New place in town. Smelled good when we walked in. That was the highlight of the visit. Stopped in for a to go order. Place wasn't terribly busy, at least by the look of the dining room. Took 30 minutes for a take out order consisting of two pulled pork sandwiches and at 5:30 in the afternoon they were already out of some of their side dishes. 1st impressions last a lifetime. Stopped on our way through Marshalltown to buy some records then needed lunch. The guy at the record store recommended BBQ. We were not disappointed. The burnt ends were simply fabulous as were the daily specials- prime rib sandwich and bacon and pn&j burger. read more

We are locals, that said, we have to limit our visits. The BBQ is the best. Seasoning is a personal thing, but we like Smoking G's over Jethro;s, Dave's, and some other places. The Ribs are meaty, and fall off the bone. I take mine naked, my wife with the house sauce. Both are great. Never been disappointed, by the brisket. Really good bbq. The pulled chicken has great flavor. Brisket is tender and juicy. Pulled pork left me wanting a little more smoke flavor. Helpings were generous. Service was adequate. Desserts did not appear to be made in house to me. read more

This place was really good. Ordered their nachos which were amazing. Sliders were also very good. Beer available which were decent choices. Staff very friendly. Super large place so not on top of other patrons. Bathrooms clean. Street parking. Come here and enjoy some decent bbq. I will be back and will probably get the nachos again. Best BBQ I've ever tasted! Took a while to kid the food but it was 100% worth the wait!

I struggle to find something redeeming about this place. We did come in with a party of twenty, but assigning one person was poor planning. It took 20 minutes to get drinks and 90 minutes to get food. I ordered an appetizer as a meal and was served last. My "pulled pork nachos" was cold crock-pot flavorless pork on top of bottom of the bag broken chips with high school football game squirt flavorless cheese. It was topped with one pack of ketchup size sour cream. I had to ask three times for water and twice for another pack of sour cream. Steer. Clear and go get dinner at anyplace else -- you'll thank me. We originally ordered drinks from the bar and no one came back to replenish is so we gave up. Only left a 10% tip because it's the holidays. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. We had a simple problem our sandwiches were cold. Easily done in the winter in Iowa. Was told that it was not cold in the center and was told the exact temp 130 and 140. Seriously! They told us they made us new plates but just nuked the old ones. We will not come back here. Last week I decided to make the drive down from Ames and see what my family and friends have been talking about and eat here. I was sat by a very nice gentleman and looked over the menu and overheard a couple of the workers talking about the best wrap you can buy over on "this side of the Mississippi" and i got a kick out of it and loved all their smiles so i decided to get a Smoked Brisket wrap.
