For apps we both had New England homemade chowder .....the biggest bowl of perfect soup I've ever had....... For entree I had the avocado blt sandwhich with the 8 oz medium rare burger patty. if I could give this place a zero "enter at own risk" I would. I went in with my family, a group of 9 including 4 children and a baby. Not only did we witness our waitress chug a drink with customers in-front of us at a different table while we sat waiting for our food just for her to tell us "the kitchen is backed up" excusing our meals being late - which we never received until leaving and getting it "on the house" for the staffs behavior. BUT the kicker was the fight that broke out with a customer swearing and being escorted out by staff AND kitchen staff AT 8PM! Women and staff fighting openly in the bar area and parking lot. Everyone working and customers was beyond drunk in this bar - besides us. The bar had no spiced rum of any sort "they ran out" or flatbread pizza - an entire section of their menu. A local regular (who did NOT work there) apologized for the staffs behavior - repeating "it's on the house" after we decided to leave after waiting for over an hour and half with no service. We received one round of drinks, (second drink received after going to the bar and asking ourselves for service) and an appetizer plate - for 9 people. @Jon_Taffer should check this place out for a bar rescue because he would be horrified! read more

I want to give this place 5 stars so bad but I can't because of the atmosphere. Our waitress was amazing & the food was DELICIOUS! Unfortunately, it was more of a biker bar/ pub. My boyfriend & I sat outside because inside was noisy. A little into our meal a group of 6 sat outside and they were non stop swearing & yelling making it super unpleasant. The food and cocktails are way too good for the bar vibe that it is. Either way, I highly suggest ordering from there- if loud bars & drunk people are your thing then eat there, if not get it to go. We started with 2 cocktails which were amazing. My boyfriend & I both got stuffies and they were cooked perfect and tasted great. I ordered angel hair Alfredo with crispy chicken because someone else posted that on here & it was the best Alfredo I've ever had. My boyfriend got the lobster roll special with homemade kettle chips. He was so impressed. The food selection is excellent! The waitress was very nice and attentive. They had quite a bit of food choices for my Vegan son which is unusual but much appreciated!! It's hard to find food options for him in a restaurant. All of our food was excellent. The place is very clean including the bathroom . It was a bit on the cold side, I. Would avoid sitting up front near the doors in the winter. And bear in mind through they had vegan burgers and patty's they didn't have any vegan bread at all so just be aware abs plan to use lettuce instead unless they add something to their bread choices. They have the absolute BEST clam fritters here. I got a bowl of New England Style Clam Chowder, and it came with 3 large fritters. The chowder was delicious; some of the best I've had. The fritters had large pieces of clams inside. I couldn't believe how many clams were in the fritters. Most places where you get fritters you have to search for the clams, and some don't even have clams. Uncle Kranky's doesn't skimp on their food. The portions were good sized. My friend ordered the pastrami sandwich. She is allergic to dairy, and they even had dairy free butter to toast her bread with. She said her sandwich was delicious. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They treated us like great friends. For parking, there is an empty lot across the street. We would really recommend Uncle Kranky's if you're looking for a great meal. You won't be disappointed. read more

Interesting What can we say about Kranky's? It's loud and crowd is definitely locals. You can tell they rule this place. We didn't eat here so this is a short review. I have heard good things about the food, but it was late and the kitchen was closed. We whacked down a couple of mixers, they were strong, which is plus. Let's start by saying that the staff is super friendly and make you feel welcome right away!! Our server was very efficient snd super nice. Great bar area and full bar with lots of specialty cocktails, sangria etc. we went on a Friday for the prime rib and it was delicious!! Tender and juicy! Baked potato, fresh crispy salad, green beans all very good. Nice choices on the menu so there's something for everyone. Steak, pasta, sandwiches etc. we definitely will be back to try some other items. Place is not huge but roomy enough, and very low key but comfortable atmosphere. If you like wings, cold beer, friendly down home people and the Becky and Franks sassy group of bartenders then you are going to love Uncle Krankies in Jewett City. Yeah, I said it....Jewett City. Brought my two kids in there last week with my nephews daughter and the people were great and the owner and both bartenders came over to say hi. Really nice find before visiting the College Mart Flea Market. A latish lunch. This is a bar, but super chill and friendly on a Sunday afternoon with a separate dining area if you don't want to sit in the bar section. But the bar has plenty af tables, with families eating. The menu is huge for a small place, lots of homemade soups and other stuff, deli sandwiches, burgers and entrees. They have prime rib, maybe only on Friday? Waitress was outstanding.
