always been a go-to when i'm in the area, would recommend it to anyone coming around. the brisket was flavorful and tender, the cobbler was also fresh. everything is always pretty clean and i like the overall vibe. the service is solid, everyone is very kind and helpful! i was not a fan of the potato salad, i thought it was gummy and unseasoned. also the portion was quite small for the sides. for $65 and the portions we got, i couldn't justify coming back here unless someone else was going to pay for me. thats sad to say because it really is a staple, but there are far better bbq joints with similar prices and even better quality. read more

I was at a conference and we had Smokin' Joe's catered for dinner. The place is very aptly named for their ribs, which were standout stars and some of the best BBQ ribs I've ever had. The meat was perfectly cooked and tender and the seasoning was insanely good. The potato salad was also some of the best I've ever had with more of a dill flavor that gave unique and full flavor profile that I loved. I also was able to sample the chicken, the bbq pork, the pulled pork, the fried okra, and the peach cobbler. I finally got to try this place. My dad and mom have talked about it forever and finally my dad took me on our way back home from a trip we took. It was very good brisket a little over sauced, but definitely did not skimp on portions. The place was very fun and decorated nicely. Definitely on theme with that country smokehouse. The pickle and onion bar with unlimited pickles and onions was the best thing and I had way too many pickles. I really enjoyed their barbecue sauce and I would love to try other items but my brisket and my dad's brisket were great. read more

Having grown up in Texas and moving to Oklahoma after retiring, it's been a real challenge to find good BBQ. Family members had eaten BBQ at an event provided by Smokin' Joe's in Noble so when we took a road trip down to Davis/Sulphur we thought we'd stop in the Davis location for some good BBQ. Did that ever turn out to be a mistake! Number one, you don't shaft people with an upcharge for brisket; that's just standard on a BBQ plate and nobody I've even seen has had the audacity to do such a thing. If that wasn't enough, when we asked for water we were told it doesn't come out of their drink machine but provided bottled water for $1.50 a piece. Again, what a rip-off! I'd call the food mediocre to poor; neither the ribs or brisket were anything special. The potato salad wasn't horrible but nothing special either. Our second side was fried okra; you'd think nobody could screw that up but it had such an odd taste that I started getting sick to my stomach and pushed it aside. We were with my sister and BIL; they got the beans and said they were so bad they couldn't eat them. By the time my husband and I shared a two meat plate it went from $22 to $29 with all the upcharges. Thanks, but no thanks. Good BBQ may be hard to find in Oklahoma but Smokin' Joe's definitely isn't one of them. read more

Very expensive and not that good! Had 2 baked potatoes with chopped brisket, 2 cobbles w/ice cream and 2 drinks. Potato was burnt, with a glob of cheese, chop brisket wasn't that great, had better from the grocery store. Average BBQ. I know this place gets a lot of good reviews, I wanted it to be great. If you think Smokin Joe's is great BBQ, then I'm sorry you have never had great BBQ. Maybe I am biased, I judge everything based off the best BBQ places in Texas, Franklin's, Terry Blacks, Goldies, Snow's, etc... in addition to what I put out on my own offset smokers. Ordered the two meat plate, sliced brisket, pork ribs, coleslaw, okra, texas toast. Asked for point meat on the brisket. Brisket was pretty pathetic, I didn't even want to eat it all. Absent of any smoke flavor. Pretty dry and the pull test was harder than it should have been. Bark, where is the bark? Most of the slices had 0 bark, just look at the pictures. So much flavor comes from the bark, every slice no matter from the point or the flat should have bark. What little bark there was, was tough. $2 up-charge for brisket is a little disappointing, just put it on the menu that way, unless you see it posted on the cash register you have no idea. Ribs were average. The bite was decent, little tougher than I like. Decent flavor, not bad, not good. Again pretty much no smoke flavor. Better than the brisket, but that is not saying much. Coleslaw was good, nice and creamy. Coleslaw like you would get anywhere that has decent coleslaw. Okra was good, fried well, crispy, normal breading, can't expect much more from fried okra. Texas toast, honestly the best thing I ate. Toasted perfectly, little bit of crunch, buttery, perfect! Portions of the meat were great. You get a lot of meat. I ate another BBQ restaurant the day before, got the same two meat meal, same meat brisket and ribs and portions were half what you get at Smokin Joe's, but their meal was $5 cheaper. I would give Smokin Joe's is a 2 out of 5. The absence of bark and smoke flavor on brisket is inexcusable for a BBQ restaurant, but it is typical of Oklahoma BBQ. If I had to guess the meats are reheated using an Alto-Shaam. It is hard to do what those places in Austin do, run a 24/7 operation cooking meats, but that is why they are the best. read more

Great tasting BBQ. Would usually be 5 out of five. But not today. One of the best I've eaten. Talk about plenty. I ordered the 2 meat combo. I ordered ribs and sliced Pork Loin. The pork loin was a bit dry. Maybe over cooked just a little that made it dry. The ribs were incredible. Huge short ribs. I even got an end piece that had as much as the 3 others. Wow, flavor town deluxe. Ordered fries which they forgot to bring me. But did when I reminded them and some good fresh corn off the cob and French Fries. My friend ordered Fried Balogna and pulled pork. The fried balogna was really good and hot. However, the pulled pork was literally right out of the refrigerator. ( old to the tongue.) (Very cold.) She was going to eat it anyway. I said no, you don't have to. Caught a wait staff person. She took my friends plate and brought it back a few minutes later. It was Luke warm meaning they most likely microwaved it. Taste was good. Cole slaw and potato salad were both very good. The potato salad was a mayo based potato salad which I like better than mustard base. Our meals came with Texas Toast. BTW, all sides are extra. My corn was 5$, my French fries were 5$. It's a bit pricey but the quantity and flavor was worth it. My only complaints are as follows. Tell the order taker my order 3 times and he still left the fries off. Cold pulled pork and fries that had been cooked for a bit. They did give silverware with your tray of food. We couldn't find any so we asked. They sent us twice to the condiment bar to get the silverware. Went back and told then there aren't any forks. Looked at us like we had two heads. Finally we got forks when the replenished the forks in the reception. Now we could eat. It's not my first time to eat there but the service was not up to par yesterday afternoon. BTW, I suggest you get there early. After 4 pm. It's a mad house. I highly suggest you bring cash as this is yet another place the has a service fee for using you Cards. Tea was not the best but wet. Seemed weak as well. The food and service is usually spot on and worth the drive to eat there. I do reckoned Smokin Joes Rib Ranch in Davis Okla. Prices $$$. By the time we left. The food was amazing! We had ribs, brisket and pulled pork. These were hands down the biggest portions we have ever received at a BBQ restaurant. The service was decent. The restaurant has seating for small parties all the way up to large groups. The only negative in our opinion is there are ceiling fans over every single table and they were all on high. I love this place, I was in a nearby town for work and first of all love the name and it had great reviews. We were coming about an hour near closing and luckily they didn't run out of anything. This place grabs you and draws you in with the outdoor volleyball courts which is great for youth and youth groups as long as you don't mind sand in the car! The decor screams hunting lodge sufficiently to give you a testosterone boost. But there's a reason it has "Rib Ranch" in the name. I ordered a one meat plate with ribs which consisted of 3 of the largest, meatiest pork ribs I've ever seen PLUS 1 burnt end rib piece which seemed like a starter-appetizer on the side. I managed to eat the burnt end and 2 ribs taking the 3rd home. I agree with the other reviewers that sharing a meal is the way to go.
