not a single mistake. My concern is a repeated pattern over multiple visits, over several months, after the issue was brought directly to the restaurant's attention. I truly wanted to continue supporting this restaurant. I truly wanted to be able to recommend it to others in the celiac community. Unfortunately, after repeated positive gluten tests, repeated gluten exposures, and no evidence that the underlying problem has been corrected, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone with celiac disease or anyone who requires a truly gluten-free meal for medical reasons.
