Wrote a review when i moved in a year ago... updating it now. I was warned long ago that when you turn in your notice to leave the barn will retaliate. And I can attest that even when leaving in good standings, paying an extra month and following the rules... you get access restricted and treated like a criminal. Suggestion for anyone leaving: don't give notice. Pay what is due the day you take your horse and don't leave anything behind once you trailer your horse out. You will not be allowed back in once horse is gone, even if you are paid thru the month (or more). Indoor and Outdoor arena, 4 feedings a day, daily turnout when i first moved in, for 3 hours a day. Then pastures were shut down for 8 weeks and horses only got 15-20 minutes a day on a hot walker. Started looking for a new place at that point. Has access to trails, 3 wash racks, trainers and trainer access, and respectful friends to horse with! There are soooo very many rules, and I get that, for a shared space. Owners watch the cameras like a hawk and can be very petty and malicious. read more

Great arenas, indoor and out. Paddocks are WET with standing water in the winter - deep sand in the summer. There is no bedding provided for the rubber mats inside the paddock stall enclosures. Pastures are great in the summer but over used in the winter and become mud slick danger zones. The access to trails is to Farrell McWhirter Park (1 loop) and to the Powerline Trail (not the Tolt Pipeline). The boarders were nice and friendly. 2 great covered wash racks out by the paddocks but if the boarders don't clean them they are nasty. Do not recommend boarding there - the owner is a nightmare and has a habit of treating people worse and worse until they leave instead of having open honest conversations to rectify any differences. read more

Smokey Wood Farm is a lovely facility 6 months of the year. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The stalls in the main barn are light, airy and clean. The same is true for the 7 stall barn. The trainers Meagan Chagnon, Jennifer Johnson and Shannon Peavy are excellent. The other boarders were friendly and fun. The manure management is great as it is hauled off site. There are lovely trails behind the farm. The indoor arena is well kept. So what is the but??? Two things. The turnout is hideous and muddy even by PNW standards. Unacceptable. The second HUGE con is the owner Stacey DiNuzzo. Horse farm owners are notorious for being difficult but she sets a new bar for that. I was warned by many in the horse community to avoid this place at all costs because of her but I didn't listen. As a result, I'm out thousands of dollars, experienced incredible stress trying to get my horses what they needed and am sorry I ever crossed paths with this money hungry nightmare. Don't be fooled by the slick website and friendly initial greeting. Just stay away. Seriously. read more

We are posting this review from an anonymous account for fear of retaliation. As you can see on other reviews, anyone who criticizes Stacey and Joe Dinuzzo's methods after falling victim to their deceit is publicly attacked and bullied. Stacey will say "this person was never a customer", or "this person shouldn't have a horse", or "they're hiding because they lack accountability", and those are the kindest words she will use. We have personally witnessed Stacey and Joe lie to clients, to the public, and to law enforcement with fervor. We have seen horses be denied food despite clear veterinary instructions to feed more and put weight on a horse. We have seen horses being given moldy hay not suitable for any animal to ingest, coincidentally after an owner gave their notice. We have done adequate investigation into what our animals were being fed, so we can back up this claim. Our animals were put on stall rest for six weeks so her pastures could grow, with a promised 30 minutes of hand walking or time on the eurociser. This has been timed more accurately at 10 to 15 minutes. After six weeks of no turnout (we were all advertised 6 hours daily), Stacey announced she was closing her doors due to a new business partnership. She charged everyone full board during this time ($1400-1600) despite knowing she was not bringing the pastures back for us and our horses, but rather for her own gain. We have watched Stacey and Joe delete clients' gate codes without warning or reason, citing her thirteen-page contract and code of conduct, "Gate codes are a privilege that can be taken away if a boarder is not in good standing", (a contract and code that she fails to follow herself). Many of us have also witnessed her manipulating people and telling them she will lock them off the property and not allow them to remove their horses unless they pay a month's board in advance -- this is not legal, nor is it ethical. She takes advantage of people not knowing their legal rights, and uses this to intimidate people into paying fees that they do not yet owe. She has demanded veterinary records from clients, refusing to follow owner instructions without this invasion of privacy. She has also repeated offenses that have caused horses to become ill, or worsen injuries, with no regard for the consequences. We really wanted to keep this short and sweet and to the point, so that it would be an easy read for potential clients (who deserve an accurate representation of what they are getting into). Unfortunately, the list of offenses is long (we could add so much more, but we will spare you) and we have to say that we are not sad to see Smokey Wood closing its doors. Surely, it was once a lovely place to be, but we have not had that experience during our time there. read more

Smokey Wood Farms was intended to be our wedding venue this summer. We had a contract that gave us use of the venue for a Friday-Sunday period in July. COVID struck, and the first offense was them removing the farmhouse from the contract with only a $300 refund. This farmhouse, which sleeps up to 8, was intended to be the location of our rehearsal dinner Friday, where the groomsmen slept the night before the wedding, got ready Saturday morning, and slept Saturday night. When the governor deemed it illegal and unsafe to host weddings of larger sizes, the only option Smokey Wood Farms offered us was the same date the following year, despite the force majeure clause of the contract that should have permitted us to cancel. Considering we are in our mid-30's and starting a family, this was not ideal but we felt we had no other choice. We requested a new contract that addressed the change in dates, but received no response from the venue. We tried email, text, and phone calls, but they did not respond. To make matters worse, we were disappointed to later discover that other couples in contract received their deposits back. Additionally, Stacey DiNuzzo of Smokey Wood Farms has publicly and falsely accused us of demanding our deposit back because "we were doing IVF," making our private family planning very public, which was not only petty, but also something she had no right to do. We pleaded with her because we had already lost so much money on a wedding we never got to have. I wonder how she herself would have felt if not only her wedding got canceled, but she also lost over $20,000 paying for a venue and caterer that never provided their service as promised. If you're looking for professional, reliable and genuine people to manage one of the most important days of your life, I'd highly suggest looking elsewhere. The wedding industry shouldn't be surviving off the backs of couples trying to get married. read more

The grounds are beautiful and horses are kind and nice, we took lessons there for several months the owners or operators of the facility are just not on par with customer service. We stayed because we liked the trainer but she has recently left and it's just gotten worse. When we started we were told we could get make up lessons, then later told we couldnt due to horses being over worked, then double booking our slots or attempting to move our standing session; finally on our last lesson we arrive after driving over an hour for them to tell us we cancelled due to not signing up for the following month they have away our last session of the month to someone who would be continuing. uhhh what? no communication, rude tone and very unfriendly when we had questions. wouldn't recommend for your kids or self to work with. read more

Smokey Wood and their staff were nothing short of lovely and super responsive when my fiance and I were searching for venues. Stacey was super quick to respond and exceptionally gracious. The venue is beautiful and an ideal spot for a summer wedding. read more
