My buddy and I stopped for dinner after a day of fishing. The place was nearly deserted. My Club sub sandwich was OK, edible but not memorable. My buddy ordered chicken wings and claims they were the worst wings he has ever had. Sauce is straight from a bottle, and not a very good bottle. Bone in wings were oddly shaped, but maybe that is because the breading was so thick. Server was inexperienced and brought another round even though we had declined. Not a great experience, do not plan to return. read more

I went with a couple for lunch. We sat down and my friend went to the men's room. A male employee came out of the stall and walked out without washing his hands. My friend quietly informed the hostess/cashier, who couldn't care less and continued on with her work. Needless to say, we left without ordering. I will not go back. read more

Told us we were very lucky we came in when we did, it was 3:15 or there abouts, and that they going to be slammed, I thought coslaw always came with fish dinners, but would be charged extra for that but, a diner salad came with order at no extra price. French fries were soggy and shrimp was like a salad shrimp size, 7.00 for a half glass of wine and beer was 3.25 for first one and 2.75 for 2nd one. Boneless chix wings were chix tenders, dipping sauce was forgotten, till half way thru with meal, sever needs to calm down she is too jumpy and forgets things. By the way I can get Berringer white zin for 7.00 ... will not be back....this use to be a great place but new owners need to step up to the plate !!! read more

This is the best place to grab a beer and pizza around Hubbard Lake (which isn't saying a ton since it's one of the only places still open). The pizza is really great and the other food is definitely acceptable. The atmosphere is the standard "up north" vibe with old cafe style chairs and tables and a decent size bar. They have Karaoke some nights and they're always fairly busy. Great place to stop in if you're looking for a drink and some eats when staying at the lake. read more

My family and I really enjoy coming to Smokeys when we come up to our cottage. We all love the Onion Rings hand made really can tell the quality, but for some reason they changed to frozen store bought Onion Rings. Please go back! We stopped in here and the food is super great. Best food we found in the area hands down. The homemade cheese sticks are to die for. My wife had fish and chips and myself a fish sandwich. Both was unbelievable food and the price was reasonable as well. If you in the area don't this jewel. I am not a person that eats out much as I am a good cook myself and can usually cook better then most restaurants but not here. It was a pleasure to eat here. read more

Great spot for watching a game with friends. The drinks are very reasonably priced and the staff was very friendly. We had the "Garbage Can" pizza which includes pretty much every pizza topping known to man =D. Great- but unfortunately it took nearly two hours to be served. This might have just been are fluke off day for them since it was the Monday after a holiday weekend but it was a bit annoying since we were famished. The server was very apologetic and if not for her amiable disposition, I'm not sure we would have waited that long. Overall, worth swinging by for a very casual and laid back atmosphere. read more

Always a favorite - but has improved dramatically over the years. Menu is great. Food is better. Yes, during peak summer weekends you will need to wait but it is worth it. We go to Smokey's on Monday nights for Happy Meals. Burger, handful of fries and a beer for $5. Can't beat that! It's always good. Sometimes the service can be slow if it's super busy--but that's understandable. I heard the pizza is good and I have the onion rings and they were awesome too! read more

Stopped by August 19th in the afternoon. There were six of us and we were hungry. We were greeted by Edie and she took our order right away. I had a burger and onion rings and others ordered patty melts and coneys. The food was great and the hit was the onion rings. They were really home made! I definitely will stop back again. read more

Don't order the ribs. The first time I had them, they were tender, juicy, and delicious. The next time they were awful. Very dry and tough. I tried them one more time for a best two out of three and they were the worst yet. Dryer and tougher. I complained on a local FB site and got feeble excuses from two of the owners. They expressed zero commitment to preventing future occurrences. They have other good things, fried fish and decent pizza, but their BBQ brisket was so-so. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Tried eating there on July 5 2016, in 26 years of being on this wonderful earth and working in the food industry myself I have never seen a business more incompetent. The Wait staff is very unprofessional did not have a basic understanding of the menu. I would write a review about the food but after over 2 hours of waiting for burgers and being repeatedly being told it's coming in 5 minutes all I received was a salad with the wrong dressing and the restaurant was only half full . I was not alone in my experience there where at least 5 other table that also have waited well over 3 hours for there food and where still waiting after walking out without ever being served During those two hours the cooks could be seen outside smoking and joking around with waitresses instead doing there job and cooking and serving food. If you want to eat here I would recommend cooking the food yourself otherwise you won't get served. Overall avoid at all cost because if your hungry you will starve. read more

