What a great yarn, spinning and fiber store. My husband and I were welcomed in like family. We were in the area on our honeymoon and I had started we were going to one yarn store. They introduced us to their weekly knitting group, helped me find yarn, and loved our story of getting engaged at a knitting store back home. Exactly how a fiber store should feel. I was visiting the Pigeon Forge area and as always looked for a yarn shop when I found the Smoky Mountain Spinnery. I always like to visit one when I'm in a new area. This shop was warm and friendly with lots of interesting things. I don't spin but for those who do I'm sure you'll find something that you "need" in this shop. And if Yarn is what you "need" then this is "the place" to go. I found a great sale on some yarn that I just had to have and I'm planning a shawl. Be sure to walk to the front of the shop where all the windows are and you can see some pretty scenery. There was a rocking chair there and if I had had the time I would have loved to sit and knit. Such a cozy corner. I'm sorry to say that I didn't get the lady's name who helped me but she was knitting socks and was a delight! (April 2nd) Be sure to visit this shop and ENJOY! read more

I visited for the first time on Sunday, 2/27. I have never seen such a huge fiber related selection in a single shop! The employee that helped us was SO sweet and helpful, yet she didn't hover and gave us plenty of room to shop. Between my friend and I, we spent nearly $500. What a wonderful shop!!! Such a nice store where your health and safety is taken seriously. Purchased 3 hanks of local spun yarn and a hook to make scarves to remember our trip to the area and asked about the looms. Debbie was so helpful and excited to share her experience with weaving I purchased one!! I even went back and purchased 2 more hanks and a mug. Can't wait to get home and start on my newest craft. What a lovely place. This place had lovely samples, yarns I had never seen before ( but I am a novice knitter), and a wonderful selection of everything. I didn't even know people still spun their own yarn. It was intriguing. I bought a small kit with The Loom silk yarn for a scarf. I have found a new favorite. I love this place! I had scoped it out ahead of time when I knew that my boyfriend and I would be going to Gatlinburg for my birthday a few months ago. There's such a good selection of different varieties of yarn, and lots of other tools for spinning and dying yarn (things that I will probably never know how to use). The owner is super nice and helpful and even told me about some yarn shops near me that I had never heard of before. Definitely worth stopping in if you're in the area and do any kind of yarn craft. read more

I loved this place! I bought some yarn that had been hand dyed by one of the ladies who worked at the store. They had everything...square knitting needles (I got a pair, on my out of town, I visited them twice in one day!), silkworm cocoons (didn't get any), loads of yarn, lots of necessary accessories (I got some yarn place markers), and yarn bowls (I got one, that made two I purchased for this trip!). I come all the way from Canada and have been to this store many times in the last 2 years. The staff are not only friendly and helpful but they are fun!! I have enjoyed being part of the sit-and -knit night that they have every Tuesday night and love following them on Facebook and Ravelry. They have expanded and added many new yarns and fibres as well as starting rug hooking. If you are ever in this beautiful part of the country be sure and stop in.