Smokey's customer for over 30 years, through many owners, and when you order a smokey burger you get a burger but tonight I got a smokey burger and it was the size of a burger king burger and they wanted almost 8 dollars for that and I also ordered Chicken wings and they were really greasy and tasted like fish. My dad was the DJ their for many years. Since the new owners took over the place has gone to HELL. I feel so bad that Dick Shepard sold this bar cause when he owned it the food was great. Now it will never be the same ever again cause he kept it old style. Which was great and it never changed and that is what everyone who went in their loved it. So if you want to enjoy great food go to Our Place in Lincoln MI Dick Shepard is their now and the food their is great. read more

Owners girlfriend/waitress was in appropriately dressed and was heard as such by a local patrian and told her what was said but was denied service because of their lack of tactic. If the waitress had an issue with the patrian whom had told this to them in confidence she should have discussed it to the patrian and not taken it personally to get another loss business because of the lack of immoral selfish lack of judgement on her part. This is a common practice from this waitress from what we are told, that has happened quite frequently since the hiring of said person. read more

I've been going to Smokey's for over 6 years now with little to complain about and this year (2017) has been absolutely terrible. The food is disgusting, the wait staff is a terrible and they are WAAAAY over priced for the garbage they are serving! I took my family of 4 and we got a basket of 20 chicken wings, (2) chicken bacon ranch wrap meals, a burger meal and a BBQ chicken salad and we all drank waters it was $69.00!!!! Seriously? This is the 3rd time this year and LAST time I set foot in that dumpster. To make the burger or wrap a platter (nasty fries and tasteless coleslaw) it's an additional $2.99. The BBQ chicken salad was basically canned chicken tossed on iceberg lettuce with some type of chipotle dressing, it was horrible. It was against my better judgement to eat there on this occasion and we should of went to one of the other local lake bars which is more fairly priced with better food. I highly recommend passing on Smokey's unless you want low quality food for high prices! read more

Smokeys has been going through many changes lately. Since the remodel in the last year, they've adopted a new menu and have had a revolving door when it comes to wait staff. The new menu certainly offers many choices and the food is normally served as ordered. I think they've taken things "up a notch" and are becoming a real competitor to other dining establishments in the area, however I think that nickel and diming customers ($.50 per soft drink refill and other minor add on charges) take away from the progress they've made. Next time I visit Smokey's, I'll order a soft drink with no ice and a large glass of ice to prevent that extra $.50 charge since their soft drink glasses are packed with ice. That certainly is a turn-off to me and, since I'm not a beer guzzling type, nor am I to drink refill after refill of soft drinks, it makes me think twice about visiting--I don't care about how good the food. Refill charges don't apply to coffee which is curious. Shame on you, Smokey's. You may have lost a customer--rather several customers as my family is large. read more

Just had dinner at Smokey's. Huge disappointment. We waited over an hour for our dinner and the food wasn't worth the wait. The place was busy, but they had a few empty tables, so I don't understand the wait. Especially because we ordered the special which was fish and chips. The fries were burnt and crumbled on the plate. The fish was okay. Our waitress kept a smile on her face but we had to ask for silverware twice, water 4 times and my son's dinner twice (she brought out the rest and we waited another 10 minutes for his burger). My side salad was a joke since it was a single layer of lettuce, 1 carrot, 1/4 of a slice of cucumber, and one onion ring on a side plate. I could actually see the plate through the lettuce, that was a very skimpy salad! After we left, we talked to some locals by the party store and they said "Smokey's is horrible." I wish we would have talked to them before eating there. When we visit Hubbard Lake, we will not visit Smokey's! read more
